T-bone for 2 amazing. Lobster Mac n cheese great, shrimp cocktail super large shrimps, all sides excellent, however sides are on the smaller side for the price to be honest, except for the baked potatoe. If you get a chance go lunchtime as well to try the lobster bisque, only served than; I normally have dinner there but that soup is a treat. Mohamad the manager is a delight. Staff very attentive as well. Pricey yes, but worth it yes. PS tried the sushi, shocker was great too! Hate to end on a sour note, but, had the soft she’ll crabs as appetizer, greasy and overly salty. First time didn’t like something.

Update from my note last year approx. This time. Again I live around the coner so I stop by for glass of wine, occasionally dinner. The points saga is reason for this update., I estimate from my proven 10,000 points over a year ago that I am now down to 260, total should be closer to 12,000 points. This program is so wrong. I understand Willie took my points away because he did not like my email directed to him on the topic, I guess his way to spank me. Meanwhile although I will continue to enjoy my wine there, again this points thing is a joke. FYI, I had the pork chop last night, it was pretty good… service at bar last night for food, very slow.

Went back to Uncle Jacks to give it a second try. I was so glad I did! Our return visit was nothing like the first disaster! We were a party of four. We were seated on the second floor, which is actually a balcony overlooking the main floor. I would highly recommend being seated there, it’s much quieter. Our server was FANTASTIC! His name is Joel and if you go, ask for Joel. He knows how to take care of his guests. Excellent service, very professional yet very friendly. We had two orders of the porterhouse for two. Each order was cooked perfectly, sliced perfectly, and presented perfectly. But the true taste is in the taste, in that department, Jack didn’t fail us. The steak was tender, juicy and full of flavor. The portion size was huge! We had salads to start: caesar, wedge, and tomatoes with mozzarella. All were terrific. The sides were onion rings, sweet potato fries, and spinach sautéed in olive oil. All were excellent. Overall, a great meal!

I’ve come here several times for happy hour with friends. Two for one drinks! The service is impeccable and the servers are always gracious. I’ve ordered sushi and a few sides and everything is always fresh and delicious. One evening I will treat myself to one of those amazing steaks. Uncle Jacks is a neighborhood gem and it’s nice to see a regulars, tourists, and the after work crowd during the happy hour.

Friends asked us to meet them at this out of the way«Steak house». a place that is decorated to pretend it is a speakeasy? I don’t know. First the Hostess. someone needs to take her shopping. the dress she had on, well it matched the décor of the place. Anyway. We sat down, our friends had not yet arrived., I ordered a bowl of soup and my tablemate ordered Chicken paillard. Guess that we weren’t spending enough money. The Waiter informed us after we placed our order that«Bread would be an additional $ 5.» Doesn’t say that on the menu. His response was that«Management told him to say that». PULEEEZE The food was ok. not that special. the service was ok. the prices were way over the quality of the food. but the insult of the bread basket. There are plenty of other places to go.

While in New York City for business a bunch of my coworkers and I decided to go to this Highend steakhouse. I had been to the bayside Queens restaurant previously and had one of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life. So based on that I figured this would be a great dining experience with some coworkers. Well I was sadly mistaken and incredibly disappointed. I have no issue paying top dollar for a top-notch steak, but when I do I expect a top-notch steak. Out of a table of six of us, four of us had a very unfavorable experience based on the food and service. Not once did the server ask how our meals were and dropped off the check and turned and left without engaging in any conversation related to our dining experience. This was a terrible disappointment and I would venture to say that I will not be back. The steak I had was internal temperature cooked fairly close to where I would have preferred, But not exactly as I preferred. But that was something I could except, but the entire steak on the outside was charred as if it had been left on open flame for three minutes on each side. The entire taste of my steak was nothing but Burnt and char. Absolutely terrible terrible taste. I even tried to cut away some of the char so I could enjoy some flavor of the steak, however there was no flavor by doing that either. A terrible terrible disappointment!

Great service, great food except if I’m paying $ 14 for banana cream pie I expect the most expensive desert on the menu NOT to have a cheap crust that the filling was clearly not cooked in. It almost felt like cream brûlée with caramelized bananas on top. also the bread basket was $ 5 and the bread choices were not great. But the main course food was wonderfully prepared I just wish there was just as much care and consideration to the deserts that are so expensive.

Advertising this restaurant as the number one steakhouse in NY is completely false maybe the number one priced steakhouse. Our experience stated out negative almost from our arrival. On a bitter cold day in NYC we walked into a completely empty restaurant and were seated by the front door. When we requested to sit elsewhere we were told they were overbooked and it would be too much trouble to move us. Fast forward almost two hours plenty of open tables when we left. The meal was adequate at best, we ordered the porterhouse steak for two, mostly overcooked and tough. Not very flavorful. Side dishes and appetizer also nothing special and dessert was mediocre at best. Our total check of over $ 250.00 for two people before tip yet we were asked to settle our bill when ordering dessert. Very unprofessional. Overall. Very disappointing expensive meal. I can think of many local steakhouses that far exceed this one and most for significantly less money.

