I hate moving more than anyone I know. I am hardly ever prepared and get so anxious that just thinking about it keeps me up the night before. I am a return customer of WestSide movers. My latest team of Efrain, Koi and Harry made my move into a 5^th floor walk up beyond breezy. The only thing I forgot was my anxiety, it’s at my old apartment. I will use Westside for all my moves to come.

My sister and cousin both recommend them and I’m glad I listened. Matt and Jon were beyond helpful and quick to respond. They handled the COIs and worked with the building directly. They dropped off boxes and all packing materials the day after I booked including tape, bubble wrap, and wrapping paper.
The movers were on-​time, careful, quick, reasonably priced, and friendly. I couldn’t have asked for a smoother and more appropriately budgeted process.

********Update********: it seems that the company was unable to get in touch with me because my number was marked incorrectly, they did get in touch with me though a number for my husband. I really appreciate that Matt took the time out to speak to me and to make things right even if it took a bit longer than expected-​shows persistence on their part to make things right. I appreciate that they are a small business and would consider giving them my business again in the future since I’ve had such a wonderful experience with them in the past.*****
We used WSM about 3 years ago for a long, complicated and very involved move. They were spectacular. So much so, that whenever I heard someone was moving I sang their praises. To me it was a no brainer to use them again.
We were moving from a 1br to a 2br across a courtyard-​google maps put it at 348ft away. Should be fairly easy right? I got a quote over the phone, which I understood could change, but I suspected not by much since I had been detailed with the guy over the phone about exactly what we had.
Fast forward to moving day. I’m 7 months pregnant and doing my best in a stressful situation. The movers show up at the top of the hour (but don’t start moving until 20 mins past) and immediately act all bent out of shape that they will have to do any work at all. The driver shows up, uses my bathroom (which I don’t mind)-pisses all over the seat and then rants around my apartment about this being a two day job. I’m not a mover but it’s a 1br, it won’t take two days. He then refused to work unless they called for another guy (while he sat in the truck) for which I WAS CHARGED.
A brass and glass display cabinet of mine was broken in the move, so as a «courtesy» the Forman didn’t charge me for special handling. He tallied my bill and gave my 3 different final numbers, all getting larger in size as he had forgotten things each time-​all at least $ 600 above my initial quote. In the end I just wanted it to be over, I was pleased with two of the movers but the rest had piss poor attitudes, I didn’t want to include the driver in my tip since he had been such a baby and refused to work (and again, I somehow had to pay for that?) In any event, I provided a tip of 20%-and the Forman said he «couldn’t twist my arm» but that it should be more (we also ordered everyone lunch). I was floored. Are you kidding? Tipping is for great service, my husband worked as a bartender for years-​he wasn’t earning an hourly wage like these guys and would never have said that to a customer. It was astounding.
I called the company the next day and explained the situation, they seemed genuinely unnerved by my experience and said they would have an internal meeting and call me back. I followed up about a week later after not hearing back and was told someone would be in touch, Matt I believe. Another week has passed and I’m writing this review.

My husband and I just moved from the Upper West Side to Scarsdale and cannot praise Westside Movers enough! They split it up and did all the packing in one day and then came early the next morning for the actual move. Everyone that was on the job from Hena the formean to all the movers and packers– Koi, Rich D, Jose, and Alex were all delightful. They packed everything beautifully and even helped me to configure my furniture layout at the new house since I have zero design ability. Everyone was so professional and had such a positive attitude that they eliminated 99% of the stress from moving. Westside is a fantastic choice for movers and I’m happy to support a local family business!

West side movers was a great choice! Everything from the price to the service could not have been better. As a first time mover, I was happy that the person I spoke to on the phone was both friendly and informative, which made my move as easy as a move could possibly be. High recommended!

