Excellent place to get authentic Greek food. One of my favorite spots in NYC for lunch and everyone visiting NYC should stop here for a bite before walking over to Rockefeller Center which is near by.

I’ve passed by here so many times right in front of the Park Avenue church and always avoided it because the line is super long. But that must mean that it’s great, right? The trick to Uncle Gussy’s is getting there by 11:30 — 11:45am. Once you’re there, it means you’ll probably only wait like 5 minutes before you get your food. Yes, only five minutes! They are so quick and they get your order to you within a minute. I had their veggie platter without feta cheese– which was only $ 6! That meant saffron rice, grilled onions, black beans in a hearty sauce, and some lettuce and tomato with some balsamic. I thought there would be more veggies, but it is really like 75% rice and beans and 25% ‘salad’. The carbs and protein are good though, so appreciate that! Be sure to bring cash by the way.

Loved the greek truck. The line is usually long, but the people on the truck manage it quite well and things move fast. I have tried their Chicken bowl and Chicken pita. Both of them were awesome. The prices are very reasonable ! The portion is great ! The quality and taste is awesome ! Highly recommend this place !

This is my favorite food truck in Manhattan. The lines can get long sometimes, but it’s quick. The food is great and I recommend it to everyone I know. Plus, if the run of It of anything, they post it on Twitter. That’s service!

Great place for a quick bite. The food was very good and the staff knew what they were talking about. I have a habit of asking them to give me whatever they think is good, as they know their food better than I do. The staff here had no problem crafting an amazing dish that both filled me up and was a great price. If you want a quick bite in this part of town, I would highly suggest stopping here.

One of the best food trucks in NY. The line is usually long, but it moves fast. I wouldn’t say this is a «must try» when you come to NY, but it’s a very solid and quick meal. These trucks keep the midtown office workers running. As with all food trucks like this one, if you haven’t tried it get the combo platter.

YOU’REMYFAVORITEUNCLE! Setting the bar for food trucks NYC-wide. I had to try this place after my beau kept gushing about it. Not sure how I didn’t make a visit while at my old office but I’m glad I finally got to try it(would’ve been easier when I worked near grand central!) The hype is absolutely justified. The tzatziki and hot sauces are amazing, and the lettuce/tomatoes weren’t soggy — in fact, they were fresh! I ordered extra chicken — big mistake. The regular chicken platter should be plenty filling. I had to throw some of the chicken out. I do agree that the dark chicken could’ve used a bit more flavor and was a tad on the dry side, but not a deal breaker. This is, after all, a food truck — and it’s one hell of a ride when the fluffy rice, chicken, and lettuce combine in your mouth. The hot sauce isn’t Mamoun’s hot, but you’ll definitely feel the aftermath. At $ 8($ 7 without extra chicken), this is one of the biggest bang for your buck deal for lunch around this neighborhood. Their 4.5 star is well-deserved with the generous portions, delicious food, and friendly service. I’ll definitely be swinging by if I’m around this area for lunch.

I would love to give Uncle Gussy’s 4 stars, but unfortunately I found a long hair wrapped around my first piece of chicken. The man taking orders also forgot to give me a fork, even when I had asked if he put one in the bag. Putting those things aside, the food is cheap and good. I had chicken breast over a house salad with the works(hot sauce, grilled onions & peppers) with dressing & tzatziki on the side. I would come back again, but finding other people’s hairs in my food really grosses me out. :(

Great food truck and beats every Halal truck you see on 6th Avenue in the 50’s street. The rice is good and doesn’t feel greasy. The meat is cooked well done and has a really good taste to it. They have a really good tzatziki sauce with onions as well. The line gets long but it moves really quickly as well. Definitely recommend!

BEST food truck in the city! The guy’s running the Gussy’s food truck have developed the perfect model that drives demand year round. Delicious food! Excellent customer service! Fantastic prices! Gussy’s has been in my midtown lunch rotation for several years now and it has never failed to let me down. You know you’re a regular when the guy has your order down cold: combo lamb over rice greek and spicy! For $ 7 it fills me up more than the chipotle around the corner. The sauce is spicy and tangy but not overbearing. The yellow rice is a little on the heavy side but it is much healthier than some of your neighboring rice options. Rain, snow, or shine… 5 min wait or 30 min wait… When I’m craving Gussy’s none of it matters and the food is always delicious.

