Wowww I really wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, and the only reason they received a star from me is because Unilocal forced me in order to post review :’-(Why Unilocal!!!Even if you’re a little tipsy and it’s 2 am and you think there’s no other place to go, just please remember McDonald’s and the diner are ALWAYS open… My fiancé and I both ordered burritos and my son had a chicken empanada, the beans in the burrito weren’t fully cooked and the bean cream was so watery that it made the flour tortilla extremely soggy and difficult to eat because it just fell apart. On the other hand my son’s empanada had frost bite on it from being in the freezer and not made fresh, which is something you wouldn’t expect from a business in such a premium location. Finally when we spoke to the owner about our concerns he looked at my fiancé and asked, «have you ever had a burrito before?» We’re guessing he asked her the question and not me because she doesn’t look Hispanic, but she swiftly replied in spanish, «Yes I have, matter of fact I worked at Café Maya and you should go there and try a real burrito.» After all burritos are from Mexican heritage not Puerto Rican, let’s stick to what we know folks…

Great place. Let me paint you a picture. 9pm on a Saturday. Just left the bar. You’ve had a few drinks. You’re starving and need something to hit the spot. You see a flashing sign in the distance. You approach it and find Taco Ticos. You order a Supreme Burrito and get extra hot sauce. The friendly people behind the counter whip it up for you and hand it to you. You eat it. You love it. You’re happy. You’ll want it again. Moral of this story? Eat at Taco Ticos. You’ll love it.

We were driving by when my husband’s brother suggested stopping by this taco joint. I have had my share of tacos and needless to say this spot was less than par. Ordered a basic beef and chicken taco. Couldn’t tell which was beef or chicken. The seasoning on either meats were ehhh. The sautéed onions on top belong on hot dogs, not tacos. The gentleman at the counter was very polite and very helpful. All in all, Ticos Taco is a one time try, not a return visit kind of place.

I’ve never had the food truck version of this place, but the hype alone has always made me want to try it. When I heard that they opened a spot on the Newburgh waterfront, I figured this was as good as any reason to go! Swung by on a Thursday afternoon during my lunch break at work, and after a quick glance at the menu decided to go for the burrito supreme(beef, or chicken with rice, beans, lettuce and sour cream). Now this wasn’t the most creative burrito(there was no guacamole, onions or other add on options available) but it truly was delicious. The taste made up for that, and everything was fresh. The ground beef was cooked well and nicely seasoned, and the burrito held up without needing a fork/knife(always a plus!). So I was definitely not disappointed. For the price of the burrito(just under $ 7) I feel that they should have included chips, and I wouldn’t mind an option to add guac. But overall I was satisfied and would definitely make a return trip. Other menu items include soft or hardshell tacos, Fajitas, nachos, Taco salads, etc. There is indoor and outdoor seating available or you can always grab your stuff at the walk up window and take off. I’ll be back to try more
