Unity Yoga

This studio and all the teachers are absolutely amazing! I’ve done several different types of yoga (Iyengar, vinyasa, Bikram) and wanted to find a studio that I loved as much as the one I used to go to in California, and this is it!
The instructors are extremely knowledgable and approachable, and there are so many types of classes offered that anyone can find something that benefits their style of practice. For instance, there are classes dedicated to core strength, classes designed to help open up and stretch the hips, and classes for those in the community at a reduced cost. Additionally, each month the studio picks a pose to focus on, so in each class there is an opportunity to gain insight into the benefits of a certain pose and how to work up to being able to do the pose. I like this because it offers greater insight and a chance to be challenged on the mat. (I tend to become frustrated with classes that have the same routine over and over again without changes, which is not what happens at Unity Yoga!).
Furthermore, the studio has great amenities! They provide yoga mats, hand towels, showering towels, and shampoo and body wash-​and the bathroom has a hair dryer. But the best part is the community feel. I really feel like I am a member of the Unity Yoga community, because instructors and receptionists know my name and ask about me, and vice versa. I would absolutely recommend trying out the studio! They have a great introductory month, too, which is how I got started!

Absolutely the best yoga I’ve found in NYC. I tried ClassPass for my first month in the city and tried out all of the fancy yoga studios, but none of them felt like home. As soon as I started going to Unity I knew I had found the perfect fit. The classes are heated (but not overwhelmingly so) and they’re a great workout. The best part is the people at the studio – it really feels like family.

This is the best yoga I’ve ever done, hands down. The staff is so friendly and the classes are really challenging and offer a great workout. It’s also spotless and I love that they provide everything you need: mats, blocks, binds, towels, showers and private dressing areas.

I’m a monthly member here. This place is as good as it gets:
— clean bathrooms, changing rooms and showers with shampoo, body wash and towels. Mat rental included in the price.
— friendly teachers and staff.
— love the morning classes that are early enough so that you can wake up with yoga.
— Tiffany and Hannah have given me some phenomenal classes where I really felt amazing after class.
— each month, they teach you an advanced pose. You get a whole month to work on that one pose, and no matter how hard it is, you could achieve it by the end of the month. Really clever teaching method, it’s awesome.
— I’ve tried pretty much all the yoga studios on ClassPass… in the end, I cancelled ClassPass and chose this studio over any other studio I’ve been to, including the massively popular Yogamaya. They just really pay attention to correct form at Unity and are very dedicated to your practice. They helped me make some real improvements here, even though I’ve been practicing yoga for a long time.

— Classes are ‘warm’ but not ‘hot’ to me, but I think this is subjective. I love this temperature. I don’t think I would do well if it was any hotter.
Please, please add a members mat storage area! I have to use a very thick mat for my wrist, so I always have to bring my own. I don’t plan on leaving this studio :)

This is a great yoga studio. Unlike many other crowded, sticky, smelly studios, Unity Yoga has high ceilings, plenty of space, and seems to be very clean. You can borrow their nice mats and they clean them after every use! I think they also clean the blocks! The studio also has changing rooms and nice bathrooms and showers. It feels very comfortable when you are not cramped and crowded! Their instructors are also great and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful.

I’m finishing up my first month at Unity and LOVE it. The space is beautiful, clean and inviting. The teachers are all fantastic and all have varied styles so no class is the same. The monthly membership is a great deal and the class schedules are accommodating to my crazy work schedule.

Awesome facility and instructors. Better than most places in the city. Can’t wait to go back.

The studio is very clean and provides all the amenities you need (hair ties, blow dryer, showers, changing rooms, towels, matts, etc). The instructors all have different approaches, which keeps things interesting. Great schedule too!

I wish I could give 6 stars! This place is amazing — great classes, super clean, convenience of dressing rooms, showers and the all important mobile app. I was here for a week and ended up going 4 times ($ 50 starting month was the perfect deal) and would have been there 7 if work hadn’t intervened. Definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a Harlem yoga studio.

Unity only has one yoga studio and one waiting area. Between the two are a locker area and a place to hang coats. Then, I guess, there’s a bathroom.
On the plus side: the studio is spacious, so you don’t feel crowded together, even when the class is full. I thought that the instructor was very good. The other practitioners also seemed to be a cool, diverse group of people. The monthly package rate is phenomenal.
On the minus side: they recently changed their approach, so now all of the classes are heated (it used to be heated/​non-​heated on alternate days). I don’t like heated classes. So now I don’t know if I’ll be going back.
Also, the studio doesn’t have any windows and can feel a little dark and stuffy.

Great space, amazing teacher, an all around great experience and one of my favorite studios in the city. I feel safe supported and strong! I tried the flow and hip openers class and I can’t wait to go back (I’m a classpass user and I used all 3 visits in less than 2 weeks!). Definitely recommend!

