I come here about every 2 to 4 months to purchase chorizo, Portuguese sardines, and Spanish and Portuguese cheese. Although they cater more to the Portuguese, Brazilian, and Hispanic communities, they also have products that you find at stores such as Pathmark, Foodtown, etc… The store is quite roomy and clean and has ample parking space outside. I have been coming here since the mid 90’s and will continue coming for years to come. I highly recommend this grocery store to anyone.

This grocery store has everything, but truly love the liquor section! Found my new fave, Vodka Mariette here and now I keep coming back!

Even though I don’t live in NJ, I will absolutely come back to this supermarket. It’s massive and clean with great prices! They have parking available, but is also within walking distance to Newark Penn Station. Although the store carries everything you need, it does cater to the Portuguese and Brazilian crowd, so you will find a lot of interesting and authentic products and delights mainly from Portugal. I also spotted a number of products imported from Italy and Spain, as well as the standard American products you’d expect at any supermarket. I can’t wait to go back and pick up some of the salted bacalao… there’s a huge section in the back dedicated especially to that! I just hope that my arms are strong enough for the schlep back into Manhattan from the train :-)

I stop by this supermarket after work. I wish I had discovered it sooner. It’s a great market in the area. The produce is fresh and there’s a diverse selection of it. Also, they sell bakery items that you can’t find in Shoprite or Pathmark — breads from Portuguese rolls to Pao Doce. Teixeira’s Bakery and Terra Nossa Bakery goods are sold here. There is a wide selection of international products from Portugal, Brazil, and Central America sold here. I’ve picked up tamales and spinach empanadas in the frozen food cold cases for a quick, work-week-night dinner option. The supermarket is organized and clean. It’s larger than the one on Ferry Street(the Lafayette location has a giant parking lot), and I think the prices are a little more competitive here, too.
