Came here to grab dinner with a friend. The venue is pretty big. Happy hour is until 8pm for select drinks on the menu. We got 2 specials, the spinach artichoke dip and the mahi mahi with asparagus and risotto. Both were really good. The mahi mahi was cooked to perfection, and flavored really well. Would totally come again.

Judging from the positive reviews I’ve read, maybe I caught them on an off-day. We(party of 2) arrived and were asked to wait at the bar for a few minutes while they got our table sorted. 15 minutes later, we were still at the bar and had to go ask someone if it would be much longer. Nobody knew we were waiting. The girl who had seated us was no longer around. So we got seated soon after on the balcony area to the rear. 15 mins later, nobody had taken our order or asked us if we wanted another drink(we carried our mostly empty drinks from the bar). We ordered(steak & eggs and salmon omelette) and the server had to come back 5 minutes later to ask us more questions about how we wanted our order. When the food did arrive, the steak was tiny and the eggs were cold. There was no sign of a server to complain to, and we were already hungry due to the wait, so we just gave in and ate the food. Nobody came near us to ask us for drink-refills or to check if the food was okay. The staff were all very friendly, but just seemed highly disorganized. It’s a shame, because the menu seemed so appealing, but I won’t be rushing back any time soon.

Love the décor in this restaurant. There’s outdoor seating in front and also in back near a small garden. Service was great. Happy hour M-F 11am to 8pm I had lunch here, salmon wrap with fries. Food was good. I would return. Compared to the nearby restaurants their lunch special is slightly pricier.

I came in for lunch on a weekday. They had their rose spritzer cocktail that was on the happy hour special and it was perfectly refreshing on a warm day. The pumpkin gnocchi was good but really garlicky. I think I would prefer a butter cream sauce of sorts like what comes typically on butternut squash. I also had the BLT Wrap which was pretty good except that it came with kale instead of lettuce and I think I would have preferred it with regular lettuce.

Was in the neighborhood and came by for brunch. Not sure why this place was so empty, given the good ratings. For the price, food was decent and variety was pretty good. We also loved the décor, very charming! My friend and I ordered the Nova(eggs Benedict with smoked salmon) and the quinoa salad to share. We loved the salad in particular. Quinoa packed with chick peas, feta cheese, artichokes, arugula, and a really delicious honey pepper vinaigrette! We opted for shrimp as an extra topping. $ 10 for four pieces of shrimp was a little expensive though, will probably just get the salad on its own next time. Will be back to try the burgers and mussels next time!

We topped off our last night in New York by meeting family in Whitman and bloom. First off the irish bar man was so nice to us, we had a group of ten so we were straggling in 1’s and 2’s over the course of an hour so we arranged to meet at the bar, to be honest I would have happily ate at the bar yapping away but we had a table booked anyway. Service was great, everyone was extremely happy with the food options. I got steak and a few others got cheese burgers etc. We lazily drank at the table for about an hour and half after(we had a late reservation so there was no rush for the table) and I happily staggered back to my hotel. Massive thumbs up from me and when I visit New York again I will be having dinner here most definitely again.

Who: Varied crowd What: Nice spot for cocktails. They have about a dozen beers on tap(only $ 7-$ 9). All fancy IPAs I didn’t recognize. I wasn’t a fan of the menu. They have ‘small plates’ that are too small for a meal, too big for an appetizer and too awkwardly textured to share. Most of the entrée items were really random. The food selection of this restaurant reminds of The Smith(another restaurant I do not understand the hype over). Where: Murray Hill/Kips Bay When: I came for an early dinner, but their brunch menu looks decent Why: Friendly staff, great drink selection, low noise level and overall cute restaurant. Why Not: Nothing special. There are better brunch places, better dinner places and better cocktail places in the area.

Came here for a work lunch — lovely space. Seems very cute and perfect for a brunch scene. I ordered the bacon wrapped pork belly slides, but overall the portion was very small considering this was an entrée. Will try again, maybe for brunch next time.

I loved the vibe of the restaurant with the rustic décor yet modern elegance. My friend & I ordered a few cocktails plus an appetizer each. The two drinks I got were really good, would definitely ordered again. I also ordered the pumpkin gnocchi, which I was disappointed in. For an $ 11 appetizer, the portion was really small & the gnocchi itself was way too dense. I was upset when I received the bill though. $ 50 for an appetizer, 2 cocktails, &1 beer during HH? Apparently none of the drinks I ordered were part of HH. which they failed to let us know. They never handed us a separate menu for happy hour or pointed out which drinks were & weren’t discounted. I should’ve known better & asked but on an empty Wednesday afternoon, I assumed it went without saying that we came solely for HH. Had high hopes for this place but too disappointed to come back & give it another chance.

