Hertz Rent A Car

My girlfriend was in an accident which is it was the other drivers fault, and therefore his insurance covered everything. She had to go through Hertz for the rental car because thats who they worked with.
Living in Newark these guys were right around the corner. When we signed for the car they were very friendly and seemingly helpful. Car was great but once the initial two weeks passed, they began debiting her account automatically for rental charges instead of going through the insurance company as the contract was set up. Once we noticed we called a minimum of 6 times and they always said they would call back in the morning, which of course never happened… not even ONCE did they call back, but continued to debit the account. We then called the insurance which were equally annoyed and said they should never debit her account directly they should have went through them (the insurance company). They then sent Hertz an update to the agreement and (big shocker) they STILL continued to debit her account instead. A total of about 3 weeks worth of rental charges were eventually charged to our account. Only after reaching out to Hertz once again did they finally, and very un apologetically began charging the insurance as this whole contract was set up to do.
Fast forward a couple weeks after the car was returned and she gets a Hertz charge on her account for $ 44.00 worth of tolls. Come to find out they charge $ 5.00/per day just for having the «Plate Pass» device. even if you don’t use it that day! Im sure that was swindled into the small print somewhere from these criminals so I guess I can’t complain too much about that. But wait its not done yet more than a month later and we have almost forgotten about Hertz… no surprise here another $ 5.00 charge to our account.
I called to complain about these charges especially after everything we’ve already dealt with and after a long awkward pause the guy simply said «Ok I’m transferring you» and transferred me to corporate customer relations without another word. She explained all the non sense fees very coldly and plainly and couldn’t care less about our nightmare experience. What a joke of a company, first and last time I will ever use Hertz.

I’ve used this location three times, twice for business and once for my personal use. The staff members are always friendly.
