Wafels and Dinges

Got the double trouble, after I almost finished I realized they didn’t even put one ingredient which was bananas. For $ 13 bucks you better put all the ingredients in that were supposed to come with it.
As for the taste it was good, not as hot as I would have liked. I give it 3 and half stars.

Tried the baconana, which is a waffle with chocolate syrup, bacon slices, and banana. The bacon and chocolate was so good together! Was sad when they ran out of ice cream though. It’s a pretty small waffle for $ 10, but it is worth trying. I shared it with 2 other people, but you can definitely eat one all to yourself.

They don’t make the waffles fresh anymore. I loved them years ago when they did. Now they simply reheat. If you want a fresh waffle without the extras, get a liege from Blue Bottle. Always fresh and made to order. Their batter is delicious so no need for extra sweet toppings.

Not happy to wait so long when people behind me got orders made and left, pretty frustrating, the Nutella and bacon was good the waffle not so good

The always wonderful Wafels and Dinges actually has a few permanent locations in addition to their trucks. This one is a small kiosk in Herald Square. They sell wonderful waffle desserts with delicious toppings. I got a double decker waffle with nutella and whipped cream to share. It is different from a regular waffle. It is more like a pastry than a waffle. It is crisp and sugary and delicious.
Definitely not something to have often, but always savored. The service here was also very kind and quick.
I’ll come to this location whenever I need a waffley, sugary fix.

Disappointing. We were drawn to the stand because of the aromas floating through the air. I am a lover of most carbs, and even though I wanted to like this, it just didn’t do it for me. Maybe it was just our batch of waffles, maybe it was just this location, but honestly it was just mediocre. For $ 8 (v pricey for a singular waffle), there’s so many other things you could spend your money on. Especially here in the city.
They have pre-​created options, but they also have just a basic waffle ($ 7) that comes with a free dinges (topping). Each additional topping after is $ 1. We chose our own toppings and had a waffle with speculoos cookie crumble and strawberries ($ 8 total).
While the waffle was warm, it wasn’t crispy enough. They honestly didn’t even taste like they were freshly made… Maybe reheated? Would have liked to have had it cooked just a little longer. The speculoos cookie crumble had a slight hint of gingerbread, but it wasn’t mind blowing and I almost didn’t even notice it on my waffle. Additionally I was expecting fresh strawberries, but it was a strawberry compote instead. Sad.
Not a fan of Waffles & Dinges thus far, but perhaps I’ll give it another shot at a different location if I feel compelled to have a waffle.

i’ve been to Belgium. home to the waffle and Nutella so TRUST me when i say THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! I love this location at the park. its convenient and i know it’ll always be there. WAD’s food trucks can always be in different locations so i tend to just go to this one every time I’m in the city.
My friend bought the ‘throwdown’ and i got the strawberry/​banana creation (forgot the name). total for both items? $ 19.
i understand it’s expensive, but it is SO WORTH IT. the waffles here are fluffy yet crispy on the outside. their toppings are always fresh and the service is fast and def made with love.

The wonder is not in the waffle but the gingerbread spread. Omg. I just go back and just purchase the spread… which they do sell in a jar! Its an upgrade to peanut butter although I don’t enjoy peanut as a spread. Yuk!

A little pricey but the food is really good. It’s located right in Bryant Park and a great spot to go to on a nice, sunny day. You may also be waiting in line a bit and napkins/​utensils were harder to come by than I’d have liked but great waffles.

Delicious! I like this location much better than the one in herald square — it’s just as hectic, but there are more seating options (hello, you have the whole park) and there isn’t traffic surrounding you on all sides. This time, I had a waffel with speculoos butter, bananas, powdered sugar and whipped cream. My friend had Nutella, strawberries and walnuts on hers. So good!

This place was delicious! I came here with my boyfriend and another friend so we had three different waffles: D
–Waffle with Nutella and strawberries
–Waffle with bacon
–Waffle with smores
all with no whip cream.
This place is usually pretty crowded so it’s up to you if you want to be here. If you want more your own space, then probably elsewhere. I didn’t mind eating here. People eat pretty fast and seating areas near by open up. I don’t see it as much of a problem.
Mostly for sweet tooth people. If you don’t like things sweet, don’t come here just to end up giving a bad review, or the seating limitation, that’s out of their control. You’re at a park, not at their restaurant.

