It’s a Dive Bar in Newark, NJ aka«Hood» bar. So, the stereotype/reputation is already a given. I occasionally frequent this bar, because I have family from the area. I never had a problem or any trouble when attending there. Always has been a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere during the week and when the weekend comes they«turn up.» The music selection is a mixture of the latest hip hop music, old school rap/hip hop, club and reggae. The DJ knows how to mix, so that is a plus. The crowd is generally in their 30s, some being older or younger(can say for the most part a mature crowd). It can get pretty crowded in the bar. They serve fried fish that is pretty tasty and offer two bars to b served, so the wait is not long. The bartenders are always friendly. The drinks are cheap and the alcohol is definitely present, those«Get Right» drinks. However, last night I went to celebrate my birthday there and things have changed. Now, this may just be a holiday season procedure, but when you enter the bar actual cops(not to be mistaken for security) that are armed with guns search the women and men. So, that is how tight security is now, not to mention local police riding through frequently. So, if your not intimidated by that it’s a place to come to hang out with the locals.
