Love the burgers! They have a good selection and good prices. They’re good with custom orders too.

The prices are fair and the food is good. The ice cream is delicious and the employees are friendly. The restaurant has that old diner feel and would be perfect if the lighting was a little brighter. They also keep their bathrooms very clean and tidy. Sadly, the service is very spotty. I live near by and go in from time to time and sometimes they can get the food to you at a decent time but usually you will be waiting a while. The last time I went in the place had a few booths of people and my friend and I ordered chicken strips and fries. A little over an hour later they place the food on our table and leave without asking if we had what we needed. They never said anything about the wait. I remember thinking to myself that I could walk home, make some chicken strips and fries from scratch and bring them back before my food came. I was so hungry I ate the whole thing in 5 minutes even though the food had been sitting and was room temperature by the time it got to me. They mean well but the employees are young and inexperienced for the most part. I think this can be fixed with more training or by having a manager present more often.

Stopped in for ice cream. Retro style and a juke box added to the fun feel. I had butter brickle and black licorice which was awesome. I took my 3 kids and the staff was super kind with allowing lots of samples so that they figured out the perfect choice. I’d go back again

Yuck to the Chili burger. Had to be canned chili, and the burger was tough, tasted freezer burned. Fries were like the kind from a grocery store frozen bag. Ice cream selection was just meh.

This is the type of place I really wanted to like as soon as I walked in. I like the ambiance and the retro style, but ultimately I just want good food. Can’t complain about Umpqua ice cream. However, the burger was dry and took way too long to prepare. I’ve been there a few times because I like local joints, but I don’t recommend this to someone looking for a good hamburger meal.

The best cheeseburgers in the northwest. There ice cream is incredible also, I would comment on the other menu items but I haven’t had anything but there burgers. The people of Newburg are so blessed to have Jem100 in their community. I truly can’t recall a better burger! Thanks Jem100!!!

Went on Tuesday for the First time with my Son. I loved it the service was excellent. The ice cream was great and the price was so reasonable. I would definitely come back. Thank you for another great memory with my son.

Paid $ 3 for a 75% empty waffle cone. When I nicely asked if I could pay for a second scoop(so I could have some ice cream with my cone) I was told no because I had already touched the cone. I threw away my cone and walked out. Never again…

Jem 100 is a place I want to like. But the last few times I have gone the service was terrible. We came in at 9pm which is one hour before they close. They couldn’t be more rude. They were already closing up and were audibly annoyed. The ice creams were all covered and half of the refrigerators were empty. As someone who has worked in food service, one of the worse things you can do is start closing early. 5, 10 or even 15 minutes before closing, sure. But an hour is absolutely ridiculous. One of my friends asked for a shake and the server just stared at him and the walked away. One guy was pretty cool and even came over and asked if we needed anything. But the others were either talking to their high school friends or sulking. Another time we came in at 9:30. Before we walked in we could see them staring at us and talking. When I walked in I asked if it was alright and confirmed they closed at 10. The girl actually said«uhhh…like, we are closing» So we left. They lost the service of 6 – 7 of us.

I’m new in town and have been here a few times in the past month. The ice cream quality is good, Umpqua brand, but the service has been mediocre at best. The young ladies working the counter were not particularly welcoming or friendly, and they seemed annoyed that I wanted to sample the ice cream to find a combination that would go well together in my four scoops that I was ordering for friends and I. The girl serving ice cream cut me off at 5 tastes and indicated I could not taste any more flavors and needed to decide– even though I was the only customer at the time and was trying to find complimentary flavors for the multiple scoops. Further insult was her scoop sizes. They were quite small in comparison to other similar establishments and she seemed weirdly concerned about the weight of each scoop. In the time she spent ensuring each scoop was precisely a certain weight, she could have served multiple customers(had there been). I understand that restaurants need to watch the costs, but this is quite a ridiculous practice and/or adherence to policy. Overall, I’d say the establishment is overpriced for the level of service and product offered. If they focus more on providing a more warm and welcoming environment centered on customer service rather than worrying about the weight of ice cream and how many flavors a customer tastes, it may be a more positive experience that encourages customer loyalty and return visits. That being said, customers are equally responsible for not abusing the privilege to taste ice cream before buying. If Jem 100 must limit tastes, it might be worthwhile to politely inform customers that they’re allowed to taste X number of flavors before purchasing.