I am glad I have access to the good old Belgium style waffles as opposed to the less desirable American style. Although on the pricey side at over $ 10 for my waffle, I did enjoy it and it served well as a treat.
I ordered the waffle that comes with Nutella & walnuts and added strawberries. It was really good, thumbs up from me!

While walking by Bryant park, we smelled the delicious aroma of waffles cooking and we had to order one.
Unfortunately I wasn’t overly impressed with my waffle. I forgot the flavor. It had the walnut sprinkles and chocolate topping. While the toppings tasted good albeit too sweet, the waffle texture was very soggy and I honestly think I can make better waffles at home via frozen eggos packs.
The waffle is already a bit overpriced, and if you pay via credit card, the prompt asks for a tip ranging from 0 to 15, 18 and 20%. I chose 15% thinking someone was gonna bring my waffle out for me by where we were sitting.
Instead, they give you one of those vibrating gizmos like when you are waiting for a seat at cheesecake factory and you have to pick up the waffle yourself. Some guy handed it to me and he wasn’t all that friendly. So 15 percent tip for nothing.
I was gonna give 3 stars but then I saw the Unilocal review with the rats eating their supplies! Bleh!

I would recommend the other dinguses for waffles, this is a bit too cramped and not as efficient in comparison to the other spots.
Good idea though, a better place to go than most of the places around there though there are better desserts a bit outside of Bryant Park.

definitely too much hype over this place. we stumbled upon this stall around 9:30 pm Saturday night after the cart near Madison square garden closed. the waffles were cold, hard as a rock, and tasted slightly stale.
ordered the wafel with speculoos, strawberries, and cream ($ 8). quite a disappointment. the speculoos was practically frozen on top of the wafel instead of melting into it.
had heard so many great things about this place for years and was so jazzed to finally try their famous wafels. also checked other Unilocal reviews AFTER eating here and EEEKKK they are infested with rats. I feel sick finding this out :(

Small place set up in Bryant Park, it was a great dessert spot for us to have after eating dinner. They’re known for what is apparently the other kind of Belgian waffle. We got De Bom, a waffle with a scoop of a hazelnut flavored ice cream drizzled with chocolate. It tasted great, but the waffle tasted different in my opinion, a little like the Pilsbury biscuit mix.

So delicious. The stunning girlfriend and I got every topping except for dulce de leche and fudge (because we didn’t want it overly sweet!); and it was heaven.
Make sure to get speckuloos, bananas, strawberries, and liege waffles. You won’t go wrong.

I usually choose waffles over pancakes for breakfast and so I didn’t expect much out of Wafels & Dinges. I tried it for the first time in this painful & chilly NY weather and man oh man! It was pretty good. Maybe it was the weather that made it extra tasty but hey, I don’t mind that at all :-)
However, I got the s’mores one and the waffle was just smothered with the spekuloos butter… a little too much for my liking. The waffle itself was good but not to the point where I would excessively talk about it when I go back to socal. I couldn’t really tell the difference between the waffle and the waffle at any other fancy restaurants. Also, I would recommend choosing your own toppings.
The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is because my waffle and the spekuloos hardened and froze before I could even finish it

Don’t go when they’re mad busy– they make a bunch of waffles and set the on the side for faster service, but that really takes away from the happiness of a piping hot waffle and initial exterior crunch and doughy interior :(
If you do catch them making your waffle after you order, these wafels are SO AMAZING! I had them on a 19 °F day last winter and fell in love, especially since the wafel was steaming in my frigid hands. This year, I made a mistake and went to the Bryant Park location during the holidays. The workers were pretty curt and a bit unfriendly, probably overwhelmed from being busy. Semi-​old waffles that were a bit soggy on the outside from being stacked on top of one another, and the speculoos didn’t melt all the way. Still good, but definitely a disappointment compared to last year.

To be honest this place is overrated and hyped up too much. The waffles are delicious but just as delicious as the average waffles with all kinds of toppings. This isn’t a place I would come often as its over priced but something you can check out once in NYC!
