I went there for dinner with a friend tonight. There were a bunch of people at the bar. Jessica the waitress was friendly but not very attentive. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip for an appetizer. It tasted buttery and I didn’t taste the artichoke at all. They didn’t slice the bread very well so we had to tear it and get our fingers buttery. My friend ordered a turkey or chicken burger that in my opinion was bland. I ordered the salmon BLT with a side salad. There was very little salmon and all I really tasted was the rye bread. It came with a pickle that was very squishy and almost non edible. The salad was the best thing and everything, which is kind of disappointing. I guess people come more for the bar because the food was pretty mediocre. For an almost $ 45 check I’m not really sure I would come back here again.

This bar is a convenient spot to get away to on any night of the week. They have a good selection of beer and a cool layout. That being said, this place is dirty, wet, smoky, and has a sloppy appearance. But it also has a lot of potential. Maybe new management and renovation would help. Food is bland. But the service has always been solid. It reminds me of «Moes tavern» from the Simpsons, or if you will«Moes family feedbag». Look, I ain’t gonna take my wife here. But I will show up for a flyers game and several beers with a friend. If you’re a clean freak, this isn’t the place for you. It’s not great, But, for some strange reason, I keep going back.

This bar is a Cougar hangout. Plenty of Cougar talent and not many dudes to compete with. I like my odds here!

The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is wonderful and I have never had a bad experience. Staff takes the time to get to know the regulars… Happy hour includes free snacks! Definitely a late night favorite

I’ve been going to this restaurant my whole life. I may be giving this business 4 stars off of nostalgia and not the actual food that is served, but I always seem to have a good time when I go there. The food is just average– the buffalo chicken tenders and nachos and some of the other appetizers are probably the best items on their menu, whereas the entrees are largely mediocre. But oh, the nostalgia. The buzzed/drunk 30 – 40 year olds smoking outside in their little smokers’ pavilion in the 10 degree weather. The unlimited popcorn. All the Phillies and Eagles games I’ve watched there. Taking the scenic Fox Den road to get there from Newark. I love it! This place has some decent food, but if you didn’t grow up in New Castle County and/or are traveling and visiting from another area and are looking for a bar/American cuisine type restaurant, skip McGlynn’s and go to Klondike Kate’s on Main Street in Newark or Kid Shelleen’s on West 18th Street in Wilmington.

I don’t know why there are so many two and three star reviews for this restaurant. The bar crowd can be a little rowdy. But the food is so good. If you don’t like the bar atmosphere just get your food to go. The farmhouse burger is worth the trip alone they also have great steaks.

I had dinner at McGlynn’s Pub on Tuesday June 23. Tuesday evening is ½ price burger night. I arrived at approximately 6;30 pm. I sat at the bar — it was rather full. Burger night is very popular and there is a large«regulars» crowd. My seat was behind a waiting station and cash register, so my view of TVs was slightly limited. There are several large screen TVs on the wall around the bar area. The bartender served as my waiter. He was friendly, helpful and prompt. I had the burger with swiss cheese and bacon. I asked for the burger to be medium and it was. The fries were cooked fine. The burger was large and I thought it was in the same ball park but maybe a touch below the burgers I have had lately at Argilla Brewing Co. and Iron Hill Restaurant. On burger night the burger is ½ price, but the toppings are regular price($.50/each). They do have fee popcorn. My only real negative was the feel of the facility. It felt a little unclean. I will return at some time for another burger.

The food was awful. We ordered the hummus platter to start, and couldn’t even finish it… Good place to drink beer I guess.

I have been a regular at McGlynns for years now, and there simply is not a pub and restaurant exactly like this. The bar tenders are friendly and always know your name and favorite drink. Large flat panel TVs are always playing your favorite game and the popcorn machine is always on. If you’re after something more substantial, then the restaurant menu doesn’t disappoint. With a large imported beer list and an atmosphere conducive for a good time you can’t go wrong.

I go here a lot and the food is pretty good. The staff is nice and friendly and the facilities are clean. The selection of food is pretty good though could be a bit better. The popcorn offered is very good and a nice addition to a meal. The prices are reasonable and I would definitely recommend this place.

McGlynns has something ridiculous going on, apparently they have free food during Happy Hour. What! Friday they had nachos, roast beef subs and fried clam strips. Free almost always tastes good, but the food really was! Especially the roast beef which was rare, just the way I like it. Rumor has it sometimes they have vodka pasta or alfredo, and they have something different every day. This was the first time I actually ate anything other than popcorn, we will definitely be stopping back for more!

The food and the service is good, just what you would expect from a pub, with tasty menu that’s good for lunch and dinner. I would definitely recommend the crab and artichoke dip; very delicious.

Our family use to love this place. The burgers were awesome especially when the grill was near the bar area. Now the food is cold the burgers, steaks overdone and served cold, the wine glasses looked dirty… luckily they have popcorn. After the last 3 or 4 times going back was continually disappointed but wanted to give it another try… don’t know what has happened but finally gave up…

Great place to catch up with your guy friends for football on Sunday’s. Also, the bartenders are personable and get to know you. Kinda like Cheers, probably dating myself :)

I will skip this from my places to eat. What happened? It’s not all bad news… the butermilk/panko crusted onion rings are still a winner and the Ahi Tuna Burger was good(so says my daughter). I ordered a bowl of the soup of the day — Chicken Gumbo. Whoa! It was a bowl of rice with a watery broth that maybe someone waved a tomato over. Oh, one tiny piece of chicken… I sent it back and opted for a bowl of Chili… Yuck! A tomato pasty mess surrounded by a pound of flavorless tortilla chips! The Shrimp & Grits ordered by my husband was a special of the day. They need to delete the word«special» from the menu description. It was way over-priced. It was served in a large bowl and it was hard to find the amount of flavorless grits with cooked green pepper on top. Huh? The shrimp and the sausage pieces were overcooked what there was of them. Good thing they still have the complimentary popcorn, or I would have left very hungry. The waiter was friendly… so that was a bonus!

It’s a local place for sure, if you are going to have a Pub Menu then they should deliver, which on my 2nd time back they didn’t, food is thrown together, missed items, and I feel that you don’t get what you pay for. I won’t go for the Food.

I made a special trip here yesterday for their delicious open face crab melt sandwich… only to find it was taken off of the menu. Bummer! The crab cake sandwich was an ok substitute, but really just not what I was craving. Thank god they still have great drink specials and complimentary super buttery popcorn!

McGlynn’s is great at being what it is supposed to be — a local pub for locals to grab beers, have a chat and eat bar food. Don’t expect anything more and the place is certainly populated with many regulars. That said, the people there are pretty friendly and welcoming which is good and the drinks are inexpensive. The food is what you would expect from a place like this, but that’s okay — McGlynn’s is a local pub with pub food. Actually the food is slightly above average pub fare, so grab some wings or a Reuben and a few beers. Also I’m conflicted on whether or not this is a good place to watch sports. The atmosphere is great(especially if you’re a fan of the Eagles, Phillies or Flyers) and people will get fired up. Unfortunately the television set up isn’t awesome, it’s just okay.
