Cute little place the servers are friendly but the kitchen is way slow. Not a good place if you only have 45 minutes for lunch. I can’t even tell you what the food quality was poor haven’t even eaten my lunch yet it’s still in the container, I paid my bill even before my lunch arrived not good for being the second person seated.

Wow! Worst restaurant service ever! We had to walk out. The waitress was either really stupid, or high, or maybe both. After 45 mins our drinks had not arrived. She claimed that the bar was really busy and the drinks would be right out. We told her that we’d like to order dinner. She looked utterly confused by our request, kept asking us to repeat ourselves, and didn’t write any of it down. We should have ran out then. 10 minutes later she came back and asked for our order again because she needed to write it down. After another five minutes we decided that if we had any hope of eating before the show, we had to get the hell out of there. On our way out she gave us an attitude and told us that she was placing the order now. Seriously? WTF??? Anyway, now we’re at Kilkenny’s

Good drinks, nice atmosphere, and great and engaging staff! Also their chocolate pie dessert is hella delicious. The only issue is that both times I’ve been there they began to close up earlier than the hours advertised on their door and on their website. The first time I went, the worker closed the kitchen about 3 hours early and kept turning people and couples who came in away.

The big guy behind the bar is the reason we will not come back here. He is completely rude. Apparently has no idea how to treat customers. And he lives on tips? Lose the attitude, buddy.

Update! What is with that bartender? The big guy… he is so rude. Zero customer service skills. Rolls his eyes because I asked about happy hour? Dear Management: Keep him around, and this place will be closed in no time. The place has the potential to be a warm, inviting neighborhood hangout. But with people like him behind the bar, you will chase your customers away. Unbelievable. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years, and you should get rid of him. STAT.

Tuna tartar is delicious. Fresh avocado, great seasoning, and generous portion. Delicious! Outside patio is great, bar has excellent choices, and ambiance is nice. The food was good: the black bean soup(with feta at bottom) was so good, my kid ordered a second serving, I enjoyed the Cuban sandwich. Menu has options for all. The best part of the meal was Fernando who answered each and every of our demanding and annoying requests(we were w 2 kids and grandparents visiting from overseas) with a smile. He really made the meal great one. Thank you, Fernando!

I really liked the place. The food was Delicious! They did not have angry orchards but the bartender gave something else instead, I honestly forgot the name name but it was pretty good!

Really nice atmosphere, great drinks, only mediocre food. If they brought the latter up a free notches, this would be my fav place to frequent

I’ve been here a few times and there’s really nothing special about this place beyond the décor. The food is pedestrian and forgettable and the service is a bit lousy. Came here tonight with a a group of 4 and I ordered off the restaurant week menu which should have included an appetizer an entrée and a dessert for a fixed price. I got the chicken and shrimp in garlic sauce which was definitely nothing spectacular at all. I got my appetizer and a dessert to go because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to finish everything in one sitting, so please tell me why when I got home I opened my package to find not one but two desserts and no appetizer? our server had been acting incompetent all night but I thought that at least she would get this right.

Months ago I would of given this place 5 stars– but since the new management and bartenders came in the drinks are watered down and the staff is cold and kind of rude particularly the big guy behind the bar– where is Sky and Paola… Food is still some of the best in the neighborhood but they close when ever they feel like it and they are barely open on the weekends… They have lost my patronage and I used to be a regular.

27 was a great place to celebrate my birthday dinner with hubby. Inexpensive and convenient parking across the street. Sat indoors, too windy outside. Atmosphere — cozy, however, easy enough to have a conversation without screaming over the music. Waiter — Moise. Delicious apps — Fried chicken dumpling, tuna tar tar, summer salad & finely chopped vegetarian salad. Okay entrees — NY Strip steak cooked medium with whishy sauce that tasted more like smoked BBQ sauce. Hubby finished all of his while I left half. Delicious sides — chips & green string beans. Wonderful Dessert — Tiramisu cake with cinnamon & Chocolate lava cake with scoops of ice cream & whipped cream. Tip — try not to sit next to the door leading to the outside dining area. It has no spring on it so, it constantly slams shut, especially in windy conditions. Hence, 3.5 stars.

This is such a great place! I ordered the shrimp PO boy and a drink. Both items were on point! Love it! They are great! Cool vibe not to loud nor is it packed at 12 in the afternoon. Will come back.

The food is good! The place is amazing with a lot of promise. It’s trendy and full of character. They do have Wine Wednesday which is always a blast and you could have cheap wine. What kills the experience is the bar tender and the service time. Come with time to spend because you might be waiting for a while to get your food and be ready to have the bar tender give you attitude and make side comments. My friends and I recently attended wine Wednesday and got a lot of attitude from the bar tender when asking for other drinks and extra cups. Overall, this is a great hangout and fun place to meet up with people. If it wasn’t for the attitude and service time I would give this place 5 stars

This is a very cool bar/restaurant in Newark, which has quickly become our go-to happy hour location. I have been here 4 times now and it has really grown on me. The bar is a little tight, but when it’s nice outside they open up the back which basically doubles the size of the place. I don’t usually order much food as I am here for the drinks, but I have ordered the regular and sweet potato fries, and they are always delicious. I’ve also tried the tuna tartar which tasted fresh and delicious. My favorite aspect of this place is the service as all of the employees are really friendly and personable. If you’re in Newark and want a drink, check this place out.

