Gateway Plaza Cleaners

Super convenient for those who commute to work using Penn Station. Dry — cleaning is usually on point. However, if you value promptness over convenience this is not the place. Dropped off a few shirts (not more than five) on a Saturday and expected them to be done by Tuesday night. Got home late so I went Wednesday morning and the shirts weren’t ready. Not only was I out of shirts but I was also late for work. This place is not worth the price.

When I first moved to Newark, I probably would have given this place five stars. It was convenient, I had a constant, but not an urgent need for laundering and dry cleaning. So yeah, I loved the lamp because I saw it. Now, not so much.
First, I noticed that my collar stays were going missing. Other places would always save my collar stays. Perhaps this was just because I used the plastic collar stays from Joseph A. Bank. I’ve been through two boxes of collar stays in the last year. Lately, I’ve also notice a lot of lint in my freshly cleaned suits and shirts. It’s not like the shirt has been back from the cleaners and been sitting in my closet for weeks.
I could handle the missing collar stays, but I pay money for my stuff to be cleaned. It’s still convenient, but I don’t feel that this place has value for me anymore.

John is the best! They certainly don’t make them like they used to and when I found Gateway Plaza Cleaners and met John, I realized he was one of a kind. This guy’s got integrity and he knows how to run a business and make people feel like they are in good hands. Yeah sure, it’s only dry cleaning what’s the big deal you might ask, but have you ever had your clothes ruined or lost by a dry cleaners only to find they look the other way and don’t offer you squat for the loss and the frustration?! John is the fairest guy around both in terms of his prices and his service. I’ve been a satisfied client for over 20 years and won’t go to anyone else.
