Worst experience with a dry cleaner — ever.
Very simple summary:
1. They are insanely, unreasonably expensive. $ 5 for a shirt, and $ 15 for pants. Seriously?
2. They said they could have my four items back within 24 hrs (the only reason I was willing to pay the prices), and they failed. Shirts came back, pants did not. They made no effort to get them to me, they just said come back tomorrow. Seriously?
These guys are a joke.

I have every confidence in World Class Cleaners — except for Tanya.
I’ve been having my laundry and dry cleaning done there for years. But in October, something bizarre happened. The person doing my laundry arbitrarily pulled items out of my bag and had them dry cleaned: workout tees, tube tops, washable slacks — and I was charged $ 40! I brought the receipt in to Francesca, and she processed a credit.
Then, several weeks later, an additional $ 60 charge appeared on my credit card statement. I never received an invoice for $ 60. So I called and explained the situation to Tanya. She tells me it was for dry cleaning, and described the items that had been mistakenly dry-​cleaned for $ 40. I told her that this was a mistake. She insists it is not. In fact she said (twice), «Ma’am, why are you calling us about this two months after the work was done?» I explained (twice) that the $ 60 charge had just shown up on my credit card statement.
Tanya continued to insist that I had items dry cleaned that, in fact, I never requested to have dry cleaned. (As I say, I believe this is a double charge, but she doesn’t seem to understand that.) She finally told me she couldn’t talk to me any more, but would have Francesca call me. Francesca never did, so I followed up, and spoke with Francesca. She tells me Tanya never gave her a message to call me.
Tanya is not only the worst communicator I have ever encountered, but by far the worst customer representative I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

A great business is great in the face of a problem. These guys truly lack effort in the face of a problem. Bad customer service
Tell me how I should feel:
Dropped off 3 shirts on Sept 21 — received 3 back on October 5 except only 2 were mine.
October 6 I return with the other shirt expecting them to have the missing one.
Here now, November 5 and they have not called or made an effort to refund the cleaning cost for the shirt or update me on what efforts they’ve made to recover my missing shirt. After 3 weeks and repeated visits (because nobody was calling me), I met the owner, Angelo, who assured me he would get on it and call me within a day or two.
Not even the owner…
Optimism that a mistake would be corrected has turned to anger. I’ve described my shirt, a custom tailored Tom James, to them on every visit (because they have not reached out to me), I’ve left my phone number with Angelo and staff on every occasion (because I stupidly believe they will reach out to me) and worst of all, my business is 100 feet away around the corner. I’m out the cleaning cost on a shirt, I’m out a one-​of-​a-​kind shirt, and I’m out of anything good to say about this business neighbor.

I have been a customer for years and have gone out of my way and paid premium to use their services. Now I’m angered and saddened by the lack of service and professionalism that I have come across.
The problems are too many to list but one certainty is that every item I have entrusted them in the past year has caused some sort of headache. On top of that when I finally was so fed up with the bad delivery system that I went to the store I was told that they had forgotten to charge me for 4 months of laundry and they decided to charge me $ 500+ in one transaction.
On top of that I gave them some pants for a simple alteration they insisted that it had to be dry cleaned as well. After waiting one week or more I was returned the pants with no alteration made. I knew this would be impossible to explain on the phone so I went to the store and was faced with having to fight to explain that I was charged 100 $ for absolutely no change. Then I was told the change I requested wasn’t possible then the manager finally understood. 3 days later I got the pants with the most awful quality of work. Crooked stitches, blue tread on black pants black tread on beige pants.
It’s tragic that a business with an established brand image and quality can come to such a place

Pros:
o The counter service people are professional and polite
o They speak very good English
Cons:
o Sticker shock! 2x or 3x or more other cleaners: I made the mistake of not asking about prices (I assumed it was similar to all other cleaners), and then got a $ 240 cleaning bill and saw they charged $ 5 per laundered shirt ($ 2 is the normal price), and $ 80 to dry clean and press a pair of pants! There is nothing in their offering that is worth paying double or triple the price.
o Had an urgent «need to deliver on time, no exceptions» order, and was assured by the counter guy that yes, it would be no problem meet that deadline, after repeated confirmations to make sure there was no misunderstanding. They did not make the deadline. This had serious implications, and when we complained to another rep about their failure and its implications, that rep said «well, that other guy should never have promised that.» Really? Really?
o When I asked them to sew on a new collar button, they put in on a half inch off, so that my button down collar looks mangled on one side — not usable.
So I’ve seen no evidence they are worth what they charge. They make the same number of annoying errors and sloppy service that most cleaners do, but with the added insult of charging you 2 or 3 times what anyone else does.