Whitman & Bloom is known as a neighborhood bar, but they also serve a really tasty brunch and dinner. WB also is open to hosting parties in two spaces within the restaurant and the price point is pretty good for Manhattan. Service can be a little weak, but considering that they’re a bar first, perhaps that can be forgiven. I’ve ordered: Mushroom Flatbread Country Flatbread Burger Chicken & Waffles Warm Goat Cheese and Beet Salad Everything is tasty, fresh, and well made. Portions are decently sized and there are plenty of items on the menu that can be shared. At dinner, the tables start with a white bean hummus which is also really tasty. Prices are fair. The space is rustic chic and laid out in a long narrow space. During the day it has plenty of light and I really like the front table that faces the window. There is also a big table out front ont he sidewalk for nicer weather. The back space can be a bit loud. There is plenty of space between tables and I’ve found the environment to be good for sitting and relaxing with friends. The downstairs«private room» space is rather dark and masculine and has its own bar. I’ve worked with WB to plan a baby shower and the prix fixe option is pretty affordable if your table orders cocktails. Email communication with the restaurant can be haphazard at times and service will be leisurely, but management gives you a lot of leeway with decorations, taking your time to finish, and they were never too far away if I needed anything. Our event was for 14 people and we sat upstairs by the second bar. Any event larger than that and WB will put you in the basement instead. Our group had a really good time and had no complaints about food or service. If you’re looking to do a small party, WB is a good casual option!

I loved the mussels here the first time I tried it. Especially with the broth and sourdough. Second time I was disappointed– mussels were abnormally sized(really large) and it didn’t taste fresh. The second time killed it for me and I probably won’t be back

I was in town for the day and looking for a spot to grab dinner with a friend on a Friday night with no wait. After living in New York, I had so many fond memories of good food and even better company so I naturally couldn’t pick where to eat. But I had an inexplicable craving for brussel sprouts so I open up my trusty Unilocal app and search brussel sprouts. Lo and behold, Whitman & Bloom pops up. It was exactly what I wanted. There was no wait and the ambiance was perfect for having a quiet catch-up. I was pretty hungry and ordered the Homemade Fresh Fettuccine(featuring my other true love, mushrooms) and the Charred Brussel Sprouts side. It was exactly what I wanted. The fettuccine had the perfectly doughy, but not overly doughy, consistency and featured many mushrooms and the right amount of sauce. Yum! And the brussel sprouts! not overly greasy, not overly charred, just simple and what I was craving. I couldn’t finish all of my food and was in a food coma after making my best faith effort, which was perfect for helping me nap on the plane ride home. Also, the bread and hummus that they bring out at the beginning was tasty. Good service, and no hassle. Will definitely add this to my list of contenders the next time I’m back.

This restaurant has a great representation of ambiance. It has a rustic and modern twist to it and overall just so cute! However, I definitely would not say the food lives up to the cute look of the place. We first started with a couple drinks, which honestly were delicious. However, we ordered a couple appetizers, salad, and a sandwich. From all the things we ordered, we only enjoyed the beet, and goat cheese salad(besides the drinks). My friend took a bite of this deliver egg that was fried and she could not take another bite again, the tuna tartar was just so fishy as in the typical sushi type fish is very fresh etc, this was just not appealing. My friend barely ate her sandwich. We also felt as though we were rushed to leave. You basically pay for the ambiance in this location which is cute and nice to see once or twice, but that’s about it. I would also go back to just the bar and enjoy the drinks.

Cute and casual place to dine! Also great for big groups. I love the atmosphere here and the food is delicious. My favorite is the fettuccine. The drinks here are also great! I’m my a big drinker, but the honey trap is one of the best cocktails I’ve had in NYC.

A cross between a classic cocktail bar, southern plantation shabby chic, gastropub, and boozy cool ambiance kind of joint. Perfect date spot and gathering point for drinks and light eats with friends. Most bars in this area of bro-Murray Hill area are kind of lame but this one stands out above them. Nice décor, atmosphere, friendly bouncer, good bartenders, and helpful staff. Decent food, selection of beers on tap, and a solid cocktail list. Prices are fair overall. After work during happy hour gets pretty crowded, but drop in later on the weekend nights for a less crowded space with a DJ spinning a great mix of music. A standout in a much maligned part of town known for it’s less than spectacular bro-bar scene.

