Good for them they should be CLOSED. Corny place and ppl.

Took a big group here for my wife’s milestone birthday. There was some initial confusion as to where we should sit, but once notified, the hostess worked hard for the rest of the evening to make sure we were well taken care of. No problem at all getting in since we had booked in advance. Prices were quite reasonable given the package we had and the number of people. Music was an eclectic but great mix of top 40, remixes, amped-up old-school, and techno, with just the right amount of hip-hop. Mix was seemingly engineered to cater to as broad an audience as possible while still being danceable to all. Club itself was different than what I had imagined from the pictures… but was really neat. It’s hard to find a place where you can dance all you want, or sit/stand around, or both throughout the evening, but the layout really worked for everything. All in all, a great place with an excellent vibe, attentive and polite service, and minimal attitude all around. Would return in a heartbeat and recommend to all.

One of my good friends(think: über-hipster) was a promoter for Ultra, so we sort of didn’t fit in with the rest of the people who looked like they came from Duvet or were heading there later. There were times where it was like a mini-foam party(seriously). But there was free Grey Goose and we had our own table, so I couldn’t complain! The DJ on Friday nights(DJ Tommy Virtue) was alright, probably not the best at mixing, but he played a lot of danceable stuff. I never had the chance to go to the private party area upstairs. The doormen are selective from what I’ve seen. There was a group of guys that wasn’t dressed too nicely and their group wasn’t allowed in. There’s a coat check and I was always super-appreciative that the coat check guy never gave me a hard time when I tried to sneak my scarf and other layers in there. It wasn’t ever extremely crowded, you can definitely have space to dance. It fills up pretty late on Fridays. Would I go back if not for my friend who promoted? Probably not.

A decent, if generic, club. I just wish people danced more here instead of just standing around. Also, they don’t serve water after some hour, which is kind of obnoxious. $ 14 Long Islands, and lots of women from Long Island.

Ultra kind of reminds me of a miniaturized version of Park: high ceilings, trees for décor, an easy door, and, at times, an awkward crowd. But, unlike Park, Ultra is far more intimate and excellent for private parties. This is not so much a dance club as a lounge. Get bottle service to secure a nice booth/table and the section in front of it is basically yours for dancing. The bar isn’t so great here and drink prices are comparable to the usual NYC nightlife highway robbery, but the service that comes with bottle service is top notch. That said, the place is clean, swanky, and well-laid out if you are looking to have a birthday party. This place is not ideal for meeting people, dancing, or hanging out at the bar and can be either empty or full but never crowded. Excellent sound system and sweet bouncers who let me through the door sans cover even though I came very late in the night. The only negative is that there were far too many party photographers snapping away inside when I last went. I agree with a previous reviewer who said that«it’s not very elite feeling — it may seem like it is on the outside but it’s actually pretty non-hoity toity». This is definitely a great thing and Ultra wins four stars from me for this alone! Had a great time here at a friend’s birthday party and would not hesitate to come back for another bash.

The décor is very unique and I think it is one of my favoritely designed clubs(I’m sure I could have worded that better). I went on a Thursday night, so it was fairly empty. I came in just as open bar special was ending, but the bartender was sweet/nice enough to extend open bar for me to get one free drink(don’t forget to tip, though!). Next time I come, I would like to come on a weekend, when it’s more full and people are actually dancing.

Went here for a special event with a fashion show, and open wine bar. It was awesome. Great people. Good vibe. Fun show. It was a pretty early event too, which left plenty of time for the night… The venue is pretty small. It’s got a lounge atmosphere to it. I don’t know if it’s usually there, but there was a small runway thing in the middle which took up dancing real estate, but people just sat on it and stood on it and chatted. The second floor provides a nice view of the overall club. They also have two bars, one in the front and one in the back, for easy access.

I came here with a friend for a party last night. First impression, the bouncers were nice(I was afraid I couldn’t get in due to my college kid look-alike outfit). The setting was an-ok. They didn’t water down the drink(fact: after the first drink, my face was red), so I guess it’s worth the money. It was kind of boring though, there’s music but nobody danced(why, people? my friend tried to dance, but he was the only one, along with 2 elderly women), and since the music was loud, it’s really hard to talk to someone without literally screaming on their ear.

Went there for a friend’s bday party on Saturday and found it surprisingly good. The drinks are priced decently and the music was great. Good mix of hip-hop, pop, rap, etc. Liked the décor of the place and the foam bubbles from time to time was a nice surprise but later it was just annoying. It was really packed around midnight but around 2⁄3 it was almost empty. Overall I enjoyed it and will probably go again.

One of the better clubs in NYC in my opinion. Bouncers aren’t bitchy about being selective. Dress decently and you’re in. Staff is friendly. They play decent mix of dance/hip hop. Drinks are a little pricey $ 10 – 12. And cover is about $ 20 Overall a nice classy lounge with nice atmosphere. Crowd is a mix with a some Asians. The place should get a few more stars than it has. The bad reviews are based on «bad experiences» instead of a review of the actual lounge/club itself. You shouldn’t judge a club based on your experience, your experience can be entirely different the next time you go(there won’t always be blood or whatever on the floor every time you go, lol). If you are going to give a bad review, at least, review the club itself, instead of reviewing your«experience»!!

