I know nothing of Peruvian food and dont speak Spanish so dint know what to expect but this is close to my office so I decided to try. The menu had all the items in Spanish with also a huge picture and an English description. I just pointed to a picture and the food came and it was awesome. Who knew I liked Peruvian food?

This place has great ceviche and a lot of options. It’s a lot more affordable than Macchu Piccu down the street. They are open for breakfast but I haven’t tried it yet. They also have lunch specials with rotisserie chicken and sandwiches for around 6 bucks I had the ceviche mixto which was excellent. Has shrimp, fish, crab, mussels, octopus, sweet potato, corn, and onions.

I moved to NY last year from the Midwest. Being originally from Peru, and having lived in a place where people assume all Spanish-speaking immigrants eat tacos, it was refreshing to find not one, not two, but THREE Peruvian restaurants within 5 minutes to my office. There is the venerable Machu Picchu, Don Fernando and Peruvian Flavor. Each of those three restaurants has a specialty in which they excel, but my favorite is Peruvian Flavor. Yes, it is a hole in the wall, it is across the street from a gas station, next to a suspicious beauty salon that offers permanent make up, but the food is excellent and the portions usually feed two people. My favorites are chupe de pescado(usually a Friday special, part of the incredibly cheap fixed menu), I have been known to take this home and try to pass it as one of my creations(almost succeeded), choritos a la chalaca and lomo saltado. Sadly, Peruvian Flavor does not serve alcohol and the chicha morada is the bottled kind, which is awful. The service is very pleasant and quick and it is very inexpensive.