I always see a long line here whenever I’m on my way to work so I vowed that I would try this place sometime! On a rainy Monday afternoon, I decided to give this place a shot since the line was pretty short. I ordered on seamless and the pick up time wasn’t that long so I headed there! There was only one person in front of me. But the guy working the front of the cart was extremely nice and even made small talk. He mentioned that he has extra sauce in there for me, and said it would only be a minute more. He was a really good and kind person, for a food truck this was way more than I expected although halal carts tend to talk a lot too. While I was waiting for an order, I saw one of his regulars come up to the cart and they were very friendly to each other! I could see why people love this place so much. When I got back to my office to unwrap my lunch, the portions were huge! As you can see in my photos, he really did hook it up with the sauces and the portions. The white sauce is not what I’m use to although I could see how the food is high quality: the chicken was a little dry in my opinion, I will probably only get gyro next time. The yellow rice as others have mentioned is not oily and perfect in flavor. The salad is very fresh. These are crunchy pieces of lettuce with a solid tomato, not the sad pieces of lettuce that a halal cart would give you. However, I really didn’t think the meal was that delicious or worth raving about. The fries were really good in my opinion. Unfortunately, when I had the chance to eat them. they were already soggy. But they are wonderfully seasoned and go well with ketchup. I probably would not come back here because for the price, I don’t think it taste phenomenal but this definitely wasn’t an experience I regret!

Uncle Gussy’s is a prime model of how food trucks and restaurants should be run. They provide consistent staples of generous servings of high-quality food for a very reasonable price. The meat is always marinated then grilled to perfection. The yellow parboiled rice has zero grease and is always al dente. The salad greens are always fresh and picked up from local farms. One of my favorite staples is the chicken thigh over rice for $ 7. The tzatziki sauce is pure Greek yogurt and heavy on the garlic, unlike the watered down white sauce from nearby street carts. Their hot sauce made by Franky should be bottled — it’s a mixture of Sriracha, Thai sweet chili sauce, and habaneros. My colleagues and I keep stashes at our desks, it’s that good. Similar to the creativity in restaurants, Nicko and Mama put out specials every Tue and Thu. My favorite specials include: skirt steak(marinated in red wine), keftedes(beef balls in tomato sauce), kokkinisto(beef stew in tomato sauce), and porkchop and lemon potatoes. Due to the consistency and variety offered by their staples and specials, I am always able to round up a crew at work to hit Gussy’s 2 – 3 times a week. In the summertime, the line can stretch to 60 deep. However, do not allow that to daunt you because you will be at the front within 15 minutes. In the event of popular specials, show up before 12:30 because they may run out. On one occasion, the nearby NFL office purchased all the porkchop specials by noon! Last but not least, Nicko will always take care of you. He is the epitome of outstanding customer relations!

When you see that the line for this truck is winding around the block, then you know it’s damn good Greek food! Expect to wait around 10 – 15 mins, especially during primetime lunch hours. They also wrap up around 4pm, so lunch time is really the only time you can enjoy this. Whenever I go, I get the Lamb or Combo platter(chicken and lamb) with The Works(grilled onions, tzatziki sauce, some other stuff that I promise will make your platter delicious). Their lamb is amazing and so juicy — love, love love! Chicken is also very juicy as well, and has a lot of flavor. I love their tzatziki sauce — it’s a perfect compliment to the meats. It’s very filling and for 7 bucks, totally worth the wait! Be prepared to know what you want when it’s your turn because you’re in Midtown and all the white-collar workers standing behind you seriously do not have the patience for your indecisiveness!

Just finished eating this with my girlfriend. My actual rating is a 3.5 but the Unilocal app only does ratings by whole numbers. Overall we thought that it was definitely above average, but probably not worth the 25 minute trip we took by train to get this food. We both ordered a rice platter with the works, only with their signature Tzusaki sauce instead of hot sauce. The employees were nice. There is a pretty sizable line for the food. We thought that the lamb was okay but the same as your standard halal stand. They used lettuce and tomatoes that again were alright. What stood out was the onions and green peppers which tasted good. Unfortunately we felt the rice was bland. The saving grace which separated this from any typical halal stand was the Tzusaki sauce which was pretty good, but definitely not eye opening or something that made me say«Wow!» 7 dollars wasn’t a bad price for what we got. An above average halal stand with a Greek spin on it. If you work around here or are by the area and want a good lunch for a good price, this is the place for you. But if you’re looking for tasty food with more flavor, you might want to try somewhere else.

I’ve walked past this cart around noon or 1pm and seen a line that stretches down the block to 50th street. Do yourself a favor and come around 2pm like I do. If this is your first rodeo, step up to the counter when it’s your turn and ask for the«vegetarian platter with the works.» It’ll be $ 6 and taste like a world of spicy, creamy, goodness with veggies on a bed of warm yellow rice and BIG chunks of feta cheese sprinkled on top.

