Pros: 1. They offer good beer with fair acceptable price. 2. Service is the better part as waiter and waitress checked our table couple of time during the course, which is obviously better than other Chinese restaurant. Cons: 1. The food is ok as we might get too spicy for the grilled fish, I can’t help just drinking lots of water when back home. 2. The dining environment is also quite clean, but anything after the casher counter might need some improvements, such as more cleaner condition to avoid fruit fly(saw one flying around).

Decided to try this place for a quick bite on the way home. Do not get the Deep Fried Pepper«Chicken” — we were warned it was bone-in, but we were expected wing-type bones. These tiiiiny pieces of meat flecked with tons of small bones smothered in mounds of dried chili pepper were questionably chicken, at best. Serving bone-in meat like this is a health and choking hazard. Maybe the chili was meant to cover this fact up? From other reviews it sounds like this place does its best to skimp on quality and portions. I was extremely disappointed, we won’t be back to experiment more.

Great authentic Szechuan whole fish cooked in an amazing spiced broth & veggies. Sting and spicy flavors. Obviously the most favorite dish as 2⁄3 of tables had that selection.

The grilled fish tastes very good but the fish size is small compared to other place(even we add $ 3 more for a larger fish). We can barely find the whole body of the fish after the waiter stir the fish at the first place. We ordered the Fuqi Feipian which tastes also very good. It costs 4 of us $ 90 for 4 plates of dishes. Another two is a deep fried chicken and a veggie. I would give a higher rating if the food price would be more reasonable compared to other similar restaurant.

I gave 5 star for the food and 1 star for the service. I saw some people waiting too long at the table waiting to be served and they left without ordering. Our food was awesome, but service was a pain. Make sure you eat before coming here. By the time you get your food, you would be starved by then.

Extremely bad service. Too slow. The worst thing is we were changed additional $ 3 for a larger fish, which is not indicated on the menu. This is nothing but cheating. I’m curious why they don’t simply updated the MENU or listing it as an alternative on the MENU. Food is not bad though. But would not come again. Food was so so but service was terrible. Our waiter(the tall guy with glasses) lied to us saying that all small fish was sold out so we had to order the big fish instead, for only $ 3 extra that’s fine. But when he went on to take orders at tables around us, he never mentioned anything about the small fish was sold out instead he just suggested to them that bigger fish would taste better. And at least one table declined his suggestion. I don’t speak Mandarin unlike the tables around us, but doesn’t mean I didn’t understand! If your business is so desperate to get $ 3 more, you might as well just close it already. It doesn’t matter how good your food taste(and again you good is only ok), if your service sucks. I will never go back and if you are considering going to this place, Beware!

Was looking to pick something up to go home and eat and watch the game, and happened upon this place. I ordered a beef noodle soup and was told it would take about 10 – 15 minutes, which was fine. However, it ended up taking over 25 minutes before they brought my food out, which wasn’t a big deal either. The portion was pretty generous for the price, as the container was pretty big. But when I got home and went to pour the noodle soup into a bowl there was one big problem: there was no beef. Beef noodle soup without beef? That’s like Simon without Garfunkel, Hall without Oates, One Direction without that one kid who just left One Direction. There was also very minimal soup, so I guess what I ended up getting was just… noodles? The portion was generous, but it was still a little disappointing that I ended up just getting a big container of noodles.

We ordered the pickled veggie broth, which is still a little spicy, but not as hot so that my bf can still handle. Everything is really good, and the fish is very tasty. We couldn’t finish everything so we took them to go. but the veggies became very salty after being soaked in the broth for a long time, so I threw them away. But no big deal, you just need to have enough people and finish your food in the restaurant. I look forward to other flavors!

Clean, bright and relatively spacious restaurant. Every table ordered the grilled fish, so we figured we should order it also. We had a party of 7, so we planned on ordering a few other items also. We were kinda pressured into adding $ 3 for an extra pound of fish… we didn’t really want it because we wanted to just try the fish, but we added it anyway since it was«strongly recommended.» The fish was alright… the flavors are good, but something about digging fish bones out of a murky, red sauce was uneventful and pretty much a buzzkill for anybody who’s hungry and wanted to eat quickly. We ordered the preserved eggs appetizer and the cold jello. Both had great flavors. We also ordered a beef tendon noodle soup(not spicy) and a pork belly dish. The pork belly dish was REALLY good, and the beef noodles were also pretty good. My main issue with this place is the price. All the flavors were pretty spot-on, but the portions were small for all other dishes aside from the grilled fish. However, at $ 30($ 33 for us), we didn’t get fresh fish. We didn’t expect the fish to be fresh, but what lacked in freshness should have been made up for in size. I probably wouldn’t come back here often because there are similar restaurants in the area with similar quality food that’s more reasonably priced.

Came visit at dinner time on 1÷19÷14, worst experience ever. I totally understand their service quality may drop during their rush hours, but the waitress talked in a weird tone because we only ordered a fish with no add-ons for 3 people dinner. And the fish turns out not fresh, and after we realized that food amount is not enough, we tries to order more food. Then the waitress came back, she said, I knew these amount is not enough for you, why didn’t u order enough food in advance… And it took a longer time for the newly-ordered food coming out. Worst Chinese restaurant service!