You ever move in with a seemingly normal roommate and find out she’s a complete psycho? Like the kind of quiet psycho who steals your clothes when you’re not around and licks your leftover food just to get a taste? Well if you’re like me, you did and had to move ASAP. My friend recommended West Side Movers because her family has been using them for 20+ years and swore by their service and professionalism. I am so happy I took her recommendation. Everything from the estimate to box delivery to the actual move went perfectly. They were a bit more expensive than other moving companies but I did not feel ripped off and it was worth it to know that I would be taken care of and not have to worry about a bunch of teenagers on skateboards showing up to my house and kicking my boxes around a la Ace Ventura Pet Detective style. I would use them again in a heartbeat. I’m all for supporting small local businesses and if you live in NYC you should be too.

Everything from start to finish was flawless– I gave an estimated number of boxes and when the crew arrived they had additional on deck, which was great because I definitely needed them. They effectively communicated every step of the process and relieved all of the anxiety that moving comes with. My move had two parts and each went seamlessly. They took care of everything on the back end without me having to worry about anything. I have now used West Side Movers for 2 moves and will only continue to use them in the future. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a safe and reliable moving company.

Such a dichotomy here — these guys started out very conciliatory and then got pretty aggressive. We had used this company about 6 years ago. In itself probably a sketchy reason to hire them again. Their MO has changed: now they charge for boxes that are used even if they take them away and use them on the next job, they miscount boxes they’ve supplied and they charge for showing up, driving to you (even though their truck sat outside the whole time since we were moving within our building) and even their lunch hour! Also, they collect TAX on all of the above! The piece de resistance was the foreman who DEMANDED a gratuity of 18%, and refused to leave. There were times when two or three of the crew were just MIA — smoke break? They will still need to account for missing cabinet hardware, dinged wood panels on book cases and so far, one missing box of medicines from the bathroom packed by me!

We had a great experience just this past month: Matt, the CEO of the company came to do a quick estimate in person, was able to send me an estimate within hours of assessing my pack/​move job and overall, his pricing was right in the zone of other quotes that I received. However, West Side was the MOST RESPONSIVE and communicative and even with a small-​ish job, accommodated every need we had. The team, lead by Vadim and 4 other really professional, efficient, tidy, polite, hard-​working guys, all did a great job. I would highly recommend them and definitely use them again, emphasizing how PROFESSIONAL the whole crew was. Also, the estimate was spot-​on in terms of estimating time and labor. Finally, when I was trying to get quotes from other competitors, I found that they often required me to do lengthy questionnaires before offering a price and/​or were reluctant to come assess themselves in person — not very customer-​service focused. With all the competition out there, I would definitely stick to a licensed, experienced company like West Side.

Unprofessional and unreliable. I used them to move between 1 bedrooms. I moved in December 2013 and the experience still stings me enough to write this review 4 months later. The activities of the move:
1) Showed up 1 hr late because they couldn’t find parking. Once they parked they spent the first few hours moving my stuff downstairs. Why they would need 3 people to find parking is beyond me.
2) Arrived with 2 movers and then realized the job was billed for 3.
3) Complained about the rate because the apartment itself had a few steps within
4) Packed the truck and told us to meet at the new place to unpack. They then arrived 1.5 hrs later (it was a 1 mile move) because they were getting lunch. I called their dispatcher many times and was told they were on their way.
5) Managed to break a piece of furniture in the exact spot that I told them the furniture was particularly fragile. Then tried to hide the broken furniture by putting the broken piece within one of the furniture’s drawers without telling anyone.
6) Demanded 20% tip on top of a bill that included over 2 hrs (more than 30% of the time) of them sitting in the car looking for parking and eating sandwiches.

UNRELIABLE!!!
This place can’t even manage to deliver packing supplies in a timely fashion. Ordered mid day on 10÷30÷13 and was told order would be delivered the following AM. Noon rolls around on 10÷31÷13 and nothing. Called and was told delivery would be within 2 hours. 3 pm rolls around, still nothing. Called again and still no delivery by 7 pm. I spent my entire day waiting around on these chumps. I would advise that you not waste your time with this company.
Due to their inability to deliver packing supplies, I would not even consider using them as my movers.
Update on 11÷01÷13: Order still has not arrived by noon. I decided to call and cancel the entire order. I was not going to let these people waste any more of my time. This is by far the worst business I have ever dealt with here in NYC.
Also, the map on their website that shows the minimum amount you must purchase in order to receive delivery is completely false. When you call they will tell you that you have to spend much more than that.
Too bad I can’t give negative stars… this place is not even worthy of 1 star.

