Okaaay, new favorite sushi spot! I came in last night with my fam & we were seated immediately. The waiter took our drink orders right away & brought out complimentary edamame. I was impressed by their sushi menu! Most sushi restaurants out here are just 20 types of California rolls with different toppings. I also like that they have kids bento boxes! My kids could never finish a full size chicken teriyaki plate. Shortly after bringing our drinks, the waiter returned to take our order. I ordered the Kamikaze roll(around $ 10) — hella good btw. They also were kind enough to bring us miso soup & calamari appetizer on the house, which was very tasty! & as if free edamame, miso soup, & calamari wasn’t enough, they gave us each a scoop of strawberry ice cream as well! Overall, great food & great service! I would definitely recommend to a friend :)

Decided to stop here Friday evening with friends to fuel up for a looong road trip to Yosemite. This is a charming little place located inside of a grocery store shopping center with extremely friendly wait staff– they even offered us a complimentary potsticker appetizer! We ordered the Ball of fury(literally a ball of spicy tuna wrapped in avocado slices drizzled in eel sauce– yum!), Hawaiian roll, SF Giants roll, spicy tuna classic roll and an order of chicken yakitori. Included with your meal is a bowl of miso soup and ice cream for dessert! The fish was very decent quality considering our bill came out to $ 46. Everything was excellent but likely I wouldn’t order the chicken skewers again– the chicken chunks were thigh meat that seemed slightly undercooked and didn’t have the same great flavor as the sushi, but hey, is IS a sushi restaurant! Great food, great prices, I can’t wait to go back. My mouth waters just at the thought of those sushi rolls now…

Was here along with the hubby on Jan 31st, Sunday afternoon. We were in the neighborhood and decided to visit this place based on Unilocal reviews. We were at the spot 1ish and the wait time was around 20 mins. The restaurant is too compact, couldn’t wait inside. Ambience: This is an L-Shaped, small & cramped place. Expect long wait time and fully packed house during peak hours. Table for 6s, 4s &2s are their seating options. They had Sushi Bar and there was only 1 guy making all the sushi’s at the counter other than kitchen staff(Hard to believe)!! Service: There were 2 waitresses and both attended us. Only one of them was patient enough, helped us with the menu options and was seemingly accommodating. Not to blame the reception of the other, but she served disinterestedly and so her service can’t be greatly appreciated. Overall, although our order came quick, somehow felt the service here was not as pleasing as we’ve experienced elsewhere. Food(my review for Veg eaters): Their gourmet sushi menu options looked impressive and tempting. We even asked for one of them to be customized to Veg, but sadly they don’t modify. At the end, we settled with their«O’Bento Box-3 item Bento» for each of us. It’s served with miso soup, salad & rice and comes in with 3 choices from their overall Bento Box selection list. We picked up their Edamame, Avocado roll, Tempura, California roll, Gyoza(veg) & Kappa Mak(Cucumber roll). — Miso Soup was Hot & Flavorful. — Salad dressing was tasty and good. — We prefer Edamame to be served with garlic, but O’Sushi serves only Plain Edamame and to our dismay, they don’t serve Garlic Edamame at all. — Avocado roll had mushy Avocados and the rolls did not come with the usual stiffness, they easily broke. — Liked their Tempura. Came with different veggies like onion, broccoli etc. They tasted great, not too oily and crispy to munch. — Gyoza is a Japanese styled Pan-Fried Savory Dumplings, came with 5 small sized pieces. This was good, well cooked and the veg stuff inside were tasty. — California roll had avocado & imitation crab, topped with sesame dressing. This tasted average, rolls were not stiff. — Kappa Mak or Cucumber roll was presented tight surprisingly. Guess it’s because of the seaweed cover, which shielded from breakage. Well, they tasted decent. — The plain rice was not accompanied by any interesting side to add flavor to it. Extra veggies would’ve complimented it better. **SUSHIROLLSWERESLIGHTLYCOLD** Price: 3 item Bento Box Pricing differs according to meal. It’s $ 10.95 for Lunch and $ 14.95 for dinner and if in case you wanna add any same repeated item of your choice to the bento box selection, they charge you extra $ 3. Dessert Bonus: They serve you 1 scoop of nice and thick ice cream(flavor of their choice and guess it differs on different days). We had Strawberry each. It was truly YUM! Not sure to come again all the way!

