The coffee here is absolutely to die and go to heaven for. I’ve been going to this grocer on and off since I moved into this area of the city about 10 years ago. Part of the reason I went early on, is because they have a grill in the back where they make eggs, pancakes, hash browns, cheesesteaks and all the local wares. It’s a hop skip and a jump from my home, so why walk an extra quarter mile for the same thing from the«chicken shack» as we call them. It’s your typical local community grocery store serving all of your unhealthy produces like chips, soda, candy, and all the high sodium and high sugar processed foods you can get your hands on. They have a small rack where you can grab your almonds and peanuts, but don’t look to shop here and cut the pounds unless you’re a gym fanatic and do two a day workouts. Most items are inexpensive, $ 1.50 or less. You’re not going to get your meat cut here or grab a slab of salmon. The people are relatively kind, but for a place that’s been here for more than a decade, they don’t seem to have built a great rapport with those who frequent the place. There’s a lot of grunt work and the folks seems really tired and worn down as they work feverishly to satisfy the high customer demand in the morning. There’s a big elementary school right across the street and all of the kids come in for a breakfast or lunch sandwich and to get their fuel for the day, SUGAR! But hey it’s a grab and go, and for what it is, it gets the job done.
