Let me share what a unique horrific experience my encounters with Dr. Simon Young were.
In 2011 someone suggested him to me to correct a previous bunionectomy I had. I first saw him in the summer and he sent me for an MRI. He seemed knowledgeable. Over the next months he would call me into his office, telling me I needed to schedule an appointment, but then once I was there just ask me some minor question. I realized later he was doing this just so he could bill my insurance for a visit, when it involved tiny matters which could be asked on the phone .
I might add also that his office is extremely unkept, untidy and of disgusting hygiene. His staff are rude and unprofessional. Perhaps he hired some mentally defective relatives to be his slaves, as I can’t imagine anyone of any professional competence putting up with the conditions in his office, let alone his surly demeanor.
I thought by the time of the procedure all the minor details had been ironed out due to his excessive and pointless scheduling of appointments for me.
I arrive at the hospital at 5am as scheduled. It was near the Christmas holidays because that’s when I would have a break to recover. He barks at me from the foot of the bed, not bothering to come close to speak to me. He tells me that I need someone to come pick me up.
I told him that now at 5 or 6am in New York I didn’t have anybody that I could call at a moment’s notice to pick me up from the hospital. When I had my previous bunionectomy I was free to take a cab and leave on my own, though that was performed at a clinic not a hospital.
All these months of preparation and no one in his office or the doctor himself could have told me this?
Dr. Young grimaced and said he could do it under local not general anesthesia. The nurses and other staff looked astonished, like this was some primitive, on-​the-​battle-​of-​war kind of procedure. He tied a tourniquet around my calf and proceeded to slice me open.
Let me tell you the most excruciating pain of my life. I told the staff my pain scale number and yet it wasn’t addressed. It felt a burning, like I was going to die. Being awake feeling everything as he opened me and shaved off part of the bone. It was HELL.
Afterwards he was about to waltz off when I asked him through my agony, should I see you again? He’s like, sure come in in about a week.
I thought this man is a barbaric monster. I never heard from him again. I did not return and removed the stitches myself after a week or two. I would NEVER have anything to do with him again. THE WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL DOCTOR I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. Please spare yourself the agony, frustration, exploitation and sheer bafflement that I underwent by the cruelty and stupidity of this loathsome man. He is fat, slovenly and uncaring. This man should be banned from practicing medicine as far as I’m concerned. Beyond being a horrible human being, he is a disgrace to the medical profession.

I was referred to Dr. Simon by another podiatrist because I need extensive work on my feet and needed to see a specialist asap. I scheduled an appt with a sweet woman, (too bad I didnt get her name) I needed to cancel a week later due to this crazy NY weather (snow) and I myself was feeling under the weather, anyhow I called, and Dr. Simon answers the phone. I say Hi, My name is… and I have an appt with you today, but need to cancel due to the weather, he quickly responds. «Yeah… WHATEVER». I said what? He said «WHATEVER». I said you know what??? Nevermind! and I hang up. I’m so glad that Im not using this very grumpy unprofessional man to take care of my feet and operate. At this point it doesnt even matter if he is any good, I rather use my extremely good insurance where I am respected and not dismissed. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE?