Uncle Jack needs to chat with Papa Joe unfortunately… I truly hate write ½ hearted reviews especially when my intentions were to enjoy a steak for lunch. I liked the energy, the place is cozy, décor was cool and my service initially was good. I sat in the bar area off the bar table so my service shouldn’t interrupt people drinking and enjoying conversation. One glass in, I had the app of maple bacon… Tasty. Steak and bake potato come out WARM, I’ve eaten across the country at steakhouses and this is the 1st time this has ever happened. Either my food was sitting and waiting to come to me or it was waiting to come to me… Haahaa … still warm so immediately Uncle Jack’s cousin appears(Mgr) and says let me make you happy… Boom 5 min later new steak, new bake potato sizzling hot and ready for me to dive in with steak knife and fork… I often wonder why didn’t this happen the first time… I am patient but that wait was 20 min for a warm steak and potato. In any event after the remix I did enjoy my lunch and needed to let the peeps at Uncle Jack know keep it hot and fresh when a boss comes in the building for some grub… Heehee. There will be a next time because that was just a blip in the road and this restaurant will continue to make great steaks.

Nothing like being ignored at the bar for 7 minutes before finally getting to order a beer and water. Got the beer after another 3 min but no water. Wasn’t even offered a menu. Wish I had just had cash to walk out but had to run my card to be overcharged. Just a lovely experience all around. My(bottled) $ 8($ 10) beer was cold. Two stars.

Came here on a business lunch with a friend. We ordered a salad and sushi, respectfully. Since it was lunch time, I wasn’t in the mood for a heavy dish. I usually don’t venture out to steakhouses since I’m vegetarian but I knew I was going to go with one of their salads so it didn’t matter. The mesclun salad was delicious: greens, cranberries, pine nuts, and feta. I was too thrilled with the ambiance but it was great for lunch and there was plenty of seating at the time as well. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly during the meal– can’t ask for anything better.

Went to uncle jacks with my daughter and some friends visiting nyc. Wanted a safe good meal that I knew would be expensive but exceptional. Did not get anything great, just mediocre. Filet was blah on a plate by itself with no presentation. Tasted ok but nothing I couldn’t have gotten anywhere for half the price. Bone in prime rib was all grizzle and fat(un-eatable). Waiter comped one steak and gave some free deserts which is all they could really do. Waiter was a little snotty about whole affair. Bread costs extra money-crazy in my opinion. Dinner was still super expensive and definitely not worth it. Spoke to others who warned me not to go and told me of similar stories. Had uncle jacks a bunch of years ago and was great. Shame to see them get caught in what has happened to many steak houses. Will not go back again.

Uncle Jack’s was recommended to me during my weekend visit to New York. WOW, WOW, WOW — it was delicious. The ambiance, service, and food was wonderful. They had a separate gluten free menu which of course I loved. I enjoyed the caesar salad and filet along with the garlic mashed potatoes and mushrooms. The filet was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes and mushrooms were simply heavenly. My mom and I had a late lunch, so were not starving by the time we got to dinner. We both wanted a filet, but knew we couldn’t eat 8ozs each. It was a nice surprise to have the waiter suggest that we split — he also did not up-charge us for sharing the filet. In addition to the food being wonderful — the wine selection was great. It was a wonderful experience and I would not only go back, but would highly recommend it.

We came at lunch time, as we were passing the place and were familiar with the brand from the show on the Food Network in the UK. The interior screams high dining at you and although when we arrived at about 11:55am it wasn’t busy at all, by the time our orders had been processed, the place was packed solid without a table spare. Which considering the really high prices for the steaks says something a lot about the restaurant. We expected the service to be good as it is something stressed on the TV show — and in fact, you might as well smile for the cameras as the show also makes the point that in an Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse, you’re under constant surveilance to ensure that the staff are up to an acceptable standard. It was a bit weird that the maître d’hôtel would do everything(take orders, speak to customers etc) and then tell the other waiters what he did. Surely it would just be easier to have the other waiters actually interact with the customer especially as he forgot to tell us about the specials and left my bread plate on the table when I didn’t want bread. Willie Degal probably just fired him for that after reading this review! I’m joking, but it’s just when you express such high standards on a television show, you presume it’s because that’s the standards you already have at your own restaurants. The food was good quality and we were offered various amounts of sear on the steaks(something I’ve never been offered in a restaurant before) but we were fortunate to come at lunch so we could get away with paying $ 22 dollars for a steak sandwich and fries each rather than $ 50 for just a steak, plus $ 10 sides etc. But even then the sandwich didn’t come as advertised — it was supposed to be on garlic bread, but was on regular bread(which to be fair was decent) and the fries were meant to have some herbs on it. But I guess when one table is spending $ 50 all together and another is spending in the region of $ 75 to $ 90 per person including wine, you know full well who the restaurant is going to concentrate their efforts on. So all in all, it’s fine but expensive restaurant and I feel like I’ve had the Uncle Jack’s experience now, so there’s no need for me to come back in the future.

