I really like this park, it’s never too crowded unless you count the geese. The trail track is awesome and there is so much open space. They are upgrading the park the new children’s playground has lots of cool features. I believe they are building a turf field with another track which gives this place another bright spot. On the outskirts of the park you have some riff raff but it’s not that bad. This is a go to park.

I recently went to Weequahic Park in the South Ward. I remember my boyfriend driving on Elizabeth Avenue and noticing the Weequahic Park. Driving through this urban terrain and then suddenly seeing the park, he was surprised at how lush it looked. Pleasantly surprised. There’s a giant lake first of all. Apparently it’s the largest in Essex County. The lake looks pretty with the fountains and trees surrounding it. The park is also has more hills then other Newark parks. The highest point in the park is Divident Hill where there stands a pavilion from which you can check out some neat views. Then there are a bunch of playgrounds, athletic fields(baseball, basketball, and tennis), and walking paths. Weequahic is a massive park. There’s a lot to see and experience. I don’t think you can cover it all in a day. You may need to visit a few times.

Been coming to this park since I was a kid… ahh so many memories with my daddy and me. Definitely one of my favorites parks in nj and with a beautiful view of the water. Love the upgrades so far… adding flowers, refinishing the track, and adding trail workout stations. In summer there’s always events going on especially fitness classes be held.
