The food is way aged… If you are lucky and you were there the day they freshly prepared the food, food tastes okay. Then onward for the whole week or they sell it out you are in for bad luck to eat the same old food…

Excellent food, really like Palak paneer, Methi malai mutter, Shahi paneer. One of the better places in Fremont for North Indian food.

This place deserves nothing less than 5 stars. This is the best and most authentic North Indian food I’ve had in the bay area so far in my short stay of 2 years haha. Everything is so yum and the prices are reasonable too. The quality of the food is amazing with just the right amount of ingredients — not too spicy, not too oily. I wish they delivered to my place in Fremont, but I don’t mind driving for 7 – 8 miles to eat their awesome food. I always order from this place for any treats or parties I host and everyone loves it. Their samosas(special mention because I’m a samosa addict! Who’s not btw? :P) are the best ones too and if they were any closer to my place, I would have gained a few pounds for sure, so yeah in the end works out that they ain’t too close haha. :)

DONOTEATHERE!!! THEYHAVEROACHES! One roach was all along the food tray at the buffet; pretty sure it crawled all over the food that it was by too. Wish I would’ve seen eat before I ate anything. I’ll never go to this place again! They didn’t have the decency to comp my food either; they still charged me! At least use that $ 10 buy a can of poison spray!

Nan, palak paneer and rice pulav is good combination. Made the food ready in 15 minutes after ordering.

If you want fresh food, get it freshly made. I had chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala, I prefer the tikka more because it was more creamy. The garlic naan is the best I’ve had in Fremont, it’s crunchy and just plain great. I wished it came with mint chutney. Service does take awhile, so come early, order and sit tight!

First review was a bit rash, fueled by hunger from waiting for my food. Food from Samraat is actually pretty good. I just wished it didn’t take so long to wait for it. The items that took the longest seem to be the paratha and the roti. Just not sure if I’d wait that long again

My husband and I always get a craving for Indian food and we’ve tried several different places in the Fremont/Newark area. This place has got to be hands down the best tasting food. The service is always on point and they genuinely care about your satisfaction. They’re always willing to answer any questions about taste, type and recommendations. Here’s our usual order: Samosa Chaat: recommended by our server and once we had it, we loved it! It’s a deliciously hot samosa drenched in yogurt with chick peas. Butter chicken(spicy): very flavorful, just enough spice and kick to it. Lamb curry(spicy): my husband loves this, I’m not a lamb eater myself but he says the taste is delicate and flavorful. Garlic naan: just the right amount of garlic. It always comes out fresh and hot! 4 half pieces Keer with the donut balls(forgot the name) but it comes in a syrup is to die for! We would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for great tasting Indian food, hot and fresh and the taste is perfection. With great service as well.

I almost always leave only positive reviews as I am not a big fan of the sensationalism that goes on with Unilocal reviews sometimes… But I immediately had to log in and write this based on the fact that the waiter decided he wanted to have an argument with me over what I ordered because he made an error and misheard me. I actually had to threaten to leave if he didn’t correct his error and only then did he storm off to return with a fake smile and tell me it would be fixed… Shame, too, the food was good.

I samosa that we ordered was over cooked. and when we have given a take out order that had 2 orders of jeera rice, they mixed both of them into one single bigger(?) box. Hey, atleast ask the customer if that is what he wants! and the take out order neither had the plastic cutlery not even the paper napkins. Food was nothing to write home about but again, i was visiting from east coast. Not too sure if i am setting a higher bar here?