I have wanted to try this place ever since I started working around this area, but the line is ALWAYS extremely long during lunch time. There are literally 50 people waiting on this line. must says something about this place right? :) It’s inexpensive considering you’re in the city, delicious food, and a large portion! What more can you ask for?! However, after you order, the wait to get your food is super quick(less than a minute). I ordered the chicken platter with«the works» which includes: tomatoes, grilled onions, lettuce, hot sauce, and their white sauce«tzatziki sauce.» Delicious! Their chicken is very well seasoned and cut in a decent size. There’s an option for chicken breast(white meat) also if you like that. It was such a big portion, I couldn’t finish everything. The rest was saved for dinner. Everyone that works at the food truck is extremely nice and patient as well! This was one of my best lunch ever.

Amazing food! I am a big fan of the rice platter with chicken. I don’t do food trucks — but don’t let that fool you. This food truck is pretty and the price is right. Even though the line is usually long, it moves quick and is worth the wait.

Delicious! I especially recommend the chicken. Main guy is super friendly and almost a celebrity(you may recognize in Snapple TV ads). Quantities are substantial and at a great price. Long lines are definitely worth it…

I absolutely love this truck!!! I was very hungry one day and I see a long line for this truck, so out of curiosity I decide to try it out. The lady in front of me recommended me want to get and this is always what I order now. I always order the Combo(Chicken/Lamb) Platter Greek and Mild. I love this platter because the sauces are so tasty and so are the meats. Everything about this platter is perfect. They’re also very generous with the portions which makes me super happy. So the price is right, the portion is awesome, and the food is perfect… what is there not to like!

My family did bad things to me. I don’t want to go into it, but let’s just say that there is a very, very good reason why we all had to call my father’s brother«Uncle Gushy’s» and it wasn’t anything to do with his gushing praise of our academic prowess. But it had everything to do with prowess, mind you. I thought I could never enjoy Uncle Gussy’s food because of the obvious reminder of my Uncle’s nickname(shudders). However the food at Uncle Gussy’s is so good, that I couldn’t help but love it. Many things in life you cannot help but love, and this is one of them. My Uncle, however, was not. There is one problem though. I have to ask for no yogurt sauce. That thick white creamy yogurt sauce just pushes it over the edge when combined with the name of the food truck. It’s just«too much to swallow.» It always was, but that’s another story. What to get: The Combo What else: Don’t mention Uncle What’s your fave TV show: Certainly not The Man From Uncle. Why aren’t you playing soccer lately: I injured my Uncle. I mean Ankle. Why are you whining about your family: Look, this criticism is Uncled for. I mean uncalled for. Unfortunately they are only open 10−4pm but you can’t have everything. Ruggy’s review led me to try it, and for that reason I may call it Uncle Ruggy’s in future. Then again that would remind me of my real Uncle.(shudders again). I’ve had many combos in many forgotten corners of New York City, and this is one of the five best I have had. Sammy’s Halal, Biryani Cart(those two are the best of the best although BC doesn’t have combos), Tony Dragonas and King Souvlaki of Astoria are all right up there, but Uncle Gussy’s enjoys a spot in the top five, or at the very least in the top ten. I don’t know where my Uncle is these days. I found his business card in my shower the other day which was exceptionally freaky since I have never seen this card before. It says he now works for the United Nations. I think he’s trying to give me a clue on how to find him. However I did not — for obvious reasons — appreciate this«UN-clue.» I wasn’t even too hungry when I ordered it, but I remember thinking, «this is the perfect combo.» Juicy cubes of chopped gyro meat, lightly spiced and aromatic bits of chicken, over excellent rice, with delicious creamy and spicy sauces poured all over it. I usually ask for extra sauces, and for all the sauces, for that matter. Sadly, I keep thinking of my Uncle. Even when I’m with a girl, I can’t help but seeing his hideous face in my mind as I uncle-asp her bra. If you haven’t been to NYC, you may not even know what Halal Carts and Combos are. You are really missing out. Halal Guys is the most famous(and is a five star place), but Sammy’s Halal is the best and Uncle Gussy’s is right up there as one of the best. I think I’ve «gushed» enough about Uncle«Gushys» so I’ll leave the rest to you. Come and try it, and love it as much as I did. Maybe I’ll see you there. But don’t bring up my Uncle again, please. Ever. The very thought of him makes me feel… Uncle-an. (Note: this is not something that some people like to see jokes about. However I was actually subject to this kind of thing on many occasions — though not from my Uncle, lol — and I feel like sometimes, if you don’t laugh about it, it can really be a burden and mess you up. And I’M NOTMESSEDUPATALL. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)
