I’m not a huge fan of the drip coffee here(I prefer to go across the street to Intelligentsia for that), but this place is perfect for a quick, quiet breakfast after a walk on the High Line. The avocado toast is some of the best in the city, with chunky, delicious bread, a generous serving of ripe avocado, and lime juice squeezed on top. Don’t miss it.

Tucked behind the Highline in Chelsea is Under Line Coffee. Space is cute and quiet. Plenty of table space to bring your computer and do work or sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend. Coffee was okay, didn’t blow me away. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I got a 12 oz Latte and it was $ 4.25

Their music is really loud. I was trying to work here, and the music really annoyed me, both music choice and the volume.

Delicious, delicious cappuccino. It’s a small cute spot with very friendly employees. Don’t come expecting a huge cup, either. This coffee is meant for sipping at the stand up wooden bench. Great spot, I’ll come back.

Stopped in while waiting for a brunch reservation. I decided to get an espresso shot and my friend got a mint tea iced. The tea was pretty good. The espresso shot, however, was extremely sour. So sour I couldn’t finish it. Instead of creating a fuss I just left and decided to grab something at brunch. I think their coffee grind is too course and under extracted, thus the sourness.

I get iced coffee here every morning. Service is really fast and the coffee is great. They could add some more breakfast /pastry options.

Under Line Coffee NY Manhattan Chelsea 12:30pm Thursday 24th September 2015 Four Stars As the name suggests Under Line Coffee is located directly below the High Line on 20th. This narrow hallway of a shop has 3 two-top tables, a four person bar counter at the front, and 7 person L shaped bar counter at the back. The East wall is white brick and the West Wall is blue brick. They have assortment of quasi matching lighting fixtures. The reason I came here was because the Cups App had a food special today. So I came to try their mashed avocado toast($ 2 instead of $ 5) plus a cold brew($ 2 instead of $ 3.75). If you haven’t downloaded the app and use my code«25pn5» and we both get free coffee. The coffee was served in a clear plastic cup with crescent ice. The color was cloudy brown with a sheen of oil. The taste was slightly bitter with tangy acidity and notes of caramel. The texture lingers on your tongue. The caffeine was mild. The 3.5 cm thick multigrain bread was freshly toasted and covered with large chunks of ripe avocado. The bread had delicious crunchy bits of grains and seeds, the inside had an airy texture, and finished with a hint of sweetness. The seasoning had a spicy kick. However, there was no olive oil or salt on top. Luckily they have salt packets. I think they concentrate more on the espresso than anything else. According to their social media barista Rich Cummins won the East coast Coffee competition. I saw a beautiful Iced Cappuccino with scooped foam on top. Next time, I will try The Chelsea(an iced latte with anise infused shots of espresso and maple syrup) and SL28 Fizz(grapefruit juice, tonic and espresso). Also their house made almond milk. Note they don’t have a restroom. They do have wifi: ul coffee; ulcoffee511

Came here due to some high review on a website, had not checked Unilocal. Good spot if you’re near by and want to cool off at a laid back spit that’s not crowded. It’s a great place to get work done on an afternoon. I had the almond milk latte with their home made almond milk and used the counter culture hologram beans for the espresso which is a bean blend from South America and Africa. The latte itself was disappointing. Will not make the top 10 spots in Manhattan list. Pros– cool vibe, chill spot, good music, friendly baristas, wifi, power outlets, not very crowded.

Nice little coffee shop located under the High Line. It’s the only location in town. Today I ordered their house brew which is a light brew and is fruity with a light tea texture. It’s soft tones give it a light body. For $ 2.25 for a small, it’s a great deal. Great coffee house for a quick pick up!

Swung by on a warm Saturday afternoon looking for my iced coffee fix. The place looks nice, artsy, typical Chelsea/NYC independent coffee shop. They only have whole milk out and only serve suger or «pure”-via(of course). Nothing really wrong with that, just adds to the organic ambiance I guess. I took issue with 2 things: First — the girl told us they had no bathroom. Now I get a retail store not offering its bathroom, but to not have a bathroom available when you are in the business of serving drinks is weird to me. Second — their«cold brew» iced coffee tasted more like watery milk than it did coffee. Highly disappointed as I like my coffee strong and everything about this place screams like it’s going to come through with a real good cup o’ joe. Total let down. I drank half and tossed the rest.

