I have visited DD on a handful of occasions, hoping the service will not tick me off each time. Unfortunately a handful of awful employees make this restraunt not worth going to. One experience there, the owners wife greeted us at the door. She told us we would be seated at a booth. When we informed her we wanted to sit at the bar she looked at my 3 other companions and said they could but I couldn’t because she didn’t think I was 21. She singled me out, not asking but telling me my age. I am 23 and old enough to drink. After informing her of this she told us that we all better have ids. The next visit we had the bartender, I believe her name is Wendy, started arguing with a coworker over something right in front of us. When we asked for refills the response was«when I get to it». She got to it in about 25 minutes. Wendy ignored us and other guest much of the night then when guest she new walked in, they were greeted with a beer and prompt service. Another visit we had the waitress rush us out and made us feel as if we were intruding on her. When asked her refills it was granted with a grunt. It is unfortunate because all the younger staff are so friendly and out going and constantly are picking up the slack. The food is really good(minus the seafood). What made me write this review is 2 different people today asked how my experience was and before I answered they stated«I find the food to be good but the service sucks». And that is exactly what I say when people ask my opinion.

Went here around 10:30 on a Saturday night. They had some live music going, but the band was a cliché at best. We were not allowed to sit in the dining room, because it was«closed» so they said they could maybeeeeee get us a seat on the deck(which turned out to be almost entirely empty.) While the guy who sat us was just short of pleasant, our waitress was very nice and accommodating. She brought us waters, took our drink orders, checked on us periodically and didn’t rush us at all. The boneless chicken wings were realllllly good here! We got 10 with BBQ and 10 with buffalo and the BBQ was amazing. They looked different, but I guess that would be because they’re REAL chicken! haha Hand cut and breaded and delicious. We almost stopped on our way home to order some to-go! I would definitely go here again, maybe a little earlier to avoid the extremely loud live music.

Really bad service and attitude, we were in a hurry and asked to order first thing. Waitress said she’d get to us when she got to us.

Service was friendly and we were seated right away and drinks came quickly. Unfortunately food was extremely mediocre, I don’t understand why others have mentioned the food being good. I had shrimp scampi and it was heavy, overly lemony and overly artichoke-y that I could barely eat it despite being hungry. My daughter who loves all things pasta and seafood wouldn’t touch it after the first bite, and she has a pretty sophisticated palate. The french fries were seriously like limp thick worms. My husband’s scallops were bland. My son hated his pasta sauce. The only thing that was pretty good was the seafood/corn chowder. We all left rather hungry.

Just also opened up the road. Definitely worth giving it a miss. OMG. I will never go here again. Arrived at 8, didn’t order food till 8:20. Didn’t GET food till 9:10, and when it arrived it was definitely not worth the wait. Had to ask the waitress 4 times for water. When the food never came we asked if maybe they had some bread and were told they didn’t do that either. When we asked how much longer it would be the owner came out and berated us, saying that we had«only» been waiting 45 minutes. … I had ordered a salad! Seriously?! We’re they growing the lettuce fresh to order?! My companion had ordered a steak. When it came it was fit only for consumption by our golden retriever, and that only because she is not picky even by dog standards. My daughters pasta looked edible but by the time it came she was too tired to eat. They just changed ownership and at this rate I suspect it will change ownership again soon. Until then, we will not be back. TOTALLYAGREEWITHKEVIN S. I suspect the good reviews posted were planted by the owner Bob O’s comment below is misleading. Other review was for a restaurant I visited 6m ago and drafted on my iPhone. Anyone with the iPhone app knows u have to go to the full site to finalize. However, last night I ate across the street in the restaurant in the Mountain Lodge. WORLDS better. If u want a good dimmer in a reasonable time with good service I suggest you cross the street, even if u r staying at the Best Western Sunapee like we were. I would write a great review for that place, but they r not on Unilocal