My long time friend, SW and I get together when we can(which is far & few between), to catch up and of course, eat… ‘And when the occasion calls for it, we indulge in libations as well. Our default is sushi & soju, and on occasion Thai but tonight we opted to shake things up a bit and go Indian… ‘And it was an utmost excellent choice! Our order: Chicken Tikka Masala Photo — Samraat’s Tandoori Special Photo — Garlic Naan Photo — Basmati Rice Photo — Salt Lassi Photo — Total: $ 42(+ tip) Our host/waiter, «Suprit,» was as gracious and generous as one can hope for. SW and I aren’t complete newbies to Indian cuisine BUT neither we aren’t aficionados either… ‘And we’d be the first people to admit it. I’m not too proud to ask, «Uhm, a little help here?» As I wrote earlier, Suprit was awesome. — «Thank you, kind sir.» The food was delicious! I’ve had Chicken Tikka Masala before but the flavor and creaminess of the curry sauce was top notch… I’ve been thinking about the next time I can return to Samraat’s… — «Did I mention they have a lunch buffet?» Samraat’s Sampler Platter aka Samraat’s Tandoori Special is a great way to get a cross section of a little bit of this and little bit of that. You can also request to have other meats added to the platter as well, additional costs apply. I asked to have lamb added to the order.(I’ve been considering omitting lamb from my diet, it’s basically the sheep equivalent to veal.) However, that baby sheep was pretty damn tasty with just a dab of mint chutney. If god didn’t want us to eat them, he wouldn’t have made them taste so delicious.(I’m only joking, we all know there’s no god.) The Garlic Naan was tasty, fresh pieces of garlic, generously applied. I ventured from my usual Mango Lassi and ordered a Salt Lassi… ‘Just say, I won’t be doing that again anytime soon. It was different to say the least, it tasted like milk that went from bad to worse with an extra heaping of salt… I tried it and once is plenty. If you’re open-minded, a bit adventurous, give it a try, you just might like it… ‘But seriously, it smelled like hard boiled eggs, tasted like a yogurt smoothie.(True story) The clientele was a bit off, not exactly the friendliest restaurant goers that I’ve had the pleasure of dining with…(Shrugs) Who knows, could be cultural? ‘Not a big deal, just merely an observation. Bottomline, we come for the food and service. However, ambiance is a contributing factor. I need to make it back and try the lunch buffet, «Samraat Curry Hut, you’ve been warned.» Lunch buffet — $ 9.95 every day Photo — Looking forward til my next visit, «A hui hou!»(Until next time!) — Big Aloha! I luv their food !!! I know they make good north indian appetizers and Currys but if u are craving for home style food, try their tava chapatis !!! I have been going there to just eat simple garam-a-garam daal-phulka yum yum !!! Their service is awesome apart from their speed in rush hours but in return if you get freshly made chapatis I think the wait is totally worth it !!! They make good reatraunt style food which you may find some where else too but getting to eat a simple food thats like homemade is hard to find !!! Btw, this was one of the places I used to frequently go to during my pregnancy!!! Must try place if you want to have good food.

I don’t like giving a restaurant a low star rating but my family and I were very disappointed with what we’ve got. I suggested this restaurant to my hubby since the star rating is almost 5 stars, so I said we should give it a try. Our go to Indian place is the one at mowry next to Starbucks. We ordered lamb curry, butter chicken, Rogan josh, and one vegetable dish(forgot the name) anyway here’s the verdict, Butter chicken was good 4⁄5 Rogan josh– 2⁄5 Lamb curry 2⁄5 Didn’t try the vegetable dish but my hubby did, he said its 3⁄5 We also ordered the garlic naan– 3⁄5 Papadum-3/5 Mango lassi– 0⁄5 We love mango lassi and the one that we got here was horrible. It’s got that taste that you’re drinking a powder form drink and no flavor of mango in it. We ordered 5 mango lassi and we didn’t get to drink it. A waste of $ 12.50. We love Indian food, too bad we didn’t had the 5 stars experience like most Unilocalers did in this restaurant. Sadly we are not coming back again and we will probably stick on our go to Indian place at mowry for now.

My co-worker and I were about to have sushi but I just happened to see this restaurant on the way. I felt a little adventurous or basically, I wanted to try something new. It was noon lunch time. There was only one couple there besides us. The place was small but if you had a large group, you could do it; just come early. I was actually expecting a sit down ala cart kind of menu. I was very surprised it was a buffet and close to my work. We found a seat, went up and saw a pretty good selection of food. Dessert was included. We had water but I don’t think soda or any beverages were included in the price. Everything was good. Nothing was too spicy or too salty. They do serve beer!!! The guy serving us naan(free) or water was friendly and helpful. When we left, the place was packed! Can’t believe it’s been here for two years already and we didn’t try this place! It was a great find for the price, too. Score for us! We will be back!

WOW! I am not too big of a fan of Indian food in Fremont because I felt the quality was really gone done in a lot of places. They tend to over season and over oil everything and it just leaves you feeling heavy and grossed out. The fiancé and our Indian friend came here this past weekend since we saw the great reviews. We got the tandoori special, lamb curry and Aloo ghobi. OMG! It was perfectly seasoned and you can taste the quality and care they put into cooking your food. I really like this place and it makes me love Indian food again. Can’t wait to try their lunch buffet!

