It’s holiday season and that means spending a lot of time at airports… particularly SFO, Ithaca, and most recently, Newark EWR-Liberty. The Grub – * Vanilla bean yogurt($ 7.48) — Raspberries, blackberries, sliced almonds, dark chocolate chips. Venue Review – Red Mango has a yogurt cart situated at the end of terminal C at the top of the escalator before gates C87&C88. This little island of a stall is like any other airport stall complete with a refrigerated beverage/parfait/cold-cuts attachment. A convenient 3-step ordering menu at the top of the cart makes ordering very simple. Food Review – Toppings were $ 0.75 apiece, which made this yogurt a crazy $ 7.48. The yogurt tasted great, just as good as froyo from any ordinary store. It’s just a pity that I had to pay an arm and a leg for it. There was a really nice variety of 10+ toppings which is impressive for an airport stall. They couldn’t have many of the fancier items like mochi, cookie dough, or lychee, but they had the staple toppings such as strawberries, kiwi, berries, and an assortment of nuts and candies. Service Review – Surprisingly, the service was rather good for a yogurt cart. The girl working there was very cheerful despite the fact that it was near midnight(maybe seeing people like me stressed out with delays and knowing she didn’t have to worry about that was good enough for her). Overall Impression – If I was back home, I could easily have bought a Chipotle burrito and a bag of chips for the same price and with money to spare! Oh airport food… not a place I’d try again unless I’m close to cannibalism.
