I’ve been coming to this Zaro’s since last July when my company moved into the building. Needless to say, convenience is a huge plus, but not the sole reason I keep coming back. Breakfast: I’ve tried a few things from their egg sandwiches, to their bagels, to pastries to coffees and teas. The egg sandwiches are good, a little overcooked sometimes but if you tell her to not overcook she’ll take note and get you your egg the way you want. Granted, you should not have to ask but a lot of people do like their eggs well cooked. Anyhow, with the purchase of an egg sandwich comes a free small coffee or tea. On occasion if you upgrade to Large I think they charge you for a small instead. So for two eggs on roll, bagel, multi grain toast, or multi grain roll AND a small coffee(drum roll please!!) $ 2.72. Now, that’s a pretty hard price to beat. With Cheese, $ 3.27, and with meat $ 4.36!!! I mean seriously. Not bad at all. I’ve also had their onion pocket, an assortment of bagels, and their donuts, all of which were delicious. My bosses often buy cookies for the office from downstairs and they are quite good. They get two stars for breakfast in my book. Lunch: My coworker actually ventured on to try their lunch food before I did and said they were pretty decent and fresh. Once I tried it for myself, I had to agree. I’ve had the tomato, basil and mozzarella on Italian bread sandwich. My coworker who is Italian, loves it and says it nice to actually tastes real Italian bread. I’ve tried their soups, Chili, and the Lentil. Both were tasty. I have not had their salads, yet. But I will be trying it next. From what I’ve seen and my coworker tells me, they are little on the small side for the price but hey, then again, its the city. So another star for lunch. Staff: I’ve never had a problem with the staff. I have seen a few different faces come through there, though. But the couple people I do recognize and remember are pleasant. In the almost year I have been going there, I’ve had my order screwed up once, maybe twice. Star for the staff. Cons: I did find one thing that was a tiny bit inconvenient. If you want an afternoon pastry, bagel or roll, you prob won’t find much after 3 p.m. They pack up around 2:30 so the most you’ll get is a beverage and anything they have out that hasn’t been put away. So if I need a donut, or a sweet, or even a bagel with some cream cheese, I’d have to go elsewhere. And lastly, I guess their lack of assorted beverages. Don’t get me wrong, they cover the basics, flavored coffees, teas, ice and hot but you know funky flavored concoctions are good too. I mean there are three Starbucks in a two block radius, give’em a run for their money! Other than those two gripes, I’d have to say this place is pretty solid. For an option close to work and with decent prices, Zaro’s is it.

I frequent Zaro’s for lunch because of the convenience. My rating is based on eating here at least ten times. The food is decent. I never had a bad experience but it was never ‘wow this is delicious’ experience. The workers are always very friendly expect the manager. She can be very RUDE and this has happened four or five times. After I finish my lunch, I ask for the key to the bathroom. She very rudely tells me the bathroom is for customers only! Last time I said to her, ‘you would think you would recognize me know, especially since you rang my lunch up!’ The bathroom is small and they can do a better job cleaning it. I enjoy the wraps, usually chicken on whole wheat. They have a number of items you can add to the wraps for no addition charge. Their Israeli salad was delish. I had the falafel wrap and it wasn’t very good. They also have a nice salad bar with many options. I prefer a wrap but don’t mind their grilled chicken salad. Zaro’s is known for their bakery. I have never ordered any of their baked goods but it looks nice. A couple of people have said they make a good black and white cookie, so I may have to try one next time. If you’re in a rush they have a choice of some pre made sandwiches which were ok. Zaro’s is average. It isn’t my favorite place but good enough to enjoy a nice lunch once in a while.

I stop by this place all the time, friendly people… lunch is a bit pricy if you compared with other new places in the area.

It’s really a shame that Zaro’s doesn’t have higher ratings. Kosher bakeries are hard to find as is, and it would be unfortunate to see them lose more business due to a few lousy reviews. The company I’m interning at ordered Zaro’s red velvet cake in celebration of someone’s birthday and I thought it was really delicious! The cake itself was nice and moist, exactly the way cake should be. However, I thought the cream cheese frosting was what really made the cake shine. Most cream cheese frostings are overpoweringly sweet. Either that, or they taste super artificial. Zaro’s cream cheese frosting fell into neither of these categories. It actually tasted like cream cheese, and it was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. It truly was the icing on the cake. ;)

this Zaro’s location is right next to my workplace. I thought it would have been great to have a coffee place so close by, but after trying to go there quite a few times now, i’ve decided never to set foot there again. The RUDEST employees I have ever met(even for New York standards) Not only they treat customers badly, they also have the worst attitude and ignore«special» requests because they can’t be bothered(warm coffee instead of boiling hot and they give you boiling hot). Today the guy making coffee also answered back at me but when I asked him what was wrong, he just mumbled to himself(and unfortunately it isn’t the first time this happens) They aways look like they have better to do and are just nasty. no way to start anyone’s morning! I once was there when the manager was there too and all the employees were on their best behavior — the cashier lady(which is one of the rudest ones there) was the nicest person on earth!!! I now prefer to just walk further to grab my coffee and have a nice service. these people deserve no business at all! I can’t speak for other locations, but the one on 37th street(between broadway and 7th ave) has the worst staff i’ve ever experienced.

They did a fabulous job with my sister’s birthday cake! Red velvet heaven! We were kind of skeptical but they surprised us! They had the cake ready on time. All of her friends loved it! We are so thankful!