Ordered delivery from my hotel while on a business trip, as I am a lover of all foods ethnic, and so I had a hankering for Indian food. The only downside, if I could even call it that since it was totally understandable, was that I had to order a minimum of $ 25 worth of food to get delivery. Now, I don’t have a car here and was too lazy to get a taxi, hence why I chose delivery. However, those who know me know that… I. CAN. EAT. So when you give me $ 25 worth of food, I will eat until I explode, which I did. I ordered the Garlic Naan, which was delicious, although I wished there was more Garlic involved. Minor detail and it could be that I couldn’t taste it since I burned my tongue on the food for being too impatient to wait for it to cool down. It was steaming hot, which was a plus. I also ordered a salad, Chicken Vinaaloo, Samosa Chaat and a small Taj Mahal beer(I told you…$ 25 worth of food). I can handle my food quite spicy, so that’s what I asked for with my Vinaaloo, and they hit it right on the mark. Not only perfectly spicy, but it tasted amazing! The Samosa Chaat was something I had never had before, and if I hadn’t already been full from finishing the Vinaaloo and afraid of having a heart attack from the food sweats, I probably could have eaten it all. The salad was a salad, and I’ll be honest… I had two bites because it was just an order to get me over the $ 25 mark. Oh, and it was also my first time trying Indian beer(Taj Mahal)…it was perfect with my meal! Try this place out! The guy who took my order also delivered my food, and he was super friendly!

If you are craving good home cooked food with minimum oil/butter and artificial flavors — this is the place to go. Don’t be fooled by less customers in the restaurant. The main business the owner get is via food pick up and home delivery. YES — FREEHOMEDELIVERYOFYUMMYHOMEMADEINDIANGOODNESS. Being a working couple we tend to get food delivered from here once every week minimum. Their quality is consistent and we have never been disappointed. We have served their food to our guests on occasion and they all loved it. Note: They are also affordable for catering. We will be hosting a 60+ people party soon with food from Samraat Curry Hut … Thanks Samraat Curry Hut … You made our move to Fremont worth it !

Very good and unique East Indian food. Mutton(goat) masala has great red sauce flavor, but was a bit too chewy, though goat tends to be. Chicken spinach palak was solid, though other places make it a bit better. Lacked more cheese and chicken flavor. Fried tempura(pakora) of veggies w Indian spices was 5 star. Perfect crunchiness and flavor. Wow. Order on EAT24 and get free delivery too! Awesome. Our delivery guy also was the best dressed delivery guy ever. He seriously came to my door looking like he was going to close a million dollar business deal. Will try more delivered on EAT24.

As we’ve already exhausted most Desi options in the area, we’re down to those with just a few reviews. Happily, Samraat easily exceeded our quite low expectations. BUTTERCHICKEN — Chicken cooked with sauce made from butter, tomatoes, almonds and spices. This was just about the most by-the-book butter chicken one could ask for. Nice creamy sauce with subtle spice notes. It wasn’t particularly fascinating, but there were basically no mistakes, though I would have preferred larger, more tender chunks of chicken rather than the slightly dry shreds. LAMBPALAK — Boneless lamb pieces cooked with spinach and onion. Once again, it tasted just like you’d expect it to taste. Nice smooth consistency, hearty leafy flavor, generous chunks of lamb. The lamb was only very slightly tough, whereas I would have preferred the melt-in-your-mouth approach. YELLOWDAL — Yellow lentil cooked on slow fire, seasoned with herbs and spices. This was a nice treat – much more flavorful than standard dal + water. It contained chili, tomato, and subtle spice combinations that really hit the spot. NAAN — Leavened white bread baked in tandoor. Pleasantly soft, warm, and supple. It didn’t have the slightly charred edges or consistency that you get with a real deal tandoor, but it was about as good as it could have been considering. JEERARICE — Aromatic rice cooked with cumin seeds. Pretty standard – nothing out of the ordinary here. GULABJAMUN The owner was kind enough to offer a complimentary sample of gulab jamun. Ironically, this was the only item that we didn’t care for. It was quite standard, but to me gulab jamun is just about the hardest dessert to make properly – it easily ends up tasting pre-made, tough, & sickeningly syrupy, as it did in this case. It wasn’t awful, just representative of why I never order this dessert anywhere. ALLINALL: Very safe Indian cuisine that would appeal to the masses. Virtually no mistakes were made. There was little if anything daring or bold here, but it should fulfill the everyday requirements of most customers. And for that I was satisfied.
