Try the wings! Fried pickles were good. The only reason I didn’t leave 5 stars was because the pizza crust wasn’t that great. The ingredients were excellent but the crust was inferior.

Popular pizza place in Newark but not outstanding. A-Ok really nails it so three stars. The management could do a better job of staffing at lunch time, as it really made the two employees working here really have to bust their tails to keep up with the phone calls and cashing people out and the walk-in orders. Which made things a little slower but they held it together o.k.

The wings are great! Crispy, flavorful, meaty. Not those dinky wings you get from other pizzerias. The pizza was also good. Generous with the toppings, crispy crust. Staff was nice and got our order done on time even though they were behind.

My husband claims that Pontillos has the best wings in the world! I have had them and they are very good. The sauces are all great and the wings are very meaty. I personally like their pizza and all of their fried breaded options. They even have fried dough! Overall, we always hit this place up when we are in town and it satisfies our craving. If we lived here, we could not eat here too often lest we become obese.

I grew up on Pontillo’s Wings and didn’t know anything different. Little did I know that this is as good as it gets as most other places don’t make their wings this good. I live in NYC now and you can find great food all over but never wings as good as these. Every time I go to upstate NY I have to have Pontillo’s Wings. I’ve had wings in Buffalo NY and Pontillo’s is just as good. If you want to try good, real chicken wings you have to visit upstate NY and Pontillo’s is a must try! This Pontillo’s used to be up near the plaza and I used to visit them there, then they moved down Union St. across from competition and I visited them there. And now they’re in their newest location near main street, and I’ll follow them anywhere. Overall I highly recommend the wings! Oh they also have pizza and that’s ok and their subs are pretty good. I tend to just get chicken wings from them now.

Previous to my most recent visit, the last time I ate at Pontillo’s was in high school! This week though, I came home to visit from San Francisco, where, I will add, it’s damn near impossible to get a decent chicken wing, and had the chance to stop by Pontillo’s. The wings were exactly as I remembered! Crispy, spicy, meaty and delicious. Just the way a chicken wing should be. The blue cheese dressing that came with the wings was probably loaded with partially hydrogenated oil, but it tasted great and boy did I slather it on! They were pretty stingy with the celery that came with our order, but the price was right. 24 wings for $ 13.75 for three people was almost more than we could eat, but I remembered the pizza being great also, so we ordered one. Unlike the fantastic wings, the pizza just didn’t live up to my memory. The hot bubbly cheese and crispy crust were nowhere to be found, replaced with bland, rubbery cheese and a flaccid crust. I can get better pizza in San Francisco, and that is saying a lot. Four stars for the wings; two stars for the pizza. Three stars overall.
