Customer service is horrendous. The hygiene is worse. This used to be a good clean bakery years ago, with efficient friendly employees and owner. But that has changed drastically, so has the name: was Teixeira’s Bakery before. Two key examples of poor service and hygiene: One morning, I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich to-go. The egg in the sandwich was green. I went back to show them and the owner told me the eggs were fine — the green color«is normal when the egg is overcooked». Unacceptable answer. I didn’t eat it. Then, today, for my last time, I returned to the bakery with my sandwich, to tell them they forgot the cheese. The employee snapped at me that there was cheese. She then, after her hands had been cleaning and lifting chairs and placing them on the tables, mangled my sandwich and lifted the bread with her bare hands to show me it did in fact have cheese(it was there, drowned in lots of mayo). I said I no longer wanted THAT sandwich that her unwashed hands had just touched. They wouldn’t make a new one. When I asked for a refund, the owners got very defensive and combative, and said no, because I had already touched the sandwich. Unnacceptable. I don’t recommend this place. There are other bakeries in the same vicinity that are healthier cleaner choices. For one, there is another Teixeira’s Bakery, different owners, on 184 Ferry Street which is better, with a nicer atmosphere, and less than ½ mile away. There is also the Teixeira’s Bakery on Jabez Street, which has delicious custard cups and much better service.

Well, I’ve never been here, BUT, I recently had the pleasure of sampling a few small flaky crusted custard pies and a bite of a muffin — which were phenomenal! Tastes like home cookin!