If you live in Newberg and love hamburgers, Jem 100 is a must for you! They have plenty of different types of burgers and all are amazing! I personally like the double swiss. They do get busy being a ice cream shop in a college town but if you can wait 5 minutes for food you will really enjoy it!

Wow, other reviewers aren’t kidding about weighing your cup/cone of ice cream! There was a huge line behind me and they’re painstakingly, slowly removing about ½ teaspoon of ice cream from my dish to get the right weight. Top that with the fact that they only had enough flavors on hand to fill half their coolers, and what was there wasn’t even correctly labeled, and I’d have to say that next time I’ll be driving a few extra minutes to get ice cream at Baskin Robins in Sherwood.

I’ve been here 3 times. First visit was to get ice cream and it was almost 3 years ago. I don’t remember much from that visit. The last two times I’ve been there was in the last 3 months. I ordered chicken strips and sweet potato fries, and the most recent visit was 2 days ago, I ordered a BBQ burger. I was so disappointed with the quality of food. The chicken strips tasted like they were fried in oil that hasn’t been changed in over a year. They tasted bitter. I thought the fries would taste better, but they were so greasy and honestly didn’t have much flavor to them, I didn’t think you can go wrong with fries, but I was wrong. I expected a little more, being that it is a family run business that has been around for so long, and they have a unique story, I thought it was going to be Newberg’s gem, I was wrong. My most recent visit was the result of being hungry, and I thought I’d give it one more try… oh I was so wrong. I ordered a burger and the meat tasted old and gamey. It first made me think that it underwent a freezer burn. I left the place and had the worst stomach ache afterward. My advice is put a little more love into your food, it can’t possibly cost you that much. There is great potential here however, when you serve hamburger that tastes like it is old, it’s just wrong.

Perfect end to a perfect day. After a hard workout at the Evergreen water park, we stopped in for sundaes. When we walked through the door we were transported back 60 years in time replete with sparkly booths and doo wop music. We enjoyed excellent service, yummy Umpqua ice cream topped with hot fudge, whip cream and nuts. A perfect spot for an old fashioned dessert. We’ll be back to try the banana split!

Its OK. The burgers aren’t that great-they lack cheese… and something else I dont care to keep trying them to figure out. The onion rings are really good and the shakes are awesome but I have yet to be impressed by the burgers.

I’ve been there 3 times, and I REALLY want to love it. It’s been there forever, family run, gives jobs to school/college kids, retro theme attempted, all the stuff you hope for in a local business. But the food to me just seems all very generic of the restaurant supplier frozen variety(especially the flat chicken strips and regular fries). The counter workers are friendly, but each visit has taken forever to receive the order. The ice cream is weighed in front of you which seems very odd to me, as I’ve never ever seen another place do that to save a penny? Would I go back? Yes to support local. 3 Stars for local.

This is a local favorite that provides consistently good service and food. Besides the ice cream they have a great food menu that is classic greasy spoon fare that is filling and delicious. One thing I really appreciate is seeing the owner working there on the front lines almost every time we are there. A Newberg classic!

It was pretty bland, the ice cream is over priced considering they serve Umpqua brand ice cream(pretty cheap). Seriously go to any corner store and pick some up for half the price. I figured okay whatever I’ll give it a second try and have a burger, surely this will be the redeeming quality. nope. It tasted like a cheap freezer burnt burger. I then realized that nothing on the menu is made in house, its just heated there after it comes off a Sysco truck. I’m sorry I wanted this to be my burger place down the street but no. Save some money, go to McDonald’s. You’ll actually get better quality.

First off I had a horrible experience at this place, I called ahead of time to see if they had cotton candy ice cream, the girl I spoke to on the phone told me they absolutely had it. I get there and asked for cotton candy ice cream and she told me they were out. She was completely rude, and it was really irritating that I called to make sure they had it before I drove all the way across town & they didn’t. I am not happy with their service. Won’t be going here anytime soon.