Seriously, the guy (forgot his name /​wears a blazer) who takes your order should be fired!!! I took 3 new suits to get altered over 1 week ago ⁴⁄₁₀ with expected pickup on ⁴⁄₁₃. I went to to pick up the suits on ⁴⁄₁₄ and one of them wasn’t ready because the pins to measure the arm lengths had fallen off and needed to be remeasured. THE GUY WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL ME THE DAY BEFORE TO LET ME KNOW! He said to pickup the following day… so I went again to pick up everything and once again THE GUY WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW IT WASN’T READY AGAIN! So much time freaking wasted.
To add insult to the injury, he verbally quoted me $ 300. He said it could be a little more or less. The total was $ 525!!! How do you quote around $ 300 and get to $ 525!!!
The work is good… the service is abismal. And that guy with the blazer just needs to get fired. If not, I will never return to that place.

As you leave World Class Cleaners the sign on the wall says «Review us on Unilocal!». So I am.
Per their alterations they seem to have a habit of quoting you one price, then when the work is done the price has gone up. No phone calls, no warning. I find this unprofessional, and as nice as they may be it’s basically holding your garment for ransom until you pay the price.
We tried WC when it opened and they were priced competitively. First we had them launder some men’s dress shirts and all went well. I then gave them my colorful cashmere sweaters and I believe the color came back a bit faded. I reasoned that that can happen with strong dye lots like orange or green (Note: I have since washed them at home in cold water which is actually better for the soft yarn and my skin)
Eventually, as the neighborhood rents increased, so did their prices, so we used another cleaner on University and 11^th (happy w/​Harmony Cleaners). But we still used WC for some alterations, and this is where we had problems. My husband needed a snap replaced on his down parka. When he brought it in one price was quoted, but when he went to pick up the coat the price had changed and was substantially higher. Management never called us to inform us that the work would be a bit higher than the initial quote. But they did the work, they had his coat, so what was he to do? He paid them what they asked and we moved on.
Next I had them replace a broken zipper on my parka (a friend had told me to go to another French Cleaners on 4^th Ave but I was lazy and decided to just go down the street to WC). It was not a great one, cheaper metal than the original and tricky to get zipped. One and a half winters later the piece at the bottom broke. I brought it back to WC and the man at the desk said he’d fix it at no charge since it should have lasted longer. It was considered a ‘no charge’ and he said he didn’t need to give me a slip. I was pleased and left. When I went to pick it up another man told me he had no record of it, then found it in the system and said it wasn’t ready until that Friday.
I went back Friday and yet another man (how many employees can they fit behind that curtain?) brought me the coat. It turned out that they couldn’t fix the zipper. They had to replace it, and they had to charge me. On one hand I understand the charge, but on the other someone should have called to ask if this was OK. Plus their initial replacement was faulty and broke. Not my fault that they had to replace the whole thing. Also, maybe I wouldn’t have wanted to spend the money on an old coat and would have refused the alteration. Bottom line is all it would take is one phone call. Instead, WC took it upon themselves to replace the zipper and assume it would be okay to turn a ‘no charge’ into a charge. I was pretty upset and told the manager. While he apologized and agreed he should have called he did not reduce the price of the new zipper let alone honor the initial quote. Another item of clothing held for ransom.
So we’ll be moving on. Too many other decent cleaners in the area to try. As the saying goes: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me…

They actually do a good job of cleaning and I come here when I have something that is expensive or important to me or something that is very soiled. the tailoring is also good. But the service — just horrific, though it depends who you get. Some of the folks (like Francesca) who work there are wonderful and others lie and screw everything up, it is unbelievable. I would give this place 5 stars and use them more frequently if dealing with some of them wasn’t such a miserable experience.

