If I could give this place zero stars I would! I went in this afternoon with long, chocolate brown hair. I showed a simple picture to the stylist of the color highlights I wanted (just a light, simple lighter brown ombré style with some layers, wanting to keep my length to my waist). TWO hours later, I have straight up blonde and copper on the lower half of my hair, and extremely uneven, chunky color, and about five inches cut off. Oh yeah, and uneven side swept bangs. I normally have side swept bangs and just wanted a trim. Needless to say; I have a deep conditioning treatment in my hair now and will be fixing it myself in a few days. Don’t be lazy and go there on a whim like I did just because of the convenience of them accepting walk in customers :(

I admit, I’m a sucker for a coupon.
Got a discount code that was good only at this store.
Should have learned from past experience at this place that you get what you pay for.
I tried to buy a 5 cuts for $ 50 bucks around Xmas a few years ago, nobody could figure out how to ring it up.
Came in with a discount code for $ 5 bucks off at the same time, nobody could figure out how to input the code.
So today I come in with another coupon and am told I was next .
I get seated in about 10 minutes and then she goes over to wash somebody’s hair and 10 minutes later, I’m still waiting in the chair.
The other girl was just BSing over at the register.
No other clients in salon.
Took off the poncho and the collar and walked out.
Went down to the other salon in the mall and got a haircut for the same price without the coupon.
I would guess MC was trying to drive more business to this location because of folks getting pissed off at the poor service.

If you are looking for amazing customer service and a phenomenal haircut! Master Cuts at the Newpark Mall is the place. I have been going to this location for over a year now and the hairstylist ALWAYS amazes me!!! She gives me the style i want and is always awesome to talk to…
I would like to to take a second to give dew credit to Shelly and Helen who are extremely passionate about hairstyling and do a PHENOMENAL job at styling people!!!

Sherri at MasterCuts in the New Park Mall is truly a Master at her craft. She has been cutting my hair for awhile now and I will not go to any one else but her. My family from Monterey also comes up to get their hair done by her as well. Sherri always listens to how you would like it styled as well as adds her professional advice for how it should be done and she doesn’t get offended if you choose to not take her advice. My advice is to listen to her because she really knows what she is doing and you will look fabulous when she is done.
Thank you Sherri for taking pride in your work and doing a fantastic job.

I told her to cut it shorter but it looks weird.
I went to school the next day. My classmates were looking at me… Wtf? Who cut your hair?
I was pissed!

I went in to get a simple fringe trim and to blend my very recently glued in extensions with my normal hair. This lady that cut my hair literally pulled too hard and one came out and all the other ones are loose now. I will never be coming back here again.

Surprising I know

I wish I could give this place less than 1 star. I had beautiful long hair, and wanted to get it styled, what I got was a cropped hairstyle that was terrible looking. I don’t even feel like looking at the mirror. The lady Chery or something if I remember her name right, kept saying me it’l looking good, and although I told her several times I don’t want layers or shorten my hair, she added so many layers and I just don’t know style my hair has been cut now.
Never dare to go to this place if you want to get any type of hair cut. I would regret for months, till my hair grows back.

I brought my 2 yr old here because my regular place was closed. I will never go here again and nor should you. I had to tell the hairstylist twice that his hair was uneven. Then she shaved the back of his hair and did not blend in the top of his hair… so that his hair looked like an open umbrella hanging over the back of his head… for lack of better words. Don’t do it.

They claimed that they could do my hairstyle in 45 minutes, but ended up spending an hour and a ahlf. Two of the stylists there can do your hair very well and communicate well. But one of the other stylists barely knows English. The two stylists who are competent are typically distracted with new customers coming in and phone calls.

I’m not at Newpark Mall often, but my cousin wanted to go to the Sanrio store and I needed a haircut. So even though I’m partial to Lili’s in Berkeley, I was here.
Like I said before, it’s kinda hard to mess up a buzz cut. I mean, I can do 95% of it. If I had eyes in the back of my head, I could probably do the rest.
Hamidi, the matronly woman who cut my hair, spoke enough English to determine that I wanted my hair cut short. When she was finished, she asked me to take a look. When I said I wanted it even shorter, she had no problem obliging. At the end, she even handed me a coupon for my next visit. Sadly, now that I look at the coupon, it expires in two days. My hair grows fast, but not that fast.
5 stars for the service I received. Minus one because of the cost ($ 18 compared to Lili’s $ 12). Minus another one because I found several sneaky hairs that got away from her, which I had to trim myself when I got home.

Came here like 3x and had pretty good experiences here. I came here 2x for haircuts and once for a styling up-​do for a wedding. I couldnt have been more pleased. I actually had no idea how to do my hair nor give her any details except for the fact that Im going to a wedding. The young Indian girl took me right in and began working. The other girls even came and sat down with me to talk about this wedding and just to chit-​chat. The whole thing took like an hour and came out fabulous! I had so many compliments that night and definitely had wayyy to much fun and to drink. Thank God my hair was in an up-​do and outta the way, I got sicky toward the end of the night.

I like this place. So far, I’ve come here to get my hair cut three times, and they were pretty fab. They didn’t hack off extra inches of my hair when I told them otherwise. I’ve had rather pleasant experiences here. The price used to be $ 14.95, I believe but now I think they’ve only gone up about a dollar, still worth it. Defs coming back again.

Came here to get a simple hair cut. The lady spoke little english and began cutting my hair without even asking me how I wanted it cut. My mistake I should have stopped her right there. Long story short, I got the worst hair ever, and because I cannot see without my glasses I didnt know how she was cutting my hair till it was all done. Would never ever go back here. Too expensive too for the quality of the haircut. Master Cuts has got to do something about training its people. Please!

No stars here. I came in for a bang trim in that same side swept style that I finally got right in Vegas. I came out with funky bangs.
The stylist wasn’t sure how to cut my hair when I told her what I wanted but hey that’s her job, not mine, right? My bangs are unevenly cut, not all bangs were cut, and there isn’t even a hairline that was drawn to cut my bangs! So when I look in the mirror I have a diagonal for where my bangs start– one side has thicker bangs than the other!!! WTF? I’m so screwed b/​c I have a bachelorette party to go to this Sat. It’ll take awhile to get things back on track. On top of that she had asked me if I wanted to trim the rest of my hair… uh no, lady, let me see what you could do with my bangs first before you touch the rest of my hair. I tipped her $ 2, $ 2 too much!
Yikes! Don’t come here even if the bang trim is $ 5. And please, if you know of a good place to get a bang trim for cheap let me know!!! I couldn’t find one on Unilocal

Just because I cannot give less that one star, I am giving that.
We had one of the worst experiences at Master cuts in Newark. We went there for my daughter’s hair cut and we were totally ignored. The stylist didn’t show that we existed.
So wrote our name in the register and waited outside. Later on other lady came and she wrote her name and went straight to the chair and this stylist: Ganga started talking to her and cutting her hair. This lady didn’t have an appt, she had written her name after our name on register.
Worse experience came even later. My daughter is 12 yrs old and for 12 and under charges are $ 11.95; but Ganga charged us $ 14.95 (adult charges) when the store clearly says 12 and under should be charged $ 11.95. I asked Ganga, why are you charging us more? It says different amount. Ganga said «Oh, it is not 12 yrs, itis 11 yrs old and under» when the big bold letters clearly said 12 yrs and under.
Really really bad experiences in each and every way. Highly not recommended.
