We came hoping to enjoy the river side view, had to wait 15 minutes to finally get a table which was indoor. In asking for one outside(there were at least 5 tables free) they said the service was too busy and couldn’t provide that. They weren’t very friendly in the manner they conveyed it either. Later I see someone who came after us being given a table outside. When I asked why they’re doing that she said she was able to work it out. On asking why we weren’t given priority she had nothing to say. I canceled my order and walked out. What a grand waste of space in an otherwise beautiful location.

We came here for brunch… the service was terrible and the food was worse! My husband ordered eggs and Rare plus steak… his steak was well done. My vegetable omelet was overcooked and watery-no flavor. The potatoes were greasy and the toast was as hard as a brick! The pancakes were delicious though… if you come for breakfast or brunch, get the pancakes. We had to consistently ask for drink refills. Service was extremely slow!

OK, the Edgewater Grille did a great job with my daughter’s Lego-themed wedding reception. Midwestern charm, good food, and friendly staff at a scenic location(on the banks of the Ohio River) made it a memorable evening. The country music band gave us a polished performance of favorite songs, demonstrating mastery of a large repertoire.

Very nice view on the Ohio river. Good club sandwich and fries. Recommended at least for lunch.

Stopped in for the brick oven pizza. I’ve eaten here a few other times. Never been tremendously impressed it I thought the pizza might changed my mind. I ordered the veggie Balanica. It looked pretty but was tasteless. Not impressed at all. I laid down $ 40 for a simple lunch that’s was not even a tad good. I am pretty sure this is my last visit here.

Have eaten here a few times and every time I tell myself this will be my last. Haven’t ever had their pizza, and won’t have it again. Pizza was very bland, with little flavor. Pizza wasn’t really done… doughy. After being attacked by flys in the dinning room, I really question their cleanliness. If the dinning room looks like this, what does the kitchen look like. The waiter, we’ve had him before… he’s only working with what the owner gives him. My hopes is that this owner has a Unilocal account and takes their average 2.5 stars to heart and makes adjustments to fix it.

Wasn’t a bad experience for my date and I. The service wasn’t really that great but wasn’t bad. Good quality was something similar to olive G. It seemed to me like you only paid for the view.

I’ve dined here several times over the years and always pleased with the quality of the food and the ambiance of the place. Never found it to be dirty or the wait staff to be rude. However, based on the more recent comments here, I would say management has slipped in its training responsibilities. Can’t see that I’ve seen any advertising recently which is another sign the owner has lost interest. I’d anticipate new blood here soon.

Not fantastic that is for sure. Stopped by for lunch and a conference call in the mid afternoon. We were«greeted» by someone eating lunch at a table near the bar. Weird that she didn’t even get up. We chose a table by the windows. The view was beautiful. The server, who could see I was on the phone, talking, and typing on the computer… must have interrupted 4 times to ask if everything was ok… seriously I was talking on the phone. The«steak» sandwich was probably that Steakums nonsense that is the equivalent of Spam or Velveeta. It was awful. It was also so salty and the fries were salty also.

What a shame that a wedding reception is more important than a restaurant patron 04/11/2015 Manager was unavailable to complain to. Nuff said.

Owner and staff amazing. Every time I eat there the food is amazing! The Rigatoni Carbonara is delectable. Pork Tenderloin has an incredible sauce with a savory sauce. I could go on and on. Oh, the Elizabethan Salmon is scrumptious. Must dining experience not to miss.

The Portabella Ambrosia was a delightful appetizer. It was very tasty while watching a barge go by on the river.

The location of this restaurant and its riverside view are likely the best in the entire region. However, the service and food are abysmal. The pizza can sometimes be good and is probably the safest bet. Ranking on service and food alone it would earn merely one star; its saving grace is its location and view. So much unrealized potential here.