Lena and I decided to try this sushi spot for dinner since it was close by and there were sooooo many positive reviews. It’s a pretty small spot so we were glad to be seated immediately despite the dinner rush. The staff was super friendly and patient as we tried to figure out what to order. We ended up sharing the M&M Roll, Tempura Roll, Poki Roll, and a Bento Box. Yes, we were hungry and these guys definitely brought their A game! All of the rolls were presented beautifully and tasted delicious! Some of these rolls are on the pricier side, but they pack it with so much fresh fish and they taste and look so amazing, you know it’s worth it! My favorite of the night was the M&M roll. Definitely a must try! Thankfully my date saved me from the spicy tuna and unagi and didn’t let it go to waste since I am allergic.(Forgot to ask to put it on the side) Oh and each tempura roll was stuffed with like 2 – 3 shrimp tempuras which was so good and filling. The bento box came with teriyaki beef, chicken katsu, and assorted tempura. Our only issue is that the katsu was kinda thin, but the batter was on point and the portions were HUGE. After devouring what we could, they ended up giving us green tea ice cream on the house. The staff is awesome and the service is quick. Food is fantastic and the price/portions is fair. Keep doing what you’re doing! I’ll be back!

Food: 4 stars Service: 3 stars The sushi here is pretty good but the service ruined our experience. Our waitress was not attentive and we always had to try to get her attention. At one point the chef glared at us a couple times. Made us super uncomfortable so we left. Really depends on who you get.

For the price, you get a screaming deal here. we had the chirashi, takoyaki, grilled squid, bento deluxe box x2, and a shrimp tempura roll. All very tasty, however minus one star for the fishy tasting chirashi. it nearly made me gag. Dunno if it was just the fish that the roe was sitting on or if it was the roe itself. had a slice of the raw salmon and it was perfect. hoping it was a one off. Super friendly staff and FREE ice cream to complete your meal. Yum Yum Yum! Will be back…

4.5 Stars out of 5 Stars Found myself a new sushi spot to go to. I spotted this place after reading a few good reviews and looking at the high ratings. This place is quite small, and parking is hard to find. I came here with my boyfriend for dinner. We got here around 6pm, and there was people lining up to be seated. Our wait wasn’t too long, probably waited for 20 mins. max. We ordered their crunch roll and top gun sushi roll to share, and a bento box. I got the 3 items dinner bento box w/chicken katsu, beef teriyaki, and california roll. ** If you want the same item twice, it would be additional cost. Before our entrée came, we got complimentary miso soup, salad, and gyoza(potstickers). For their miso soup, they add real tofu into their soup, which was awesome, and their potstickers were on point. It was not oily at all, and it was still super crispy. Now onto their rolls, their rolls were really fresh and it tasted great. I really liked their crunch roll. Basically they fried the california roll, and they added sweet sauce on top of it. It tasted AMAZING. The bento box took the longest to come. My boyfriend and I were pretty full already, and we still had to wait additional 10 mins., we wanted to cancel the order but it finally came out. Their service were pretty good, but they’re slow with their bento box. Everything tasted good, besides the beef teriyaki, it was a bit dry and needed more sauce. Overall, loved my experience here. I would recommend people to try this place out. The portions here are pretty good size and not too pricey. At the end, they also gave us a small cup of green tea ice cream. It was really smooth and had a strong green tea flavor. This place was worth every penny! Our total meal was under $ 40 including tips!

Small restaurant, so there was a little bit of a wait when I came(it was Saturday night though, so understandable). We were seated at a large table, yay! Service was pretty good except they could have refilled the waters a little more frequently. All of the sushi rolls we ordered were very good. We had the M&M roll, super lion king roll and super California roll. My dad had the chicken teriyaki dinner which he said was just okay. Oh and the jalapeño popper appetizer lacked in flavor. Other than that I really liked the food. They brought out gyozas and said they were on the house. Awesome! They were pretty good. And they also brought of green tea ice cream after the meal. Yum! I will definitely come back and try some different rolls!

