Light, healthy, fresh-tasting food, with good salads and paninis. Great smoothies too, but quite pricey. Portions are quite small and it’s not super cheap, but it’s hard to find decent fresh food in Newark so it keeps me coming back for more. My favorites include their chicken panini with fresh mozzarella and arugula, chai espresso latte, homemade granola, and turkey wrap with basil spread instead of mustard. Street parking is horrendous in the area, the seating area is very cramped, so it could be hard to find seating sometimes depending on the time of day. It gets VERY busy and hectic at the counter during lunchtime, but the guy working at the counter is funny. Overall, not the greatest spots to grab a sandwich/salad, but definitely one of the best healthy joints in the«great» city of Newark.

Tried this for the first time today and really appreciated the spot… Breakfast wrap was good with the exception of one thing: the salt. I love salt, and I had to remove majority of the eggs from my wrap to try to eat it… And then chug water because it left such an awful taste. It wasn’t just one or two bites, the eggs were altogether way over salted . Wish I could give this place a better review because their menu looks awesome and coffee is really tastey. This place has a lot of potential, and is one of the places I hope prospers in Newark. Please take this as constructive criticism! You can’t claim healthy dishes otherwise.

Harvest Table is my favorite breakfast/lunch spot in Newark. The food is always fresh and delicious. Not only does Harvest Table offer a wide variety of lunch options, it also has a healthy breakfast menu. My favorite lunch dish is the Balsalmico. It’s the perfect lunch size. Their brownies are also killer.

Another health local favorite of mine. It’s a very small place and during lunch it gets packed. I enjoy the fact that I can customize my own salad. Whenever I come here it is pure joy. the dessert yummy

This review is for the vegan cookie. I’m being generous with three stars. Have you ever made homemade play doh and then baked it with cranberries? I have not, but I believe it would probably come out like this cookie. This was the worst vegan cookie I have had in about a decade. Please try a new recipe. PLEASE.

One of the healthiest and tastiest places to eat in Newark. I work a few paces from this spot and it’s a sort find. The brownies are to die for! The smoothies are absolutely refreshing and tasty. I’ve not had anything on the menu that was not delicious. My Co-workers and I are regulars.

Harvest Table is a bit of an oddball establishment in Newark, NJ. Kind of a health-grill, crunchy setting with a couple vegan options they could have a positive thing going… If they fix a few bugs. 1) I like the casual environment, however a serious cleaning is in order 2) The bathroom was *horrendous*. I have literally seen better exterior bathrooms at gas stations. I’d even probably use an outhouse above this, in fact I walked in to wash my hands and walked right out without touching anything. Whilst here, I did indeed order one vegan cookie that I was told was from last night. She asked me if I wanted to come back later in the day for fresh ones, I said I wouldn’t be there and just got it(no discount) anyway. I also got the vegan brownie. Of the two items, the brownie was pretty good, I would say approx a 6/10, the cookie was a major fail however; bland and unappealing. Maybe it would have been better fresh, but I wont be back to test that out. Both were a bit overpriced in my opinion.

This review is based off the smoothie, sweets and service. Decent service. Love their brownies and banana bread. I believe the brownie is vegan, which is a bonus. Only $ 2 for a good size brownies. So the 2 stars are basically for the sweets and service because the smoothie I ordered(green Simon large 6.50 banana, spinach, broccoli, pineapple, ginger and apple juice) was not the business. Taste like a Naked. Missing the ginger, very disappointed but not as disappointed as when I saw him bring out mott’s Apple juice! Like EWK!!! You just concentrated my fresh smoothie experience. I was tempted to say no thanks because I didn’t yet pay so it wouldn’t have been a hassle but I had a craving for the ginger pineapple but yea didn’t pop! Will return for the sweets but I’ll stick to my own smoothies. It’s small in there and kind of dark so if you’re with the gang I suggest grabbing your breakfast/lunch snack or whatever and head over to the park.

Great place to get lunch. Food is excellent and the vanilla chai latte is the best I’ve ever had. Very very friendly. Even when they were busy one of the employees took the time to ask a pregnant woman if she wanted a glass of water. Need I say more. five stars all the way. Oh and the prices are cheap! Coming back for sure.

