Whimsical Farms

Whimsical Farms sets up a stand at the Cool Springs Farmers Market (Wilmington, DE) between 4 and 8 every Thursday (June — Oct).
I’ve been buying eggs from them. They taste great. The kids love that the eggs come in a variety of colors.

You have to drive through a horrific suburban subdivision to get to Whimsical Farms. They’d get five stars alone for the co-owner’s story of filling the development’s drainage culvert with concrete when it started to flood her property.
I got two nice, plump pastured chickens here. The first cooked very evenly and yielded a terrific broth. The chickens are well cleaned. Bags left inside the cavity with livers, etc. I also picked up a very nice pork shoulder, the first half of which roasted exquisitely. In the land of machine-​made Purdue chickens, disgusting sprawl and tasteless cuisine, it’s a real lifesaver that someone nearby raises animals that actually taste like something.
They’re doing a slaughter in November and pork will be replenished then