The move was perfect! In time and within the quote they provided me. The movers were all professionals with significant experience. No nonsense. Nothing broken, damaged or even scraped! Matt Fiore who is the owner of the business is very professional and courteous. No question, I will hire them again if my family moves!

Although my experience with these folks happened several years ago the bad taste left in my mouth survived to this day. We called West Side Movers to move us approximately 3 miles and the person who showed up to estimate our 1 bedroom apt move via an elevator building was fantastic despite his quote being three times greater than any other company we called. We chose West Side Movers despite the cost because the slick salesman did a great job convincing us they were the best.
The following day four over-​sized, loud, vulgar and bullying Eastern-​Bloc movers showed up on time. But before they would even enter the apartment – and from the hallway – they first wanted to discuss a tip they hadn’t yet earned.
The smooth talking salesperson from the previous day said that their business was family owned and that we could speak with Karen the owner if anything went wrong with the move. Our moving date was on a Sunday and neither the salesperson nor Karen picked up their phones (we believed that we had the salesperson’s cell). We promptly asked the bullies to leave. They wouldn’t leave trying instead to intimidate us. I had to threaten them with calling the police. Not only did we ask them to leave, we also politely asked them to stop cursing and yelling in the hallway as they were exiting the building.
No sooner then they left I called another moving company that was simply divine (and one third the price)! Live and learn.

I hired West Side Movers to pack and load my belongings from an apartment in the West Village in to a POD for a long-​distance move.
When I called for an estimate, they were the only company that was able to come the next day — all the other companies had to schedule for the following week. I got four estimates, and theirs was the most comprehensive and detailed.
On moving day, the crew called me when they were on their way, arrived on time and were friendly and efficient. I had done as much packing as I could, and hired West Side to finish what I couldn’t. They listened carefully to all instructions, and they took great care with packing everything — especially several large but delicate original artworks. They worked quickly and efficiently, and interacted smoothly with the building management and the POD driver.
Towards the end of the day, we were having difficulty because the POD was not quite big enough to fit all my belongings. They had to re-​pack and rearrange the POD several times. I had to jettison a few items, which they took back up to my apartment, and then after lots of hard work at the end of a hard day, they fit everything in! The whole time the crew was personable and easy to work with.
These guys did a great job and made the day as stress-​free as possible. And the price came in at a little less than the estimate, which was great.

I used these guys for a short move several months ago. They showed up on time, they quickly packed everything that I hadn’t packed already, and stuff was moved quickly & safely to my new apartment. It was on par with the service I got from Moishes in a separate move, but it ended up being cheaper and they were more flexible with booking a moving time.

We just moved on Sunday and had a great experience with West Side Movers — I would definitely hire them again. They showed up right on time and had us moved out of our 5^th floor UWS walk-​up to our 3^rd floor Inwood walk up in 4 ½ hours including travel time. Plus, the four guys on the crew were really nice and totally professional the whole time. I honestly have nothing but good things to say about them.
This move cost less and was done in half the time of our last move, and thus far I haven’t come across any broken stuff and nothing seems to be missing.

We used this company twice and although the first move was okay, the second was so negative we will not use them again. The movers showed up late and at the wrong address due to the sloppiness of the move captain. Worse, they were rude and irritable the whole day. They also broke a piece of furniture and concealed it behind a pile of boxes so we wouldn’t notice the damage until after they were gone. Don’t take a risk with these people. Hire someone else.

I like that they offer free delivery and the variety of boxes. However, we ordered two boxes from them and they called me 10 minutes before the delivery time frame to let me know that they were not coming… after I took time off of work to be home for the delivery. They rescheduled the next day and were still not prompt on their delivery time frame. I called to check on the status and I informed the employee that I waited all morning for my 1−2pm delivery. He responded, «I thought your window was from 1 – 2. Why did you wait all morning.» I said, «Are you really being this rude?» Wished I knew they weren’t reliable. What ever happened to customer service? I guess it doesn’t exist at West Side Movers.