Just moved to town and was anxious to check out the local eateries. The week of July 7, I had my chance when I was walking along the riverbank and decided to stop for a quick bite(appetizer) and drink in mid-afternoon. From the outside, the Edgewater Grille looked like a gem: right on the river, abundant outdoor seating, full bar, diverse menu options. When my daughter and I entered, we were promptly greeted by a server who was sitting at a table folding napkins. Note that I said we were greeted — we were not helped or escorted to a seat despite the«please wait to be seated» sign. We proceed to wait… and wait… and wait… until someone else who happened to be walking by asked if we had been helped yet. When we told her we hadn’t, she seated us outside(per our request). She led us to a dirty table, and I requested to sit somewhere else, as the table had not been cleaned. There were 2 other empty tables that still had dirty dishes on them, presumably from lunch. We then waited… and waited… and waited… until a server finally appeared and took our order. There was one other family seated outside who was just finishing up their meal when we arrived. Otherwise, I didn’t see a single other customer. So, we appeared to be the ONLY ones and couldn’t even get prompt service, and there were at least 3 dirty tables. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, and it took over 25 minutes for our chicken tenders to arrive. When it finally came out, the appetizer consisted of three very large pieces of chicken which appeared to be deep-fried. It was more food than we expected for an appetizer, and we weren’t able to finish it. My drink(a bottled beer) was brought out in the bottle. I felt a little uneasy accepting the bottle from the server, as she had been holding the bottle by the neck(close to the mouth). Would have preferred if they had offered me a glass to pour it into. All in all, it took over one hour for us to get 2 drinks(a beer and a lemonade) and one appetizer(chicken tenders) on a weekday afternoon when we appeared to be the only customers in the restaurant. The tables were dirty, and service was unacceptably slow. We’ll put a «been there, done that» check next to the Edgewater Grille, and seek out other establishments that take more pride in their presentation and service. Two stars for the location.

Where to start? Food and drinks overpriced in relation to quality. Slow service. Owner sits at bar and talks to friends while ignoring everything else around her like customers waiting over an hour for their food to come out. There is a reason this place is always empty. So much potential for a place like this on the river and no effort being put in. Sad.

They used to have good food but have gone steadily downhill the past few years. Recently the closed a side street they owned next to a competing restaurant. This blocked parking and limited the ability to navigate the area. Completely dirty move that hurts downtown as a whole.

SO much potential! So little effort. I don’t know what to say about Edgewater other than it was missing some serious mojo. Just walking in we felt it which probably killed the rest of my perspective. We ended up just ordering a couple of drinks and with some calamari while we sat outside on the patio to enjoy the view of the river. The patio is what really makes the place! You can’t get better views… I just wish the restaurant gave a little more! We went with the $ 5 Stella beer special since the drink prices were out of the ordinary high given the area and since our server told us the bartender was out so it could take a while for a mixed drink?! As for the calamari… it was just average. It was well cooked and the batter was light and crunchy like a tempura however it was completely flavorless and the marinara that accompanied it tasted like a doctored up jar of Ragu. Just not impressed at all. Sorry Edgewater… you have some work to do! I will return, however for some more of those views.

It’s about time I write a review about Edgewater. We went here in the fall, but I kept a few mental notes of our experience. We went to Edgewater for a casual afternoon meal with friends who were also visiting. I’ll go ahead and put the positive up front that the location is really nice and that the patio is perfect for a fall evening. We found parking to be difficult with so many rules about where parking was and wasn’t allowed. I was actually nervous almost our entire meal that we may have been in a spot that could theoretically be in a tow zone. Too hard to tell with all the signs and rules. Service was all over the place when we went, lots of confusion about what tables were open and where our group of 7 could sit. I am glad it was sorted out and we were able to get a coveted table outside. We had heard many good things about the brick oven pizza, so everyone at the table ordered with that in mind. A while after ordering(~10 minutes), our server came back frantically telling us that there was no more pizza dough and we started the process of reordering. We had been very hungry and I’m glad we had ordered appetizers, including a very good artichoke dip/fondue. After reordering different meals, our server once again came back to tell us that they had found more dough and could make our original orders. This confusion was frustrating and caused our order to take much longer time to finally receive. We didn’t notice it as much as we could of since the view of the river had us all very relaxed. Anyway, the food ended up being pretty good and I would love to give the pizza another try at some point. However, given the many other options in Newburgh along the water, it may be a while before I give Edgewater another chance.

I can’t even give this smelly, dirty, dark and dank river hole a star. Backed up bathroom… Not clean at all. We walked out and were chased down by the crazy manager who insulted our 81 year old mother/grandmother, totally bad experience.