This place is alright. No cover is a plus. But I’ve been there a couple times. Once it was completely packed, the music was loud, and it was difficult to speak to anyone. The drinks are alright but weak. The second time it was completely empty save for some older men. The music playing completely sucked. It may be easier to just walk a little bit over to The Park if you’re looking for a better crowd that will actually dance.

Not bad, the music is pleasant, on the Friday we were there for a birthday, the crowd was packed, and the waitresses weren’t too emphatic about force-serving us; bubble foam coming from the ceiling, and the décor a bit sparse, but there were chairs to the back, and a very communal trough in the back for guys. Cover after midnight, and mandatory coat check when early($ 3). Drinks weren’t too bad, only around $ 10 for a mixed, $ 7 for a beer. Crowded, but people seemed to like it that way.

pros: not all too crowded, good mix of songs, people are friendly, that one bartender is gorgeous cons: the music beatflow is honestly terrible, it’s a little too small to be a club we went there with 6 people including me. there were no door dramas or whatsoever. the place was decently decorated. the only thing that bothered me is the fact that the place was way too small. it would’ve been a great bar by itself, but with a dancefloor it just seem a little too much. but i guess for NY it should be a decently large place, i don’t know, i should look around a little more and then come to a conclusion. overall me any my friends had a good time dancing. thank god it wasn’t packed all around; i mean, having a lot of people is fun too, but overpacked is just not cool(imagines stinky men dancing side by side touching shoulder to shoulder… yeeeeah) i’ll go there again definitely to chill out and whatnot.

I wanted to love the place since I paid a $ 10 cover even though we got there before 11. I think no one should charge before then. The extra star is for the room to dance because it certainly is NOT for the DJ that night. I like to(and can) dance to almost anything. Except when they play only one verse of each song and change the tempo from song to song. I didn’t go to DJ ‘school’, but could’ve done a much better job. We stayed about an hour, and some of the music was enjoyable but it varied so much it was hard to change my dancing continually. Sometimes you just want to say in a groove. I guess you have to be very drunk to enjoy what they were playing so maybe I should’ve drank more.

Yes, the line is short and they let anyone in the door. It’s a pretty large club for NY. There are«snow machines» that snow confetti paper. There are dancers in skimpy attire on ledges for parts of the night. There are two competing NYC nightlife website photographers that provide a constant strobe of flashing lights. And if you come in June, expect to see at least 3 bachelorette parties going on at any given time. But it’s not very elite feeling — it may seem like it is on the outside, but it’s actually pretty non-hoity toity. Which can definitely be a good thing. The drinks were strong and at typical Manhattan prices, but I have no idea how I ended up with a fuschia tongue when I got home that night that still didn’t completely go away the next morning. My bf couldn’t remember either. We didn’t have anything but clear drinks(or beer). I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. My one big complaint? The music. It was awful. How much Michael Jackson can you play in one night? It looked like they had 3 DJs up there that could have easily been replaced with a few«house party hits» CDs on random play. Definitely a bad thing. I still had fun. It’s really hard to find a good-sized club with no nonsense at the door in Manhattan. I just wish there were more pretty people to watch: P. I guess I’m spoiled sometimes in Miami.

Came here for a friend’s birthday and really didn’t know what to expect. It’s like going to a movie with no expectations and without looking up any reviews(which is hard for a Unilocaler). I was pleasantly surprised! Due to the aforementioned party we had guest list which bypassed the line and the cover. Bouncers and hosts were great unlike some other places where they can be real pretentious. We were waiting outside for the rest of the party to arrive before all entering together and the host was nice enough to let us know if we didn’t make use of the guest list privileges before 12 we’d be having a hard time getting in. That speaks volumes since I’ve been to plenty of places where despite having guest list, they could really care less about you getting in. It was mighty packed once we were inside to the point where it’s pretty much standing room only. Seating is very limited unless you happen to have bottle service and/or stole someone’s seat. The crowd was a good mix, however the music was all over the place. On top of that we heard the same songs replayed throughout the night within a 2 hour period. However with good company comes good times and Ultra certainly facilitated that.

I fckn LOVEEEED this place when it was open. Haven’t been here since last year though. I heard they only do private parties but they should definitely open up to the public again! Music was sooooo good. Hip hop, classics, pop, mainstream, rock n roll, dance, house, everything to please everyone. The crowd was mixed as well. Some model/socialite kinda people but alot of ‘regular’ yet well-dressed people. Has the feel of one of the more upscale clubs but not at all snooty. Music: 5++ Crowd: 5 Atmosphere: 5+

— Went here a little while ago. — Music was good, but people who were dancing to it were not. — Guys at the door were cool, which to me is a big part of wherever I go. They are the first people to represent a place and it is very important they have the right vibe. — Expensive drinks, but that is becoming regular for places trying to be elite. — Had an ok time there, plenty of good looking women, I just wonder if they had brains in their heads.

I went to Ultra Lounge the other day for a holiday party and really enjoyed it. It is a very swanky lounge with tons of seating areas, a large bar, high ceilings, and 2 separate party areas… one of which is a «tree house» on the second floor overlooking the main area. The bartenders are quick and efficient. The music is decent, but probably the least interesting draw.

The music is ok… but they could stand to play a better mix of dance-able tunes. Drinks are pricey(sorry — I’m from Queens — I’m not used to 15 $ each) and the Long Island Iced Teas are horrible… But the staff is nice, and the place is still fun and nicely decorated. Definitely a hot place to go in NY.
