I have worked in Newark for 15 years. This is a great go to spot with late hours. The place looks like a dump but at least there is no plexiglass! The staff is very friendly and very accommodating on your order. I enjoy the tostada bowls and the teriyaki combos(rice with beef/chicken or both). The bowls are always fresh and they have this amazing ginger dressing. The bowls come in their own big square box, think bakery and presents well. The teriyaki always tastes good with moist rice. They make their flour tortilla on the grill. They take a ball of dough and run it through a flattener right onto the grill. I was there on 10÷4÷14 and they no longer offer sushi. I never ate it so I can not comment. If you are looking to eat decently on a budget this is the place. The place should get 3.5 stars but we cant choose that on Unilocal

Bad Chinese food in a taco shell. I like the idea of Chinese food in a hand held form, but this place hasn’t figured it out. The food isn’t worth the price. I am sure no one has dared order raw fish here. There’s nothing much to say other than skip it.

Tex-Mex & Sushi, Whaaaaaat? This is the kind of place you go when you’re hungry and«ballin» on a budget”. In other words, you get a ton of food for an unbeatable price; however the tastiness factor isn’t exactly up to par. Ideal for delivery and late night feasting that won’t empty your pocketbook. –You won’t leave here hungry, but you sure as heck won’t be rushing back with pregnant lady cravings –Fresh Tortillas Grill gets extra points for friendly staff, convenient hours and offering delivery –They’re version of a Quesadilla is piling ingredients between two tortillas, making it into more of a salad; with tortillas on the bottom and top. Absolutely nothing holds the ingredients and the tortillas together. The chicken was cooked & seasoned perfectly — Never heard of a Tex-Mex Sushi place before. Considering the limited dining options in Downtown Newark, I’ll take it –The Restaurant itself is kind of an eyesore. It’s run down and won’t give ya’ any«So Fresh, So Clean» vibes. On the flipside, when the food is so cheap, I’ll sacrifice cleanliness for affordability.

Think Chinese storefront restaurant in Passic The place really needed a good scrubbing. perhaps ordering out would sidestep the pervasive reflection of grime everywhere. As for the food they provide ample portions for a cheap price.

This is a favorite of mine and my co-workers for lunch. We always order takeout, which is usually pretty reliable. The food is sooo good for the price. For 4 bucks you get a huge plate of nachos smothered in guac and beans and cheese. It’s not gourmet, but what do you want for under 5 dollars per person? I usually get the guacamole nachos, but the quesadillas, burritos, taco salad and fajitas are also really good. Never had the Japanese.

Two solid stars. That’s double what a Tex-Mex/Sushi restaurant should get! The main thing is the Mexican, which dominates the menu. The stuff I had was nearly inedible, but you may be able to find something better. The sushi, though falling apart, was actually not bad. And there were plenty of condiments to go around. The teriyaki combo is just mexican food with teriyaki drizzle. I nearly cried the first time I came in – I placed my order, then the owner came out with a beautiful large fish, some delicious-looking greens, and various chinese sides. I said«Ooh, can I order that???» The person at the counter snickers. «No, we don’t sell that!» Waahh. FTG is on the corner of drive by and drug deal, of which there is a view from my apartment. It’s open late, even Sundays, which can be a lifesaver.
