This optical is the best!!! If you’re looking to be treated as a person and receive exceptional education about frames, lenses, and anything optical related this is the place to go. The optician does not try to sell you but educates you on the latest lens options available that works for your best vision possible and your wallet. In addition, they have the BEST selections of frames I’ve ever encountered. Every time I stop in or have been there, they have new frames to look at, a wide variety in shapes, styles and colors. The staff is extremely professional and helpful too! I was greeted warmly by the staff and was assisted in making my selections for eyewear. They also staff a wonderful optometrist that has helped in giving me my best vision to date. She was very personable and showed me the differences between what I was wearing and my new prescription. She also fit Me for contact lenses, which I had better vision and comfort than before.(My last fitting for contacts with a different Doctor wasn’t as success). So I was very happy with that. They are also very affordable. I will definitely be returning! Overall I had an amazing experience and I can’t wait to tell everyone I know to go here. Highly recommended!!! Definitely go check them out.

Very shifty, unprofessional owner — she’s extremely judgmental and changes«policies/procedures» at will depending on her own personal opinion of a client and(in my case) incorrect assumptions(financial and otherwise). Nothing was posted about alleged«judgement calls» and her phony behavior(tried to act like my best friend who says she is, while patting my arm, just looking out for my best interest) were nauseating, especially since I heard her talking negatively about me before her little performance. The only reason I gave this business more than 1 star is because the receptionist was professional and handled my complaint with respect, the 2 eye doctors that I saw were excellent and, once I pointed out that her business practices were unethical and fraudulent and I was considering seeking legal action for a refund, I did receive(thru the mail a week later), my exam fee back in full. BEWARE: I called for information about contacts, was given prices, etc., made an appointment and arrived for my exam. I paid my eye exam fee, had my eye exam and trial contacts were ordered for me but, unfortunately, when I went back to try them on, they were ill fitting. Another exam was conducted by a 2nd eye doctor(who was there that day) and she opted to order several other options for me in regards to price range, astigmatism needs, different strengths, dailies vs long term wear, types of lenses, etc. to see what worked best for me as I am not a daily contact lens wearer and have lots of eye/vision issues. During this(2nd) appointment, she also fitted me in a different type of trial lens, which fit beautifully, the vision was great and they could be ordered in a much lesser quantity, which was perfect me as I don’t wear them every day. I was instructed by the eye doctor to wear them, see how they fit and have them in my eyes for at least 4 hours when I come back to try the others on so she can see the fit, etc. in case those were the ones I decided to purchase. THEN, as I was checking out with the receptionist, the owner rushed over and(stating a new policy AND claiming to have«just glanced over my file») decided that I could not leave with the«trials» — I was informed that now I was required to pay an extra fitting fee(apparently if you need more than 1 fitting there is an additional $ 25.00 fitting fee per fitting!), which was not posted anywhere(I looked around after being told this) or mentioned when you are quoted the exam price and that was not mentioned during my first visit) and then I was told that I also had to leave a hefty deposit for half of the cost(which the owner based on her highest priced contact lenses!!) to guarantee a FUTURE sale of contacts(I was told it was«money in the bank for later») just in case I didn’t intend to actually purchase anything and leave with only the«free» trials”. At this time, the new trials I was waiting to try had NOTEVENBEENORDERED, much less tried on or checked to see if they were a fit — she wanted me to pay upfront for a future purchase of contacts — when we didn’t even now yet which ones that we were ordering as trials were going to work for me. AND I WASNOTALLOWEDTOTAKETHETRIALS with me(which are included in the contact exam package I had already paid in full for) unless I paid all these extra fees/costs that day, which I refused to do and, when I voiced my concerns over her business practices and unadvertised«policies», I was condescendingly told she would«keep my trials safe for me in case I changed my mind». Now, she cannot use them on anyone else, they are disposable trial lenses — is she THAT cheap and devious that she was holding them captive until she gets more money out of me? I left frustrated, feeling deceived and annoyed — I called a week later to complain, give my intentions and request the refund. The receptionist called me back, offered to order my trials as agreed and move forward since I had already paid for my exam and started the process or she could give my refund; I asked her to order the trials. I then received another call and was told that none of the options the doctor ordered were available and a refund would be given — SERIOUSLY? Clearly the owner did not want to work with me. The whole point of «trials» is to be able to wear them to see if you have good vision, if they sit properly on the eye, etc. and then you go back to have them checked by the eye doctor before you purchase a supply of them to make sure you can wear them safely and comfortably — how could I do that if I wasn’t allowed to take them with me? At no time prior to my eye exam or during the first visit was I advised that UNLESS I agreed to pay the(non posted) fees or guarantee her an expensive FUTURE sale I was not allowed to leave with what I had already paid for up to that point. My guess is because she makes up the rules as she goes along — very bad business — Be very careful and protect yourself if you choose to go here.

I have several eye surgeries which required frequent prescription changes in my glasses. New York Eyewear has been so helpful and affordable. Thank you!