My company orders breakfast from Zaros and I can’t lie. Those bagels are amazing! They have great variety, and their pastries are top notch. I m not sure what my favorite one is called but is basically like apple pie but looks like a croissant outside. you have to try it! However, when I walked in a couple of times– their cashiers are unbelievably rude. I m talking she almost threw my red velvet cupcake at me… I get it, your food is good… But the service is not the least important thing. Bring it up a bit and you lol have that awesome line of customers! ;)

Good for what it was. I had a latte and an egg and bacon croissant. No complaints, staff was super friendly and helpful. They even offer soy and almond milk for coffee. Croissant was buttery and flaky… yum!

The bagels are OK if you get the bagel you actually asked for. They can’t seem to handle the most simplistic order without somehow messing it up.

This place was never that good. But, it’s going down hill fast. If you want a bagel and coffee? Ok. But don’t go for lunch. There so many places that are better. **Update** Place still stinks! Stay away! Unless you just want coffee and aren’t too fussy! How do I take back my one star?

Best Red Velvet & Carrot Cake ever! Well obviously, you have to order the WHOLE cake and not a slice which according to the reviews, were dried up. I also would not do the cupcakes, which I’ve tried and were nowhere near the taste of the cakes. While I’ve had a few communication issues here and there with management, I haven’t had anything occur bad enough to make me stop getting cakes from there. Of course the cakes are not prepared on the 37th street premises so I guess the fact that I love them in languages does not really help them out. However, every cake I’ve ever ordered from there has been delicious. Please note: When you buy a cake, if you aren’t going to have it within the hour, put it back in the fridge and take it out ONEHOUR prior to serving. The icing then taste like a delicious ice cream or something. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s absolutely divine(long sigh here). If you get there early enough and catch an Onion Bialy, and get it toasted with butter, you are in a heavenly state for about an hour or so. I also enjoy their French Toast Bagel, if they have it, because it’s either sold out or it’s too labor intensive to make on a daily basis. The FTB accompanied by their whipped cream cheese is to die for. Now, no offense to all of the other reviewers on here, but I’ve been coming for about a year or two now and I would NEVER, EVER even THINK about getting food from there. The other side that I see peripherally has never tempted me to order food. I say, go with your gut on that one, and if your gut told you to get food from there… I’m sure this is not your only bad review.

I’ve been here a few times for an over priced breakfast before work because of the convenience. My orders have been messed up a few times with missing ingredients. The two eggs tend to never really seem like two eggs, so I order 3 and even then half the time Ill sit down to eat and I can tell the extra egg I paid for isnt there. Aside from bland food, this goes for the premade sandwiches as well, the only things Id recommend are their baked goods and a bagel with cream cheese if youre in rush. The 1 star is for the friendly staff and the other for the jelly donut and butter loaf.

The coffee was good but the marble cookie was hard. I would think with this place being busy the cookie would of been soft and chewy. Go some place else for a small bite.

Not what it used to be years ago but I guess things change. This location is a bit smaller than some but the taste was okay. My favorite are the black and white cookies. Take a few home so you can have them with a tall glass of cold milk. Also take home a loaf of their freshly made bread.

Came here midst carbohydrates binge, a side effect of a delayed Amtrak back to Boston. The young lady who«helped» me was one of the rudest encounters I’ve ever had… even for NYC!

Vanilla cupcake was good. Falafel pita was disappointing — falafel was dry and little flavor — same for tahini and hummus. Lentil soup was salty. Staff were pleasant price decent but unfortunately food fell flat.

Cute bakery that I’ve been to twice now. There’s always a beautiful spread of baked goods that all look heavenly. I recently got the chocolate fudge turkey. It was delicious and so cute! It was really sweet(maybe overload on sweetness) but I indulged in the entire thing. It was a mini turkey with a fudge cake center and sweet icing to represent the face, etc. Will definitely be back next time I’m in New York to try the cheesecakes and cookies!

I recently placed an order for a breakfast platter for 9 people at the 37th Street location. They took the order, my credit card information and asked me I was able to pick up the order. The location opens at 6am and I told them I would be there between 6:15am and 6:30am to pick up the order. The order was for a meeting at 6:45am. A minute later, I received a call from the store manager telling me that it was too early to pick up the order. I told her I didn’t understand since the store opened at 6am. She then proceeded to tell me she didn’t want to «overwork» her employees to get my order done in time and told me I was being«ridiculous» to think I could pick up my order so early. The manager then yelled at me for another minute or two about what a «terrible customer» I am. Her attitude was completely rude and disrespectful. A customer should never be treated like that. I often order from Zaro’s for meeting snacks but no longer will because of the unforgivable service I have received.

I only came here cause my boyfriend and I were walking(it was freezing out) and we got a little hungry ish? We saw this place and there were a lot of breads and cakes and there weren’t as much people in here compared to the other places we passed by. So we thought, «why not?» since we could deff get a seat here and relax a bit. We didn’t want to get any sandwiches or anything cause we were planned on getting something to eat later. But the food here looked quite good atm. But we just decided to get two cakes and earl gray(for me) and a hot chocolate(for him/bf) The two cakes we got were the chocolate mousse cake and the red velvet cake. Once we got everything we went upstairs to chill and enjoy. We got a table near the window and dug into our first cake. It was the the red velvet and omg!!! guess what guys??? It was not good… at all. At first I was like… was the cake baked fresh? IT wasn’t moist either. The icing? FORGETABOUTIT!!! no seriously! The icing was like… uh. tacky? does that even make sense? Total disappointment. Next…the chocolate mousse! and let me tell you. That was the worst chocolate mousse I ever had. I made better chocolate mousse !!(seriously it is way better) the mousse well in all honesty if I didn’t order it .I wouldn’t had known it was chocolate mousse. The texture wasn’t moussey(lol) the cake once again wasn’t moist — it was kinda of tasteless. I was sad with my cakes :( But I’ll come again to try the sandwich but idk about the cakes.