I had a mixed experience at this restaurant. First, the cocktails were yummy and inventive. Some very compelling flavor combinations that I enjoyed very much. However, I started my meal with oysters and was frustrated when I repeatedly got tiny bits of oyster shell in my mouth. The oysters were on special, so I guess you get what you pay for. For my entrée, I had a salad with blackened salmon. The salmon was cooked well and the portion was quite generous for a salad — I ended up splitting it with a friend. Others in my group tried the tuna tartar — also quite a large portion. The dish seemed overpowered by the amount of avocado.

Really nice ambiance and environment for dining. Super easy to make a reservation. The food was good and came out pretty quickly. However, it took a while to get service. We probably sat for about 20 minutes before a server came over to our table. I had the smoked salmon omelette with avocado and it was tasty but didn’t blow me out of the water. I’d recommend this as a good spot for brunch with consistently good food but I wasn’t overly impressed.

After a couple visits, I’m more inclined to treat this as a restaurant than as a bar. Each time, I found myself surprised at how well-executed the food is, while the drinks and beers are only just okay. I rarely hang out in Murray Hill, but I was curious to try the brunch here, and after I found that my friends made a reservation and we wouldn’t have to wait, I was more than happy to make it over to the east side(it’s really not that far for me, I’m just being annoying). While the menu isn’t quite that innovative(the typical steak, salmon, chicken, salad, flatbread, and fried stuff), everything I’ve had at W&B is pretty darn good. I was very impressed with their burger and their pot o’ mussels. As for brunch, you can’t go wrong with the omelettes or the benedicts. I had the smoked salmon omelette, which was pretty decent, and a fairly good price for the amount of smoked salmon they put in that baby. The benedicts are far from special, but they seem to do a consistently good job, and sometimes that’s all you can really ask for. Service is pretty attentive, albeit not the friendliest. The two times I’ve been here, we’ve gotten our drinks and food fairly quickly, as well as water refills, but both times the waitstaff was fairly impersonal and only seemed concerned with getting us in and out. Absolutely not an issue for me personally, as we were just there for quick meals, but something worth noting if you’re the type who requires a lot of attention. Ha, Murray Hill. Prices are pretty good for the area food-wise, although the prices for drinks are only just okay. I’d come back for a casual dinner if I find myself in the area. There are only so many places I’d eat in Murray Hill, and it’s nice to have a few good options, such as Whitman & Bloom. However, I would go elsewhere for cocktails, as in somewhere other than Murray Hill, haha.

A surprise find! I wanted to check out a place for happy hour and realized that this place has pretty cheap eats! There is a large seating area in the back for food and the bar is in the front. You can get happy hour drinks at a table as long as you order food. The ambience is cozy and warm, with a little fireplace in the back and a small communal table too. Bread was pretty good and they had this dip which was part hummus I think! 1. Brussel sprouts: The bits of bacon are awesome. It’s one of the softer brussel sprouts I had, but excellent flavor. 2. Pumpkin gnocchi: SOOO good. Highly recommend this dish. It’s as good as it sounds. 3. Pot o’ mussels: These were excellent. The mussels were large, and you get a choice of 4 different sauces. I opted for the traditional wine and garlic, which was a bit lighter and really good. On Monday nights, it also came with fries. 4. Fried pickles: Really good because they were lightly breaded. I wished they were fried slightly more so they’re not as floppy. 5. Bread pudding: Not something I would have ordered on my own, but the server recommended it, so I tried it. It was really delicious! The only thing is that the peanut brittle is a challenge to eat, and the ice cream tasted quite frozen with ice crystals. The bread pudding itself was divine. Along with 5 glasses of wine and a coffee, our meal came out to $ 32 a person including tax and tip. Really great deal.

You guys, this place is great! It’s got such a cool/trendy vibe, the service is excellent, and the food and options are amazing. We came on Halloween night for pre party dinner, and it was pretty slow, my guess is most people don’t go to dinner on Halloween ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyways, they have a HUGE bar area, and lots of small cute tables in the back where there are TVs. The food was amazing… the options are perfect, great for people wanting something healthy, there are vegetarian options and then normal people options. My friends and I all ordered small plates as an entrée and it was the perfect size. The tuna tacos came with these two towering tacos with sprouts and homemade wasabi dressing. My pumpkin gnocchi was bomb. Super fresh, not too heavy, and came in this light creamy sauce. One got the Mac and cheese(entrée) and it was a very big portion, but not super cheesy, still nice and light! Overall, excellent option for a group of friends for dinner. And the Molly’s Gimlet(which of course I ordered, because«Molly»), was very good, nice and smooth and not too sweet. Kind of like me.