I decided to drop by for some quick take-out and ordered the Eggplant w/Spicy Garlic Sauce and it might have been the worst eggplant dish I’ve ever had in my life. I couldn’t eat more than a few pieces and felt sick from the amount of oil. The eggplant was just swimming in chili oil. To put it simply, it was inedible. It was so bad that I think it’s changed my outlook on any potential eggplant dishes for the foreseeable future.

The spicy grilled fish is good. Love the flavors. It’s pretty spicy so be ready with water. Only downside is that it’s too oily.

I came here on Labor Day with 3 other friends and we decided to order the Spicy Numbing Szechuan Grilled Whole Fish($ 29.99). It’s basically like hot pot minus the water. Kind of like dry hot pot if you’ve had that before, but this has a whole fish under all the sides and garnishments you pick. How it works is you: 1) Choose your flavor, ranging from Spicy Numbing to Curry, Chicken Broth, Picked Pepper, Spicy Bean Paste, and more. 2) Choose your sides($ 2.5/ea), we got tofu, Vermicelli(a must get), Beancurd(excellent choice), and Siitake Mushrooms. If you are a fan of spicy, I recommend you get the Spicy Numbing as it gives you a spicy sensation that’s just really different, kind of like how wasabi’s spicy sensation is unique. Make sure you have some water though. I ordered a «Iced Sour Plum Juice»($ 2.5), this was just like they went next door to Ranch 99, bought a bottle of the asian plum juice and poured it into a cute cup with some ice and upcharged it, nothing wrong with that, it just wasn’t very special. The four of us were able to finish the Spicy Numbing Szechuan Grilled Whole Fish($ 29.99) with all our sides and we even ordered an extra appetizer, the Chef Specialty Deep Fried Pepper Chicken($ 11.95). I didn’t like it much at all, it was all bones and batter, not much meat at all, felt like eating balls of pepper/salt. The main course had a lot of flavor but it was overly SALTY, very salty. The total for the four of us including a drink each came out to be about $ 70 including tip. If you need a szechuan fix and want to try something new, I would recommend this. I just hope they fix the saltiness level and use chicken that actually has meat for their fried pepper chicken.

If I could give negative stars, I would. This place was horrible. The food was awful and the service was not great. I ordered the braised spicy beef, which to me tasted like potpourri smells(pleasant scent but awful taste). A friend of mine ordered the deep fried pepper chicken and it was just as bad. There was more peppers and bones than actual chicken. I do not recommend this place.

I like this place. If you like spicy and fish, this is the perfect place for you! Their grill fish is a bomb! We ordered the grill fish with the spicy sauce, and added $ 3 for a bigger portion of fish. It was well worth the money! It was not too spicy(they have a more spicy sauce but we opted for the not too spicy one) but flavorful. The grill fish was very good too. Two of us didn’t get to order anything else but the fish. We had so much left over that was enough for another meal for us. I would recommend this place. The spicy fish was pretty addicting and I’m thinking about it while I’m writing this review now. Can’t wait to go back and try out other items~

Wow wow wow If you’ve eaten in beijing at anyplace with szechuan fish, or anyplace that serves real peppercorns, you know most US restaurants use a tenth as much peppercorn as they do in china. This place really uses as much peppercorn, and as much spice as a run of the mill place in china. Which puts it head and shoulders above just about every place in the bay area. The inside is bright and cheery and youthful. You won’t hear any english spoken. One of the kids at the next table was wearing google glass. I only had the fish. It’s enough for 4 people, especially if you add some mushrooms. The other main dish — the dry stir fry — seemed very popular. I bet the other dishes are good, but with the fish dish this crankin’, why bother? Do not even think about ordering mu shu or general’s chicken. They don’t have it. Service is very chinese. You have to flag people down. There aren’t quite enough people working the floor at 8pm on a weeknight. I imagine the place is packed on weekends. It’s the kind of place where you’d get together a pack of 8 of your close friends, get the big steam tray of fish, and have a few brewskis for an hour or two. The guys who look like the owners(the brothers) might even come over and party with you.

I requested a table for two on a Saturday night and the server asked if I had a reservation in which I replied no. The restaurant was 65% empty but he looked as if he would have a hard time squeezing me in. Many of the tables did end up being reserved but the restaurant wasn’t packed to the brim even while we were eating. Whole fish is what every table gets unless you only go with one other person. In that case, a $ 33.99 fish is just not in the picture yet. I did try the following: –Deep Fried Preserved Egg: I’ve never had preserved egg deep fried and it makes it even CREAMIER if that was even possible. There are small squares of green bell pepper on top with sichuan peppercorn on top. In fact, there is also sichuan peppercorn underneath. It is everywhere. –Spicy Sichuan Fish: Pretty standard dish. My friend told me that this dish usually uses old fish but it still tasted tender. There are also bean sprouts and a couple seaweed slices underneath the red sea of sauce. –Sauteed Green Beans: Dry sautéed, not saucy. Sichuan peppercorns all up in this business. –Sliced Pork with Spicy Garlic Sauce: Best dish of the four maybe because there was finally a taste other than sichuan peppercorns. This is sweet like ketchup. If you’re a Sichaun food newb, you might get knocked off your socks. The spice level for all the dishes was fine for me and my tongue did get numb. However, my stomach was NOT happy afterwards. I’ll just leave it at that.
