This business is permanently closed. It’s a shame. From what the gallery shows, it was a good shop. I hope the stylists found other work. I was lookg for a barbershop, unisex, that could touch up my undercut. The shop I went to the first time, the woman was so afraid to do it.

Eehhhh. Stumbled upon the place in Newark. Looks nice but the substantive talent wasn’t present in the cuts I witnessed/experienced. I’m new to Newark and I will continue to travel back to DC for a cut vs. getting a cut here.

Went in, amazing hospitality right away. Was attended promptly and got one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had, literally. The barber was thorough and took extreme pride in his work. Definitely returning.

I found this place after exploring other barbershops in the surrounding area of Newark. Although this is a little bit more pricey than other business’s, the quality of Center Stage Cuts far surpasses any place I have been to. It’s the only place I have ever been to where I was greeted with an option to have a drink while waiting, and with that said, the hospitality outstanding. The interior decoration of the shop clearly shouts out a contemporary-modern look, which is great. It is a little bit far from the Rutgers Campus which may deter students from going but, it isn’t too far where it is not walk-able. I highly recommend getting your haircut at this store, for the barbers/workers definitely know what they’re doing.

OK so what Barbershop you know offers a(cultural) nightlife filled with Art Exhibits, Film Screenings, Movie Nights, Music Showcases, Crate Digging events, Open Mics Rehearsal Space, Workshops, Retail, etc.(Now i know that’s alot to grasp) but hmmm think on it … yea me neither. Well that is until I stepped foot into Center Stage Cuts(of Course)… I JUSTLOVETHISPLACE!!! You MUST visit this diamond in the rough! they are truly filling a void in Newark when it comes to culturally progressive nightlife, and not to mention they’re CUT Game(just look at the pics). SHARP! This place is awesome. I have to be honest: I love my city, but it’s hard to expect the best of Newark businesses. After getting a cut at Center Stage Cuts, I was reminded that I shouldn’t generalize all businesses/barbershops just because some or most are unprofessional. Before walking in, I called to inquire about business hours. The reception was courteous and accommodating. I was glad that I could hear the person on the other line. In other words, I was proud that the music in the background wasn’t so loud that I couldn’t make out the information being relayed to me. When I got to the spot, I was floored by the colors, the art, the cleanliness, the chairs — the overall aura of the place. If you’re from Newark, you’re going to feel a sense of pride walking into Center Stage Cuts, I promise you. I wasn’t so pleased with the initial interactions with the people in the shop. I think they thought I was a scared white boy, but in reality I only felt awkward because I was in a new environment and I looked a hot mess(heretofore, it had been months since my last haircut). Soon after, the owner, Doug, greeted me with a handshake and introduction and asked that I fill out a new client survey, and then I got my cut by a barber named Rob. I loved the cut. I loved the house music playing in the background. I loved that I could discuss my artistic vision with my barber. I loved the pricing. This place is awesome and deserves notice and business. If you’re ready to see what a great barbershop could be(and you want to see of-color businesses thrive in Newark) go here!!!
