Super 8 Motel Heath/Newark

If I could give this place negative stars, it would be –3. I’ve made some mistakes in hotels/​motels before, but this place takes the cake! Disgusting smell, FILTHY room, stained bedding, «security» doors propped open, sketchy characters hanging around the back of the building, the bed felt like we were laying on empty beer cans, the sheets only covered the «pillow top» portion of the mattress. SMH. In a word? GROSS! I actually went to the store to purchase a can of DISINFECTANT to spray down everything we would touch, before we touched it! I would highly recommend you spend the extra money and stay someplace else.

Let me start by saying that I strongly considered giving this hotel a 5 star review based solely on how much it made me laugh. If we’re judging it from a comedic standpoint, it is pure gold.
But, alas, I refrain from the comedic 5 star review to protect some poor soul who doesn’t bother to actually read the review.
There was a horrible smell of animal and old food in our room on the first day. When we arrived, we were told that our room was ready except for vacuuming. We waited a while and went in but the smell led me to believe that it wasn’t cleaned at all.
We had this room for a few days. Upon our return on the second day, our room had been cleaned, (the smell was gone and the sheets were straightened) but the door was left open due to a faulty door mechanism. I had to go to the local Walmart and purchase WD-​40 to spray in the door so that it would close without being slammed. We left the «Do Not Disturb» sign on the door for the rest of our stay for fear of our room being left open again.

*1 — This is the electric cord to the lamp in my room. The plug has been removed and the exposed wires have been wired directly into the outlet.
*2 — This is the little «welcome» table which houses local menus and whatnot and also, apparently, screws.
*3 — This is the drawer of the bedside nightstand in my room. It seems the previous occupant used it as an ashtray and it was not cleaned up.
*4 — This is the coffee maker in my room, complete with mysterious white gunk.
In closing, I don’t even know if I can justify this one because of the low cost. It was insanely cheap and you get what you pay for and all. I just think this was a bit too much to swallow.
Exposed electric wires?! That’s got to be some kind of fire hazard, right?

This really should deserve 1 star, but God bless a place for letting you rent a room drunk at 1am… and there lies the irony, if it was a good hotel, Im sure no rooms would have been available. Nonetheless, All I really want to say is this place smells super funky. It doesn’t smell like ass, just musty and blahhh. And then, I woke up a hot mess at about 5am bc the room was super hot and stuffy. It was a not so good experience, but at least I wasn’t sleeping in my friends car, or crammed into our others friends room that already had 6 people in it.