«Meh. I’ve experienced better.» is exactly the right way to sum U Coffee up. It was my first time there so I went for the house blend. Terrible decision. The coffee was weak and lacked flavor. I quickly wished I had gone somewhere else. I thought maybe if I put something in it(I drink coffee black) that it would help, but I didn’t want to weaken the flavor of coffee even more, so I asked for cinnamon. They apparently don’t have any, which is strange given they have it on the sandwich menu. I chucked my coffee and when on my merry way. That said, the cashier was friendly, and the place is cute. Its designed to have coffee only drinkers kind of drink and go, with a shallow bar against the wall. There are 3 tables for those eating. Not necessarily a bad thing, esp since people sit at coffee shops for hours upon end, milking their one dinky coffee, but just noting it as its not a place to go cuddle up with a book. Go to Fika. Enjoy the deliciousness.

Underline is actually one word, and this error is killing folks’ ability to find them on Unilocal.Sadly the nice guy who prepared my cinnamon ‘sandwich’ couldn’t make it non-open-faced, nor tasty or substantial, yet brutally charged $ 4.08 for it. Nice spot, too, what a shame — they’ve removed one of their 4 original sandwiches, so hopefully they give this the ax next… knew I should’ve gone avocado smash.

Nice place to have a coffee while walking the High Line on a cold day. Though the prices could be a bit lower…

The sign beckoned from Highline, so we bypassed Chelsea Market and snuck down to check Underline out. Small, simple décor. I like the flow of the place, with to go orders made at a little podium away from the coffee bar. So why three stars? The nickel and dime prices. Almond milk was an extra dollar, making my forgettable cappuccino $ 4.75. And before you say«it’s an expensive area, dude» — Billy’s Bakery, Doughnut Plant, Ninth Street Espresso in Chelsea Market and Stumptown at Ace Hotel ALL sell a more memorable drink for cheaper. I’d like to give you another chance, Underline — but I’ll wait till you price check yourself(before you wreck yourself).

I spotted their sign while strolling down the High Line park, and since it was a super-blustery day the thought of a hot beverage was irresistible. It’s a cute little place, with a warm modern-but-rustic décor. I wanted a vanilla latte but I was informed they don’t have flavors so I just got a latte. I asked if they had a restroom but alas, not open to the public. The coffee was good and I’m sure it’s a nice place to hang out, but I had to look for a place with a bathroom, lol.

Do you fancy a coffee while walking the High Line? Then avoid this place, as you’ll better served elsewhere. For Under Line Coffee has all the superficial aspects of an independent café, with none of the delivery. Yep, it looks cute alright. A small space in one of the many former warehouses in the area. A variety of brewing methods, including Aeropress, filter and most strikingly, manual espresso machines. A couple of young guys who when they’re not enthusing about their coffee are earnestly exchanging jazz anecdotes with each other. The coffee, however, is nowhere near as convincing. The latte I had was weak and the milk slightly burnt. Coffee enthusiasts rave about the potentially excellent shots manual espresso machines can generate, but here all they had succeeded in churning out was a couple of duds(my girlfriend’s coffee included). Ouch. There have got to be better cafes around. Failing that however, you’d likely be better off ordering a coffee to go from any one of the restaurants in the area.

This is a diamond in the rough. A well thought out cand savoury bites… What a delight! I ordered a Iced Coffee which comes as a 16oz for $ 3.75 and a slice of the pistachio and cardamon cake. Both were really flavorful ans fresh. There certainly a wonderful change from the dull chain options around the city. I found the little bowl of boiled eggs for sale at the cashier particularly charming. As were both of the gentlemen working in the café. Go and relax your tired feet after walking the Highline, Brandon will take good care of you.

Charming spot near an entrance to the High Line. They carry great coffees and brew them skillfully via aeropress or pourover(hand pour). I adore the décor — it’s a mix of form and function with gorgeous flooring and little antique touches here and there. Nice owner and baristas, which goes a long way in the specialty coffee industry. Prices and offerings are fair and comparable to other craft coffee shops.

I really dig this spot! The coffee is really nicely balanced, and the people who work here are super nice. I love the«make your own picnic» selection, as well. The décor is simple yet inviting. Lastly, there are some really great pastry options, like the pistachio cardamom. It’s definitely tucked away, but it’s worth checking out!