Second visit. Ordered a 3 item bento. Teriyaki chicken was rubbery and undercooked. Teriyaki beef slightly undercooked. The beef was a lot better the last time we were here. Tempura was nice. Really disappointed about that chicken though. Especially considering how long it took to come out. Had a dragon roll as well– tasted great, but was falling apart. Service is nice enough, and the free gyoza and ice cream was cool, but that undercooked rubbery chicken, ugh :(

Before I even start this review, I did NOT try the sushi here. Growing up in Fremont, I’ve been to this address many times. And lo and behold, it changes it’s name(or maybe ownership) many times and I must say, that they’ve done it. «But Wiseley, you didn’t even eat the fish, how can you give a sushi restaurant 5 stars?» Well I’ll tell you why. Me and 3 friends wanted to come to this location for dinner on a Saturday night. I arrived first and there wasn’t anyone waiting, but still no tables available. I took the time to look around; pretty much everything was the same, nothing special there. Fast forward a bit, we were seated and given our menus. It was nice that they even gave us a bowl of edamame before we ordered because I was starving. Before I arrived, I already knew what I wanted — nabeyaki udon. I must say, this place is extremely affordable so it would’ve been a good day to try the sushi, but you know, cravings.(I will update my review when that day comes) Anyways, as we waited for our food to come, our server brought us a plate of gyoza on the house. They weren’t anything too special and I actually burned my tongue on one of them because I was too eager, but that’s my own fault. Our orders come out after some time and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. The nabeyaki udon came in a large bowl with plenty of everything. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to a restaurant and they skimped out on the good stuff whether it be the meat or noodles. As we finished our meal, our server brought out some green tea ice cream for me. Let me tell you, it’s not that cheap stuff that has chunks of ice on it. I want more! Going back to my first point; I really enjoyed my visit to O’Sushi. The service was phenomenal, my meal was more than I expected and they definitely know how to treat their customers(w/more food)!

Not bad at all. I’ve had this place bookmarked since they opened but was a little reluctant to go there based on my experiences from the previous sushi spot that was there(old town sushi). I don’t think these are the same owners and if they are, wow what an improvement! I came here for lunch with my dad, who comes here regularly. He was telling me about how the sushi is really good and fresh and extremely affordable. No lie. I don’t think there was a single roll over $ 12 on the menu. I also noticed their chirashi prices are all about $ 15 as well. Again, not bad! I’ll have to get that next time. We had ordered what seemed like the whole menu. Pops loves his sushi lol. Started off with an order of gyoza and chicken karaage(mainly for my little one but we dug in too). Chicken was nice, juicy and crispy, and came with a creamy sweet dipping sauce. The gyoza were really good, super crispy and not greasy at all. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of either but I did scan over them in a video. Then came the rolls. We ordered a crazy horse roll, kamikaze roll, tempura roll and Hawaiian roll. The crazy horse roll was ginormous and could not be eaten in one bite. Maybe 4 bites. Inside had avocado, salmon, ahi and hamachi. Super fresh and delicious. The kamikaze roll had tempura shrimp inside and was topped with spicy ahi, tobiko, tempura crumbs and this spicy and creamy sauce. I really liked that one, and I’m not one for tempura rolls. At all. The tempura roll was meh… Just a piece of shrimp tempura rolled with way too much rice and a little avocado. Skip that one. The hawaiian roll was another really tasty one as well, spicy ahi and cucumber inside and ahi on top. I also had a hot tea with my lunch which was actually more like a luke warm tea but it was fine. I like tea so I wasn’t complaining. Oh, did I mention that edamame, miso soup and ice cream are all included with your order? Whatever it may be… Not just dinners or bentos. The ice cream flavor they gave me was like a mocha almond fudge flavor, which is not my favorite. But that turned out to be ok because there was a huge block of solid ice in the middle of my ice cream. Luckily my lil one’s ice cream was all clear of ice, they gave her strawberry(wise choose for the little ones). Overall, I liked this place. Good sushi at extra reasonable prices. Only gripe… Keep the tea hot and use less rice in the tempura roll! Easy fixes. Other than that, I plan to come back!

