This park used to be in pretty rough shape. There was this giant pyramid at the play ground that homeless people used to sleep in; people also pee’d in it a lot. It was a huge eye/nose sore, but I’m not going to lie it was pretty fun to horse around on. The playground has been revamped and now everything is safe and sound. It’s definitely more kid friendly. Across the way, they’ve also upgraded the basketball court area. The floors and the hoops are all new. They leveled out this giant wall that used to have graffiti all over it. The wall also smelled like pee by the way. The only thing at the park that they’ve yet to upgrade is the bbq area. It’s still old and raggedy, but there’s been less frequency for thug congregation over there, so that’s a plus. Overall this park is a good place to go to for whatever people do at parks.

I would love to rate this park a 5. I was taking my son here 2 – 4 times a week. It’s enclosed with a gate around it so he seemed safe at all times. It has two separate climbing structures, swings, and several slides. It has a huge grass area at the entrance of the park, it also backs up to a school, and parents of toddlers are often here with there little ones. However, it is dirty. Theirs is always garbage, broken glass at the picnic area, and vulgar graffiti, not street art; just hand written memos of which slides people had sex on. Today my 2 year old picked up a bottle of some hobo’s urine. I will not be returning to this park unless I have gloves and a garbage bag. The worthless city of Newark comes to only water the grass and change the trash. You will see them here if your a regular. Never once do they walk into the park to check it for any necessary pick up or needed clean up of graffiti. I would love to assume that the police do regular PM drive by’s to check for hobos or wayward youth destroying community property, but of course the Newark police department is just as ignorant as the city clean up crew. Suggestion: bring a garbage bag and gloves if you have little ones that pick stuff up. Keep them in the stroller while you do a quick clean up of the play structures, I found the bottle at the top of the highest slide. If your kids are at an age where they can read, skip this park all together. Their is vulgarity written on every slide.

Cool park! I like the layout of the playground. It’s very spread out so you can keep an eye on your kid easier. The playground is also fenced in, which is always a comforting feature. There’s a little area with picnic benches and a grill, and a large grassy area with plenty of trees and even a trail for walking and jogging. It’s a neat park for the neighborhood!

This is one of the best kept secrets of Newark. Excellent play structure for little kids and for school aged kids. Usually hardly anyone there. City and residents need to do better keeping it clean from dogs and snack garbage.

Small neighborhood park. We’ve taken the little one on Sunday mornings and usually 1 other kid is there. There are 2 play grounds side by side. One is for the wee ones and the other for the bigger kids. There are infant swings and big kid swings. There’s an open field to run around and kick a ball however just be aware where you are stepping. There were plenty of areas of poop. Picnic tables are available under shaded trees and there is also some basketball courts.

A first rate park in a single family home neighborhood. Parking is available either on Cherry Street, or in the court where Montcalm Avenue dead ends. It has something for everyone. Amenities include a good sized play area for kids, basketball court, a large open green area for sports like softball or soccer, walking or jogging paths, and a picnic area. The park is well kept, clean and safe. It’s relaxing just to go there and walk around.

Such a cute place to hang out with kids or by yourself. It’s a nice neighborhood park that is well kept and quiet. Nice to see people walking with their dogs or just going for a stroll. It’s a small park so don’t think you’re gonna do major laps or run track here. Think small and quaint but not in a bad way :)

I love that this park is super nearby me within walking distance. Sometimes whenever I need to clear my head, I would go run around here and enjoy the serenity of the residential outdoors. There’s a cute playground area, and my favorite thing about the playground is the Dinosaur which I occasionally take naps on. Just kidding. I just posed as if I’m taking a nap for the picture. Haha =P But this is a cool park for everyone who lives in the neighborhood to enjoy. There’s lots of green grass where I see kids play soccer sometimes, basketball court that’s very useful if you want to practice shooting hoops, and picnic/grill area too.
