This is Newberg’s living room. Great Stumptown coffee, friendly barista’s, and the perfect space to work, chat with friends, read, or be with family.

Different coffee roasters available in drip. Wi-if access. Espresso drinks are consistently good. They have a small selection of pastries(donuts!!!), and health/nutrition bars. The environment is inviting. There are lots of outlets to give your laptop juice. Inviting because there are books! I like their selection, so I must be vibing with their buyer. Spacious. A few nooks. Lots of natural light from floor to ceiling windows at the front of the store. A couple of couches but mostly black café style round and square tables and chairs. I’ve been getting coffee here for 5 years. The baristas/servers get a passing grade on manners, and high marks on coffee making.

The Pumpkin Spice Chai is sometimes worth the unfriendly service. I can’t count the times I’ve patronized this spot and have yet to receive a welcoming hello there. The last several months my drinks have been not-so-good too.

Cut little bookstore catering to the locals, not tourists. Locals come here to work, study and socialize. I don’t know if they have free WiFi(?) but everyone in the sitting area seemed to be in their laptops. I’m not a local(I live in Portland), but I’m also not a «tourist» because I’m in this area a lot. So I really like the vibe of this place. Stopped in today with my mom just browse through the books. And my mom got a latte and said it was«not bad, 3 stars.» My favorite thing about this store is that there’s a lot of seating available, and they have some unique older items.

I love Chapters. I studied there in college, and now I work from there occasionally to get out of the office. The coffee is terrific. Every time it’s consistent, and they are skilled at creating espresso in the traditional Italian style. They don’t have large food selection, so don’t come for lunch. The books they offer seem to stay current with the trends, and while seem a little expensive, who isn’t these days compared to amazon. The baristas take their time here, don’t expect your drink right away. Having managed specialty coffee shops that use the same machine and even coffee, I think they could increase speed of service a little, but I believe they’re more concerned with getting a consistent, superior product out. It just depends on if you have time to wait. Best coffee in Newberg IMO.

I love that I can get a coconut milk Stumptown Hairbender latte. Not every place has coconut milk. Great baristas that are friendly and know their stuff. If there is a book you want, just let them know what it is and they’ll order it for you. It feels good to support small businesses!

Pro: 4 stars is NOT because they offer Stumptown, but because they offer 2 or 3 alternatives to Stumptown as well. One is from a local roaster, another is from Intelligentsia, which is what Stumptown aspires to be. The bookstore is a plus, no one is saying they are a Powell’s, but it is nice to browse through books that are general interest and not just Christian, even though they are Christian owned and operated like the majority of coffee shops in Newberg. Con: They close way too early, giving all the evening business to the Coffee Cottage, which is a good place as well, but it’d be nice to have an alternative, ya know?

Chapters Books is usually my go-to coffee option when I drive through Newberg on the way home from the wine country, since it is in the heart of downtown going the«right direction» when I’m headed towards Portland since the business district is divided on two one-way streets. But, I tend to prefer the atmosphere of some of the other coffee houses in the area. The space seems too big, and therefore underutilized, even though it is both a bookstore and coffee house. The coffee house portion serves upscale coffee drinks with Stumptown beans and they sell bags of beans and related paraphernalia from both Stumptown and Intelligentsia( ). Props for that. I’ve been underwhelmed by the bookstore portion of the business. When a Stumptown craving hits me in this area, I think Red Hills Market in Dundee gets top marks. They also have a small selection of books focused on the wine country and related foodie topics.

They have a great selection of quality books and I drank one of the best cappuccinos I’ve ever had provided by the manliest of all baristas I have encountered. Great comfortable atmosphere as well.

I order Iced Latte every time I go here. The location is great, I can read a book and drink coffee while relaxed. Although the coffee, not the best one I had. Its okay, but definitely not better than good.

Most people love this place, but I’ve never been fond of their coffee/tea, and their book selection is beyond terrible. It’s an okay place to grab coffee and be on your way, as it’s in the heart of «downtown» Newberg, but it’s pretty crowded and noisy inside. Don’t expect to get anything accomplished in here. However, there’s always good live music of Art Walk nights. It’s an alright little shop.

I never thought that I would be one of THOSE people… you know, the coffee snobs. But I am. It happen slowly through for work-related purposes… then I began to avoid other coffee places b/c I’m snooty now. If you want coffee — hello Stumptown — go to Chapters. My addictive go-to drink is a blended skim 1-shot dirty chai(love love LOVE those small icees all smooth in their secret concoction). One time I went twice in a day b/c I love it so much). It you want loose leaf tea, go to Chapters. Tea sits in lovely containers and they have these special contraptions where you pour your own amount into the tea cup and the rest stays hot in a plastic container. Bonus is that you can ask them them for hot water refills. Don’t and I mean don’t be stupid — they will say to not push on the bottom contraption so you don’t get burned but I’ve seen my friends(me…no, not me) listen but then not listen to the master-tea-experts. Pros: — Coffee b/c it’s Stumptown, duh — Teas — Independently owned local shop — love that! They will order any books they don’t have in-stock for you. — Little bookstore and nicknacks — Free wifi — Friendly staff — Ask for a punch card so that you can eventually get a free drink Cons: — No meals, simple bagels & pastries made from another store, not a huge selection — The few outdoor seats they have are on a busy 99W roadway and can be loud with trucks going past — Books are more expensive than other places(but you are supporting a small business) Newberg has a few sit-down coffee shops but they all have a different twist to make each unique. Check them out and decide what you like!

Loved this place! The baristos were completely entertaining and also make a damn good coffee. According to my husband, my order sounds«high-maintenance.» I’ll let you be the judge: Nonfat vanilla latte with half the vanilla normally used. Seems pretty easy to me. The baristos assured me that it wasn’t high maintenance. Good answer. Extra tips for you both. They also had a good selection of both used and new books, and my husband and I carted off two more for our library. I also thought they were reasonably priced, and might have paid more at Powell’s, come to think of it. Will definitely stop here again!

I spent many days after school sitting in chapters doing homework, the staff was always kind and helpful and they serve some excellent coffee drinks. I always looked forward to relaxing here with a chai and doing a little reading. Chapters is very much community based and I am sure that is how they are still in business while other shops have come and gone. It’s hard to make it in downtown Newberg and I give kudos to Chapters for staying true to themselves and providing excellent service.