This studio is incredible. The space is beautiful, extremely clean, and the complimentary blocks, mats, and towels are fantastic (Plus they use Mrs. Meyers handsoap!)
The instructors are wonderful, and have been extremely helpful for me. I am fairly new to regular yoga practice, but they have all worked within my abilities since the day I started. This is the first fitness regimen I have actually wanted to stick with in a very, very long time.
The dedication to finishing with Savasana, and the small amount of aromatherapy is perfect.
The price is absolutely unbeatable. I have not found another yoga studio that is as wonderful for such a low monthly rate.
My favorite class has been the Hip Openers with Nicki… love love love it!

My husband and I have been going to Unity Yoga regularly since it started one year ago and highly recommend this place. Sarah has created a great studio culture. If you go regularly you really feel the physical and mental benefits of the classes, which are both challenging and varied.
The teachers are very knowledgeable and really work with you to assist you in better alignment (I feel like my yoga practice has significantly improved since coming here because of this). Their pose of the month offers a way for students to work on more challenging/​intermediate poses — such as Forearm Balance, Wheel, etc — in much more depth.
It is also very customary for the yoga teachers to give a shoulder assist after corpse pose with peppermint oil at every class — really nice touch. Most classes also end with a group «ohm.» I always leave each class feeling rejuvenated and strong.
Very clean facilities, very easy access to the express ABCD stop at 125^th Street.

Beautiful space, great teachers, and always an amazing yoga session. I wish I could package this place up and carry it with me when I travel.
The weekend classes seem to have a better flow to them. The 1045 Hip Openers class is a personal favorite.

The owner is a pure doll! Such a pleasure going there. The teachers are so warm and inviting and friendly. So so so clean and well thought out space. I hope they are around for years!!!

I rarely feel compelled to write reviews, but this studio is a gem! It’s quite spacious for New York, clean and industrial chic design, and everyone is really nice. The work is in the details, and everything from the yoga mats to the Mrs. Meyers hand soap in the sparkling bathroom with showers is just so satisfying. There is even a jar with auxiliary hair ties! What a touch!
The studio room itself is huge.
I love this place, and I’m so glad that I found it on a whim. The first month deal for newcomers ($ 48 unlimited) is also a steal!

I’ve never written a Unilocal review before, however I felt obliged to support this place because its so amazing — and not only because it’s right across the street from my apartment. I’ve taken classes with both Sarah and Rachel, who have been incredibly friendly and warm in their approach to teaching and assisting (even at the early hours of the morning). They seem more like friends than yoga teachers, which is part of what makes this place (and everyone that works there) super welcoming.
Since starting at this studio, I’ve gone 2 – 3 times a week because I enjoy it so much. The actual studio is gorgeous (exposed brick, low lighting), the heating is perfect, mats and towels are provided, class times are spread throughout the morning and evening, and bathrooms and changing rooms are sleek and clean. They make the process so easy and comfortable that you’ll want to keep going back. Everyone that works there has been so great that I hope this place stays open for a long time. It’s an absolutely perfect addition to the Harlem area. I feel spoiled that I live so close :)

I love Unity Yoga! I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot having such an amazing yoga studio open around the block from my apartment. Everything about it is incredibly convenient. The website and free downloadable app makes signing up for class super easy. Once you arrive you just tell the receptionist your name and you are all set to go. They also provide free towels, blocks and really nice mats that you can use at any class so you literally don’t have to bring anything but yourself. The inside is huge so you aren’t accidentally touching your neighbor in certain poses. It is also equipped with with changing rooms, showers and toilets in case you need to get somewhere on the run.
The class selection is amazing and it has something for everyone wether you wanted heated or non-​heated, or if you would like to focus on certain parts of your body, they have it all. I’ve taken classes with a few different instructors and have enjoyed all of their classes. I have dabbled with yoga here and there but it wasn’t until I started taking classes with Sarah that I became completely hooked. She is an amazing teacher and is really great at incorporating different variations in each class so you never get bored. I have gained so much strength and perspective from my practice here.
I can’t say enough about Unity Yoga. Do yourself a favor and give it a try!

I really like Unity Yoga. Their facilities are very nice and spacious and they offer complimentary towels, props and top notch mats. I like their pricing structure which makes classes accessible to working Janes like myself who have a regular practice. $ 72 for an unlimited monthly pass is wonderful.
I’ve only taken one class so far. Even though it was a challenging core/​inversion centric class, it wasn’t a style of teaching that would scare new or rusty students away.
I have had a regular practice at another studio with a different teacher on their schedule and she is awesome so I figure that they will have all around good classes.
One negative is that it seems that most of the classes are heated. Hopefully they will incorporate more non heated classes as they grow. Or maybe I’ll grow to like heated classes?

Went to the open house this Friday. The location was huge and the staff were super knowledgeable. Will definitely go back here for a few classes. They offer both heated and unheated classes. The types of class they offer are also different from most of the studios in the area. You definitely feel like you’re getting a workout instead of a long stretch. They also offer mats and towels for free which is a huge plus.
