Been coming here for about a week now. The coffee is good. Way better than Starbucks and no line. They also have ice cream!

yes, I know they specialize in coffee, but after passing by it a zillion times where it’s usually parked near Madison Square and looking at their ice cream menu, I finally decided to take the plunge on a hot, summer day and frankly, I was extremely disappointed. I got a scoop of their Mint Chip(one of my favorite flavors at any ice cream shop) and was immediately taken aback by the rather off-putting flavor that tasted much less than natural. worse, the texture was akin more to the ice milk of yesteryear than actual ice cream. if this is their idea of artisan, I’ll see everyone at the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop… btw, I also asked about their chai tea and how sweet the concentrate they make it from was. the young lady serving that day offered me a taste, but instead of getting a sip of the completely-made product, she instead poured a bit of the bitter concentrate for me to drink! uh, HELLO — did she think concentrate would give me a true sense of what it tastes like made? oh well, at least now I can pass by the truck another zillion times and know I’m not missing anything…

For those that are curious, it’s NOT only a Coffee Truck but they do sell Ice Creams too. I’ve been to the one located in Meatpacking District many many times and glad they are in Chelsea near where I work. Now that it’s summertime and the weather can be a bit sticky and humid, I’m gonna try to frequent this Truck to get the Earl Grey Ice Cream for an afternoon snack that is just so perfectly creamy with the right amount of sweetness. Wish they had the Basil + Black pepper ice cream that was pretty interesting or just simply Basil Ice Cream which is definitely refreshing!

Great place for street coffee. The actually take their time to make it and the results are great. Cappuccino is wonderful and the hot chocolate is incredibly rich, not city bakery type, but well close. Service is relatively fast and the people there are nice. Haven’t had the ice cream yet, but if you’re in the mood for good coffee, this place will stop you in your tracks, and you’ll be well satisfied.

Van Leeuwen proudly displays the big red bag of Intelligentsia coffee that’s roasted especially for them in the front window of the truck. I’d be proud of that too if I were serving such a great blend of coffee. $ 2.75 for a large and it’s very smooth. Obviously 2 – 3 times the price of the typical coffee from a truck but really far superior to starbucks.

Hazelnut ice cream, with REAL Hazelnuts. The fact they offer this out of a moving truck and the ice cream doesn’t leak out of the sides means Van Leeuwen, whoever this guy is, did not fail at life. A must have and the fact it is parked across the street from Eataly means only one thing: GELATOFIGHT!!!

Number 1 — I normally don’t get coffee from an ice cream truck. For those bashing their coffee service there are Starbucks and multiple places close by for caffeine consumption throughout the day. Since I did see multiple people ordering coffee from them while waiting on line I have to assume it is decent. Number 2 — Their ice cream is terrific. Creamy, great flavor, superb quality. So many great exotic flavors to choose from. Currants and Cream, Earl Grey Tea, Ginger, Cinnamon, and others. A bit pricey for a small cup at $ 3.95, but worth it for a once in a while treat. Extra toppings will run you an additional dollar or so. So close to Madison Square Park that you can get your ice cream and walk across the street to sit on a bench and enjoy.

It was parked right in front of Starbucks, so… of course, why not? Great positioning. It was too damn cold for ice cream, but my latte hit the spot to guide me through an afternoon… and I didn’t throw $ 4 at corporate coffee. Win! In a truck.

For those of you who like your hot chocolate not too sweet but not too rich and thick either, this truck is for you. Using Ingredients of superb quality, this freshly prepared comforting drink has the perfect creamy consistency without being super thick, and a robust chocolate flavor that’s not overpowering. I love the dark Michel Cluizel chocolate they use, which has a flavor very well suited for a drinking chocolate, in my opinion.

Not sure how often they move this puppy but there is also one at 5th ave between 15th and 16th. Here’s the thing about coffee — its really most important at the START of the day. So they don’t open until 8a which means I mostly won’t even be here by that late but occasionally, after a big night, I’m sluggish to get to work right on time. What better occasion to stumble over to the Van Leeuwen coffee truck and grab some high quality Joe? Apparently its just not that occasion because being ready to serve coffee, even by 8p is too tall an order for the hipsters. And their coffee is good, not great. And seriously, get yer @ss to the coffee spot on time. Give me a break here.

I don’t know if this is the right truck but Coach sponsored them today and they gave out free ice cream!!! The whole truck was covered with coach logos. I had the ginger ice cream, at first I was skeptical since it was ginger after all, but I’m glad I took the risk. It was amazing!!! I wouldn’t mind paying next time. ;)

I know it’s a coffee truck, but try their ice cream. It’s quite simply stunning. At 3.45 for a single cone, it’s a good deal for gourmet ice cream. Fav flavs. not to be confused with the clock guy. earl grey, mint choco chip, and ginger. I will be back for more. if I can chase them down.

Oh, my goodness. One of the greatest coffee experiences of my life. It’s been a while but I still remember… waiting in the cold, my wife got hers first. It was beautiful, the design in the foam and coffee was an intricate leaf. Took a snapshot with my phone. I got a latte the design was not as well done, I put a half a thing of sugar. After my first sip I wish I hadn’t; the natural sweetness was sort of freaking me out. Is this coffee? Another sip, It’s coffee it’s just the smoothest coffee ever. I don’t recall, before or since, ever experiencing a more perfect cup. This was about six months ago. I gotta go back.

Just got some pastries, but they were quite tasty. Sicilian fig newton was new to me but very good, though I wouldn’t get again. The hazelnut brown butter cake was superb.

The Van Leeuwen’s new coffee truck is a great addition to their family ice-crème trucks. The espresso is good, but euphoric when pored over their vanilla ice-cream in the«Affogatos.» Screw all coffee-flavored ice-creams of the world, settle only for the affogato.