In a past life, I’d have given World Class five stars. They were expensive as hell, but I took every good garment I had there because they knew me, they knew my clothes and everything came back looking and smelling great. I even continued taking my best things there after I moved uptown because I was sure I’d found the best. I was so horribly wrong.
About a year and a half ago, I had them clean a Marc Jacobs parka with a delicious angora rabbit fur-​lined hood. I recall asking how they dry cleaned something with fur lining and they told me they typically removed the fur and stitched it back in after cleaning.
So I took my coat home, unwrapped it, and as I hung it up, the fur pelts began to split apart in my hands. I took it right back, showed them the fur was destroyed and they said they’d «take care of it.»
Six weeks or so later, after bothering them to hurry up and fix it (winter was coming), I went back and discovered they’d only stitched the splits. The hood was now too small to fit my head and the dried pelt split more the moment I inspected it. They agreed the fur was destroyed, and said they’d put a new pelt in.
Some many weeks later, I went to pick it up again. This time, they’d replaced it with cheap shearling — which I’m allergic to – so I again said they needed to replace it with actual rabbit fur, which, btw, is not even expensive. This time, they refused to replace it. Why? Because they knew I’d bought the coat on sale.
I still can’t believe this is true, but yea, that’s what they said.
Unwearable coat in hand, I left furious and stayed that way until they emailed me and apologetically and offered to pick up my coat and fix it. Again, some many weeks later, I got my coat back, and upon inspection thought it seems just a little too plush. By this time, winter had passed so I hung it up and ignored it… until now.
Today discovered that the «fur» they used is in fact fake. I also discovered that World Class Cleaners is a fake too. It’s a crappy cleaner with fancy chandeliers and crown molding that charges too much and wrecks clothes. It’s a shame, because I really thought they were the oasis in the dry cleaning wasteland that is the West Village. That said if you gotta choose between the lesser of the evils, I suggest you choose anyone else over them.

Excellent service, good solid cleaners (both laundry and dry cleaning) and they own any mistakes that are made.

Very overpriced, but they seemed to do a decent job until now. Had a brand new bright white knit sweater set dry cleaned, and it came back dirty gray. Won’t be using them again.

Absolutely outstanding! Took my suit to their office in Long Island City and they cleaned it same day even though it was after last call.

I’ve been using World Class Cleaners for years and they’ve always stayed true to their name. The service here is outstanding. Everyone who works here is friendly, professional and always willing to go the extra mile to exceed their customers’ expectations.
I once had a button missing on a shirt and needed it replaced. Instead of replacing it with any old button, they went down to the garment center to find THE exact button and replaced it for me. That’s world class service :)
Like they say, you get what you pay for. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than other cleaners, but there’s a reason for it. I take all my good clothing here and trust them with my most precious items. If you look around the shop, everyone else does too. The tailors are always working on something made by Louis, Prada, Oscar, Stella, etc The two tailors who work here are old-​school dress makers and have been working there forever. They take such good care of the clothes, you can tell they really understand quality and craftmanship. You can’t find these kind of tailors anymore.
The free pick up and delivery is also a plus!

I can’t believe the positive reviews on here. I guess because they speak English and it seenms convenient, and fancy storefront… all of the reasons I got suckered itno going there. But do not be fooled like I was. I am shocked by how bad this cleaners is. I have lived in the city and downtown for 20 years and have never experienced such horrible quality and service. Forget the price, I thought bc I pay more I will get better service but it is the opposite. They started by shrinking my husbands linen shirt. Then I thought ok fine they mass launder so maybe heat was too high accidents happen (even though they did not refund fee for that). Then they ruined two dresses (one irreplaceable vintage bill blass) and sheets (which they claim already had an ink stain). The manager took two days to call us back, and basically blamed their mistakes on our maid who we have had for 10 years with no problems!!! Their only redress is to reimburse for the overpriced cleaning and no accountability for ruining the items! Completely agree with all of the negative posts her and don’t believe for a second the positive ones. The only thing I can hope to do is to save someone else the agony. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! And by the way they don’t care if you have been a greatcustomer spending 300 per month with them, because you are just a commodity and will be replaced by another unsuspecting customer.

WCC is expensive for a reason. They are the best.
Shoot them an email and they will pick everything up from your house.
Send them clothing that matters. Stuff that you want to keep forever and they will keep it looking new — mend things, tighten buttons really care for the clothing. Of course they charge more for this painstaking attention to detail.
I trust them with sweaters from my mom and grandma. Things that are priceless to me and can not be replaced.

just tried this place on broadway in Astoria… i hear they have another spot in Manhattan…
excellent.excellent…service…small hole in the wall shop… but cute.
im finicky with my dress shirts… and they passed the test with flying colors…
not the cheapest place… definetly not the most expensive. but hey.you get what you pay for…

I’ve only used this place once it was a good cleaners however it was far to expensive hence why I only used it once… take your really nice designer pieces and take everything else somewhere cheaper
