Rape of the Locke

My wife and I got/​get our hairs cuts done by Sheila. We use to live in Delaware and went there all the time. Then we moved to NJ and drive about an hour each way to get our hair cuts by her. We now live in Indiana and when we come to visit family we make appointments to have Shiela cut our hair. Its nice to have someone who listens to what you want. As a man trying to find someone who can cut and style a man’s hair is tough. My wife wife tells her what she wants and that’s what she gets. It is as simple as that. The online scheduling is also a plus.

Today I had my haircut by Susan. I have been happy in the past… but not today.
My hair was dirty when I arrived. It was dirty when I left. I got one shampoo and no conditioner.
There wasn’t any product used on my hair.
By the time I got home my hair was a mess.
46.00 and tonight I have to wash and style my hair.
I hope this isn’t the «norm» now.

I have been coming to the Rape of the Locke for many years. Susan is very talented and I love her work. She is always pleasant and fun to chat with. Their online booking service is so easy and convenient! I can see what day and time appointments are available and then select one that is best for me. I seldom have to wait more than a minute or two when I arrive. They offer a variety of services and are very reasonable.

I had to try this place if for no other reason than the name of the salon.
My stylist was concise, chatty, and friendly. She asked me what I wanted to do with my hair, assessed any damage, etc, and got to work. What I wanted was rather simple– to fix up my hair after growing it out from bangs/​fix the layers. She razored rather well, and gave me blended layers. Nothing drastic, but essentially what I was looking for.
The only thing close to a complaint that I have is the fact that not much came off my hair– an inch if that– and I was charged the maximum in the $ 30 – 45 range listed on the website. It was a little more than I was hoping to pay, but I think it was based on the stylists expertise level. From how fast and precise she got my hair I’d say she’s quite seasoned, so I didn’t mind the price tag. I just didn’t know what to expect as a first timer.

Not only does this salon have an ingenious name, I got an awesome haircut there. The staff is friendly and calm. I had really long hair and wanted it shoulder length so Jenny (?) suggested I donate it to Locks for Love, which I thought was a great idea. After chopping off 12″, she proceeded to give me sexy layers that are perfect for summer. And there was no pressure to buy anything at all. Terrific place.