I think I came here with expectations that were a bit too high, but even taking that into account, I left fairly disappointed. We arrived just before noon, and it wasn’t busy(it got busy later). We had to wait to be seated as the hostess wasn’t at her station. We got put at a small table for 2 by the window. We were promptly offered water by the ‘captain’ Joel. The overly attentive service meant our water glasses never had more than a sip taken out before they were refilled — it might suit some but I was a bit annoyed. I had seen a board outside with several lunch specials, which weren’t mentioned to us. Joel spoke fast, like an auctioneer, explaining the steak to us and the sides and maybe where we can find the Lost City of Atlantis — I lost interest. He never asked what we were after before he started the spiel. As we were there for lunch, and flying out later that day, we were never going to have a big steak meal. We both went for the filet mignon sandwich, which came with fries. Joel asked how we wanted it cooked, and when I asked for his suggestion he said medium or medium rare, so I had medium. Unfortunately when my lunch came, it was actually well done. My husband’s was medium, but I couldn’t be bothered to send mine back as it wasn’t dried out but it wasn’t satisfactory, really. It also was meant to come on garlic bread but I couldn’t discern any whiff of garlic anywhere. The fries were also meant to be herb fries but as you can see from my photo, they were not. Someone came and tried to clear my plate while I was still eating. Then no one came for 10 minutes to clear when we were actually done. The hostess stood at the station looking utterly board and reapplying her chapstick. So a mixed bag. Sure, my meal tasted nice — but wasn’t what was expected. Service was attentive — overly so — and then non-existent. I expected more from Willie Degal’s establishment, and I’m glad I didn’t spend $ 90 a person like the table next to us did(with no alcohol!).

Steak and Sushi… and both are excellent. After a particularly exhausting day walking around New York City for Comic Con, my friends and I were on a quest to find decent food without a crowd. Luckily, we stumbled onto Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse. Although I wasn’t looking for steak, we saw that they had sushi as well, so we were hopeful that a tasty dinner was about to happen. After being seated quickly in the very ornate restaurant, we first looked at each other and thought«Am I under dressed for this?» The answer is no. Yes, the restaurant is beautiful, but they don’t put that stress on you as the customer. Heck, there must have been a Ranger’s game that night because many people in the restaurant were wearing hockey jerseys. Anyway, after getting the menus and looking things over, we asked one of the waiters if they had any specialty cocktails. He gave us this wonderfully New York look as if to say«Seriously? My guys didn’t give you a drink menu??» and within seconds he handed one to us. My wife and I got the blood orange martini and it was pleasantly strong. Considering the price and the atmosphere, I appreciate a strong drink. We then ordered several sushi rolls. Let me tell you, my wife and I go to a lot of sushi restaurants, more than I could ever review on here. This sushi was on par with some of the best we have ever had. Rich flavors, fresh fish, delicious combinations. Yes, the specialty rolls were a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. Our friends went the steak route and were not disappointed. Like I said, the food isn’t cheap, but it’s well worth it, especially if you’re looking for a place to get off the city street and enjoy a relaxing dinner. Indeed, as indicated in other reviews, the staff are overly-attentive when it comes to clearing plates. Although this wasn’t necessarily preferable, fact is I prefer it to restaurants that just ignore the plate situation and let things stack up. I can’t fault a restaurant staff for being too attentive to their guests. Considering the restaurant, atmosphere, and price, I appreciate it. Solid meal, would definitely go again just for the sushi. Pricing is up there, but not outrageous by NYC standards.

Delicious! Everything about this place was great. If you’re looking for nothing more than steak, you gotta check this place out. Came here for a late lunch and the place was nice and empty. It was a holiday weekend, but I’m sure at 3PM, there aren’t many people eating. We shared the bacon wrapped shrimp and a steak and it was amazing. Anything with bacon is amazing, but for some reason, this one was outstanding. Our steak was cooked to perfection and the garlic mashed and spinach just finished off the meal perfectly. There’s really not much else to say, but perfect steaks and great sides to go with. Their menu is simple and really is just steak. The service was outstanding and I had a great meal and experience. Would definitely come back for more!

Came here in Dec for dinner(I know, a bit late in my review). We started with the Tuscan Kale Salad and Thick Cut Maple Glazed Bacon. The salad was delish(should’ve told them to hold off on the feta cheese, but that was my fault) and the bacon was amazing(though still not at good as Lugers). Then we shared NY strip in medium rare, which was perfectly cooked(didn’t want to be over stuffed, b/c dessert is a MUST!)! yum! We ended the night with the Banana Cream Pie and OMG was it good! it was like the perfect banana crème brule… I think I would go back just for the banana cream pie!