This is a place to go to get good sushi for decent price. First off they give out a lot of complimentary stuff to make you feel welcome, like edamame, pot stickers and Ice cream. and their customer service has definitely improved that what it was. This is a improving place and its not the same as it was before, not that it was bad before. you have to give credit for ownership that listens to critics and improves their restaurants and steps up their game. They also have a bunch of TV’s here to watch the game, usually have Warriors on which is a plus. Not if its a great date place, but more a night out with your family kinda place. the rolls are huge, filling and extremely delicious. Give this place a try.

My wife and I love eating sushi and were in the mood for some recently. We did a quick search and found O’Sushi and decided to give it a try. Upon entering we were greeted with friendly smiles and led to a table near the bar. We were immediately asked if we wanted anything to drink and were soon brought some complimentary Edamame and Miso soup. After looking over the menu we decided to try the Jalapeño Yellowtail, the Honeymoon, the M&M, the Super Lion King and their Scallop and Uni Crudo, that was listed on the specials board. It was still very early in the day so the restaurant wasn’t too crowded and our first dish arrived soon with each dish arriving soon after. In the midst of eating our second dish a server came by with complimentary gyoza! My wife loves gyoza and after tasting them was very satisfied, she even praised the sauce that was served with it claiming that it had a light sweetness that went well with the gyoza. All the dishes looked beautiful on their plates and were even better once we tasted them. Our tastebuds were treated to a festival of sensations, from tangy, to sweet, to spicy… each bite delivered! We were so thoroughly satisfied that we knew this would not be our only visit and that a review needed to be written. If you are in the area of Newark and are looking to eat some great sushi then stop by O’Sushi.

I am a Victim of Turkey Burn Out LOL. I needed something Different !!! So Sushi came to mind. I gave my Ankle Bracelet a good charge. I jumped into the Whip and rolled to O Sushi and Newark. I parked in the large parking lot and rolled in to O Sushi . I received a Very Warm welcome from the Staff. I opted to sit at the Sushi Bar. That’s where all the Action Happens. There’s multiple LCD TVs there tuned to the Warriors & King game. The Warriors Whipped that ass. My Server brought me a Glass Of Water, Edamame, Garden Salad and a Menu. I perused the Menu and ordered the 3 Item Bento Box — Chicken Katsu, Teriyaki Salmon and Tempura. After taking my order, my Server brought me a bowl of Miso Soup . The Service at O Sushi is very Good and the Sushi Chefs our quite social. The Sushi Chef I spoke to had 16 years experience crafting Sushi and also had a $ 1300 Carbon Steel Sushi Knife from Japan. O Sushi is also Brightly Lit and Clean. My Server brought me my Bento Box and I was impressed the Portions were good sized . The Tempura was fried to perfection, The Salmon Teriyaki tasted wonderful. The Chicken Katsu was a good sized portion and came with a Tasty dipping sauce. Definitely a nice change from Turkey LOL. After I was done with my Bento Box. My Server brought me a Bowl of Green Tea Ice Cream and the Bill. I perused the Bill and paid by Credit Card and rolled out. Ill be back.