As I was leaving this lovely place the bartender told me to make sure I write a review on Unilocal.Being the sport that I am, I am here to give you my insightful review. The place is nice and the 2 stars are just for its patio alone. It really makes you want to disbelieve all the other reviews about the service and sip cocktails to the late evening. However, you cannot get cocktails to continue to enjoy the atmosphere. Don’t bother asking your server for a second drink, or trying to wave them down or they will yell at you because they have 4 tables and you didn’t let them know your glasses were empty.(Even though you said«excuse me could we get some more drinks») If the food was better than ok I would live with the horrible service to enjoy the patio. Yet, the services is just soooooooooo bad I honestly had a hard time tipping 5%. The service was really that bad. Really Who only tips 5%? people in Florida at least tip 10% I know it sounds cheap, but it was so bad and to be yelled at by the server for asking for another drink… I can only imagine this is why the bartender told me to write a review.

Wow! I have never been so disappointed in the overall service of a restaurant. It’s rather unfortunate because the place had great character and the ambience was popping. I attended a open air concert at JPAC with a group of friends. After the concert, we went in search of something to eat. I’m to familiar with NJ’s dining scene and so I went with the recommendation of a friend, it ended up being a complete disaster. I won’t belabor you wit points that have already been mentioned in other reviews but truly they’ve got to do better. In brief, the food and service will be the demise of this restaurant unless they make some serious changes. I will never be back!

This place is small, but really nice for dinner with a friend, or even a date. I’ve taken my mom here for dinner, and also lots of friends also. Most of the food is really good, and affordable. I like the tuna tar tar app. I would skip the ground chicken lettuce wrap, however. I also really like the mushroom risotto. Drinks! They have a great season beer tap and offer flights of 48oz beers for I think about $ 8 – and you can pick from everything on tap. They usually have some stouts and porters along with lagers and IPAs as well. I don’t really go for cocktails, but the sangria pitchers are cheap as hell. They don’t have actual fruit in them(I don’t care about that in this case) but it’s also fairly strong! Outdoor seating and sometimes music. I’ve been here when they had live music at the back/front which makes it fun. Outside they have an small enclosed patio that shady, but also has cute string lights up.

The ambiance is really nice. Service was miserable. First off the server was sick and coughing all over the place which was a real turn off. Ordered wings, a side of fries, and a few drinks. Wings took forever, fries never showed. The wings were tiny and reminded me of Chinese food wings. We ordered a second plate of wings then reminded the server about the fries. The second plate of tiny wings again took forever and once again the fries did not show. At this point i was disgusted with the idea that the wings had been coughed all over so we did not eat the wings asked for a check and to remove one plate of wings. We were told there was no manager that could do that. So we waited yet again for the check. After watching the server go back and forth at least six times without bringing us our check we got up to leave out of frustration at which point the server whom again seemingly had forgotten about us showed up and began demanding we pay at which point i told her to bring the check again which she did. We were not comped for our miserable experience. Its a shame because the place in very nice looking.

Food: Decent Service: Underwhelming Ambience: Very Good I use to come to this place fairly frequently a few years back but had not been here for a a while so decided to stop by for lunch because they have a very nice outdoor space to sit in and it was a beautiful day. As soon as you walk in you do not think this place will be in the middle of Newark. It feels like a trendy eatery in the city. I got there and was seated immediately and to my surprise it was a table outside. As soon as we sat down they brought our water took our drink order, dropped the bread off and then left. The wait staff asked us multiple times for the order but we were so deep in conversation that we had not seen the menu. Everyone was so polite about the delay and made us feel welcome. Once we placed our orders we waited for about 45 minutes for the food to come. I ordered the shrimp po boy and once it finally got taste it. I was disappointed the shrimp was over breaded. Unfortunately the food was not the only disappointment. The service was polite but painfully slow everything took so so long maybe it was us and we gave them the wrong impression. If we had not caused the initial delay I would have given them 2 stars but giving them the benefit of a doubt. Overall this a unique place given the location but if there food was not the best and the service was slow.

This place is pretty nice. It has outdoor seating in the back and the restaurant area is not big but quaint. The bar area is decent. I sat at the bar and my bartender was a lively lovely lady named Paola. She was very attentive and even chit chatted with my husband me whenever she could. That’s always nice, especially if you come alone. We had appetizers which where pretty delicious. We shared the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and the Steamed Chicken dumplings which came with two sauces… one tangy and the other was soy sauce. It looks like a pretty mixed crowed. I came here on a wednesday night which was half priced wine bottle night. Enough said.
