It’s quick and cheap Chinese food… so really you can’t be expecting too much. I’ve come here for years and haven’t had any issues. Granted I only get the vegetable lo mein or broccoli lo mein. It’s been consistently… the same. It fills up and with a bunch of soy sauce and hot sauce, tastes decent. Only thing that irks me is the price variation. I probably paid the same amount for my food like twice ever. Meh.

Not one of the better Chinese food places I’ve been to, but it’s alright. Lunch specials run to 3PM, so if you want a cheap meal for $ 6, go here. Normally order the General Tso Chicken, it’s not bad but it’s great either. Atmosphere is a bit messy, in serious need of renovations. Overall, if I don’t have anywhere else to eat, King Wok is where I’ll go.

King Wok is hands down, one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have ever been to. I became physically ill after only eating a small portion of my meal .I had a bad taste in my mouth and an upset stomach for up to 24 hrs. after consuming a small amount of my meal. The only reason why King Wok is still in business is because their prices are not terrible, you get a lot of food, they deliver and they are located in the University Heights area of Newark(college students= ca-ching). The food is bland, lacking any type of possible spice and veers far off the road from traditional and or American style Chinese food. I’ve had better tasting and quality Chinese food from a gas station in the middle of nowhere in rural Iowa. The food is beyond flavorless; I added over three different types of sauces/seasonings to my fried rice and sesame chicken to try and make the meal somewhat tolerable = Epic Failure. The fried rice was inedible(very dry), the sesame chicken was chewy and full of cartilage and the cream cheese puffs somehow had a slight hint of orange«Pine-Sol» fresh flavoring. I could easily tell that the food was not fresh and more than likely had been made earlier in the day/week and re-heated multiple times. The restaurant is small, dirty and smells like burnt grease with a hint of vomit. I will never go back here again.

$ 5.75 lunch specials that include a soup or soda. As has been mentioned by other people, the main appeal of this place is its location near the NJIT/Rutgers campuses, making it one of the safer local options. The interior looks like it’s in a bit of disrepair but not unclean or unhygienic as mentioned. The food was okay– nothing amazing, nothing awful, I was content with the fried rice, chicken and string beans combo. They do a brisk lunch business. Cash only.

For being near a college campus this Chinese place gets some a high amount of traffic. The food isn’t terrible but it is most definitely not the best Chinese food that I have had. I have ordered the steamed dumplings and chicken with broccoli dish and they are both alright. I’ve had some of the regular dishes(General Tso’s chicken, etc) and haven’t been particularly amazed. If you’re looking for some quick Chinese and cheap prices this is the place to go. Don’t expect something spectacular but you’ll definitely be satisfied for the amount of money that you spent on lunch. One of the problems is that they are not open late. As a college student I am up all hours of the night and most of the time they are closed by 11PM. It would be nice if they were at least opened until 12AM, but unfortunately this is not so. The only times that I honestly eat here are for dinner and occasionally for lunch. They do not accept credit cards. Cash only. But they will deliver around the campus.

King Wok is the nastiest, non-freshest, Chinese food that also takes 30 minutes to cook you one hell of a stinky dish. At least they have clean, shiny tables and chairs to sit down in and maintain your sanity. The cashier constantly has a look of frustration, and I don’t blame her because King Wok sucks and the customers have no choice but to turn into beasts. Local university students go here because its safely located in the cross-section of drive-by cop cars with either Newark Police, NJIT University Police, Rutgers University Police, or Essex County Sheriff tagged on the side. The local residents could care less about the cops as they prefer eating non-poisonous food. King Wok is King Krap.