O’ Sushi is 200% Korean owned. When I step through the door and I hear the words, «Irasshaimase» my first instinct is that the speaker is not Japanese. A true Japanese person would welcome the customer with an abbreviated(and gruffer) version, «…shaimasu» not pronouncing the first two syllables and scrimping the last syllable. I drank no less than three cups of O’Sushi’s(admittedly lukewarm) Barley Tea served in these nice metal cups. At first I was disappointed that it wasn’t green tea, but oh well, they’re Korean. Now why aren’t the chopsticks metal too? Anyway, you’ll probably pass the time eating edamame green beans before you’re allowed to order. So tonight being slightly cold, I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon. I got a salad, which I really liked, the dressing being the best part. When I got my entrée, the bowl was the size of a ramen donburi. I got a piece of tempura in mine, and it was fine, except the breaded exterior was soggy meaning it must not have been crisped enough. I was happy with the wakame, chicken, and broth. However, my sister gave up her seafood udon after a while because she’s allergic to MSG and her skin was showing symptoms. Thusly, I got to eat the mussel and oysters she left behind, and they were good, esp. the oyster. I also had some of my mom’s Green Valley Roll, which was covered in avocado slices, and they were fine too. I also got the Korean popcorn chicken in a honey mustard sauce, which was just fine. Then we got some green tea ice cream, which they just gave us, and it was pretty good. Altogether, the price of the meal was not bad. All the dinner specials were under $ 15. If you come here for dinner, and you’re not getting sushi, you obviously want the dinner-exclusive menu items. Otherwise, the lunch menu is significantly cheaper, and you might want to come here for lunch instead. Finally, the atmosphere is nice. It’s warm and well-lit. Japanese sushi places tend to be pretty dim, so O’Sushi is «O’Right» in my book.

No. Really Newark? I won’t be heading this way in lieu of much better nearby establishments. Free ice cream does not a 5 star sushi place make… Anyone who gave this 5 stars– I am sorry have you been to a 5 star sushi place? You really should check out other places with fresher fish, more selection of rolls, quality(they used rotten parts of avocado in my rolls and flipped it over!) see pic. It tasted weird and so I finally took a closer look and of course all of the nasty old part was on bottom. The tempura was not light and tempura like– I can only describe as heavy(almost American style) deep fried vegetables. Disappointing considering we took a trip this direction based in the reviews. The chicken teriyaki was burnt and tasted like it was cooked on an unclean grill. No. Will definitely not be back.

I didn’t use Unilocal to find this place. I came to the area for a massage and since they didn’t pick up a phone, I just showed up, hoping for some openings. Their next available was 45 mins later. So I looked around to find this place located at the same area as the massage place. I am not familiar with the area and didn’t know what to expect. A quick look on Unilocal at the restaurant before ordering, I was pleasantly surprised with many good reviews here. Feeling good about this place, I ordered chirashi bowl. Whenever I am not sure, I got for chirashi. Good way to assess the restaurant. The first bite of a fish, I was like wow, this sashimi taste good, really good quality fish. I enjoyed every piece of sashimi on that bowl. Unfortunately I didn’t like their soy sauce. It tasted a bit watered down. I like to dip my sashimi in just a bit of soy sauce, but since their soy was weak, I ended up soaking my fish in the soy sauce bowl. Also had was American style sushi. Ordered A’s roll but Philadelphia rolls style. It was additional $ 2 to upgrade to Philadelphia style, but it ended up tasting so much better. The original A’s roll is made of California roll. The sauce they used for the roll enhanced the flavor and went really well with Philly roll inside. I enjoyed complimentary green tea ice cream. Nice way to end good meal.

This place has stepped up its game. After the constant changing of owners and names, it seems like it’s finally found its happy zone. They’ve gotten rid of the abnormally large fish tank from the previous owners and instead adding two additional elevated tables. They’ve also added flat screens so you can definitely catch the game. They were great about putting the Giants on when requested. Now the food. The prices are standard of a fast ish Japanese restaurant. It’s not cheap, but it’s not pricey either. They have some fancy rolls, and decent bento options. They also give you complimentary green tea ice cream at the end. It wasn’t the best but hey it’s free. They are trying so that’s nice :)

Came here and ordered the Deluxe Sushi Combo. It comes with seven pieces of nigiri, six pieces of California rolls, and six pieces of tekka(tuna maki) for about $ 17. The nigiri pieces include tuna, yellowtail, mackerel, salmon, red snapper, sweet shrimp and squid. I was delighted to how good their quality of fish is. What especially blew me away was their tuna, but everything else was exceptional as well. Rich in both flavor and in texture, but to my surprise, I was actually disappointed by their salmon. The service here was good too. They are attentive without being annoying. Pricing here is slightly cheaper than other places by a dollar or two. For higher quality fish at a lower price, I’m happy.