The chocolate chip cookie was fantastic, the vanilla latte was unfortunately undrinkable, barely tasted of espresso or milk :( I will definitely give them another try though, nice to see healthy food options in this food desert!

I go to Rutgers and live in the neighborhood. When I want something healthy and tasty… this is the go to spot. They have salads, wraps, even little healthy snacks like nuts and more! If I couldn’t cook… this would be it. I wish they delivered though.

Salads, wraps, smoothies … Healthier fare than I usually find in this neighborhood. A cute little place that is easy to miss. The staff seemed a little harried during the lunch rush. Nice jury duty lunch. Try it.

My boyfriend and I headed there for lunch to check it out, since today was the first time I’ve actually seen the place open. So we walk into this a narrow entry way, look at the menu which is behind the counter. While we’re deciding what they have and what we want, I’m talking to my boyfriend about what I may be getting, the guy behind the counter rudely interrupts and says, «if your ordering food you have to order over there» as he points down to the order side of the counter towards the back of the restaurant. I said thanks but we’re just looking at the menu right now. By the way, only one person walked in behind us who knew one of the employees, and it was not busy at all. So we decided what we wanted and start placing our orders(or attempted to at least). We felt rushed and pushed around for no reason. The guy recommended the soup and said it was very good(sage butternut squash, and i’m a fan of butternut squash soup) so we both decide to get a small cup of it. I also ordered a Mediterranean wrap with chicken. After we ordered our food, we were sent back over to the counter we were sent away from(back to the front of the restaurant by the entrance). Now this does not make sense, if you want your customers to order down a line then the cash register should be set up at the end so customers are not walking back and forth in an already narrow space. We ended up repeating everything we ordered to the lady at the cash register, and while my boyfriend was finishing his order of tea and pumpkin bread(that had to be ordered at the front apparently), the lady RUDELY picked up the phone while he was talking to take an order over the phone, and tells US to hold on. This was were we really started to lose our patience. We finally wait for her to get off the phone, and he finished his order and I repeated mine to make sure she input everything properly. We pay, take our soups, his tea, and pumpkin bread, and sit down in the back(to the cleanest table we can find) while I waited for my wrap. The tables were all sticky, the place also had an overall uncleanliness to it. At this point i’m just hoping the food is good enough to compensate for the horrendous customer service. I was wrong. The soup was disgusting. I took one spoon full and threw the rest away. Behind us was a little window to the scullery we didn’t notice when we sat down. The only reason we did notice it was because we heard loud clashes of someone dropping the dirty dishes off back there while we were talking, and trying to eat. The sound was very loud and annoying. I receive my wrap with a salad it came with, which was decent. I would equate it to any wrap you can get at a quick check or subway. Overall place only had 4 – 5 small tables, it was small and felt dirty, the customer service was horrible, and the food was decent. Not worth the trip or money.

A friend suggested checking out this place when he caught me salivating over how great his salad looked. At the time I was in the area getting my hair done. So i decided to stop by since this place was in walking distance. First, I walked in and grabbed a to go menu to glance over. The prices were ridiculous for something as simple as a salad. I’d expect those prices for a popular salad spot in nyc. Not downtown on Halsey street. Anyway, I decided what the hell, I’ll just give it a try. And to my disappointment, I wish I had just put the menu back and walked out. The salad was mediocre at best. The ingredients didn’t taste fresh. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to express my disdain in person because I bought the salad to go and didn’t have a chance to eat it until about 5 – 10 minutes after I left. I won’t be back to this place and I don’t recommend it.

I have to say that I’ve been to four breakfast spots in the area and they had the best tasting morning veggie wrap. I asked for spinach instead of cheddar cheese, and added jalapeños… Ask for their homemade roasted red pepper and avocado dressing, and you are IN! It was 5 bucks and should have been 6 or 7 with add-ins or changes but it’s filling, healthy and delish. If you’re on a budget, and like add-ons– maybe come once a week. But if you’re fine with items how they advertise, it’s not a bad price. Also, I had a latte with soy milk and agave/honey sweetener and it was realllllly good! Definitely will return here. Friendly guy making the food and friendly gal at the register.