We were excited to try Double Diamond Café last night for a double birthday dinner. I called two days before to make a reservation for 8 people for 6pm — even saying it was for a double birthday celebration, the woman confirmed the name, date, and time back to me and even asked for my phone number. When we arrived we were told that there was no reservation under our name and that we would have to wait over 40 minutes and then they MIGHT be able to fit us in. I explained that I had called, and we did have a reservation and that we actually only had 6 people, not 8 as two couldn’t make it. We were left in the corner to wait, with no one really seeming to be concerned that we were inconvenienced by the loss of our reservation. After 20 minutes of waiting with no communication on what they were doing to find a table for us due to the error on their part, we decided to leave and go elsewhere. We told the woman at the front of the house we were leaving and it didn’t seem to matter that they lost our business, they never even really apologized for their error. Mistakes happen, but I would have expected more effort to be made to get us a table when we called days in advance to make a reservation. Even worse, they seemed happy that we were walking out the door — for a new business in that building you would have thought that they would have done something to make sure we came back; actually finding us a table, offering for us to come back with a discount, something. Very disappointed with the poor customer service, while they were packed with the ski crowd, during the low tourist times, it’s us locals who would be walking through the doors. Instead, we were left out in the cold to find somewhere else last minute to celebrate our birthdays.

Went to the café for Lunch, was ok, just felt like another business doing what everyone else is doing. Was hoping for something a little different, something to separate them from the other restaurants in town. Food was good, staff was friendly and nice, but slow. I liked the beer selection. We had wings for an appetizer and burgers mostly. Nothing gourmet or home-made about it, mostly pub food. Nice location though and while staying at the Best Western it was convenient. Would probably recommend for a drinking crowd, not an eating crowd.

My family had breakfast and we were all amazed by how wonderful everything tasted. It was great food with an extremely friendly and personable staff.

DD is awesome. The staff is what makes it so great. Olive Garden has that slogan«when you’re here, you’re family», but DD takes that to another level. You really do feel like you are at someones house enjoying a meal. Everyone is friendly and happy to have you around. Let me give you an example… I came in one night and casually mentioned I was craving shepherds pie. Ashley offered to make it for me, even though it wasn’t on the menu. I get it isn’t the hardest dish to make, but just that they would be willing to prepare a meal for me is beyond cool. The food is awesome too. I haven’t tried everything yet, but what I have tried is most excellent. Breakfast is so good, I can’t say enough about it. The corned beef hash is delicious. The toast is good too. Yeah, I know… toast. But come on, we’ve all been to places that give you half cooked pieces of bread with a little dab of butter. At DD, you get real pieces of bread, toasted properly, and buttered just right. That is a big deal to me. Dinner…the meatloaf is amazing. The burgers are huge, so be careful when you order one. The onion rings… excellent as well. Is there something bad at DD? Yes, having to leave when you finish eating. I ran out of time and didn’t even mention the pizza. If you like thin crust pizza, you will be in heaven here. The cheese is super good, not the cheap stuff you get in bulk. Just try it, you’ll won’t be sorry.

This place is incredible. I came up to NH for a long weekend, went here on the first day for breakfast, and ate nowhere else the rest of the trip. The vegetarian benedict and the pizza have to be my favorite. They get locally-made fresh English muffins(I always hated English muffins, but these are incredible), homemade hollandaise sauce, and perfectly-poached eggs. I figured they’d just be a breakfast place, but we tried them out for pizza and WOW! My family is Italian and we went crazy for this stuff. You can taste a little smokiness in the crust from the wood-fired brick oven, perfect blend of cheeses and a light sauce that is just enough to balance everything else. Plus, the portions are so huge that any meal we had there turned into 2 meals. It makes me wish I lived closer than Boston. The ONLY downside is that they take a long time(mostly because they make everything the right way). In my opinion, they are well worth the wait.

Great experience in total. We sat on the back patio — nice shade. Comfortable. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was great! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. The fries were lacking salt, but thats an easy fix. Their spinach/artichoke dip was tasty. The kids menu PBJ sandwich was about the same size as our 3 year old’s head… he had the other half for dinner. We would go again. Its worth a stop if you are in the area.

New ownership has revamped this coffee shop style breakfast/lunch joint. Very good breakfasts, still homemade corned beef hash(by a real Irishman). Went here almost daily on my recent business trip. Could see it as a great stop for pre-ski breakfasts.

We went here on New Years day with a group of 8. We were seated in about 15 minutes which is impressive considering the size of our group vs the size of this restaurant. The menu is extensive with choices for everyone. I got the irish eggs benedict and my fiancé got the regular eggs benedict and we split it. Others in our group got egg sandwiches, omlettes, pancakes, french toast and so on… Let me first say every dish was well recieved and the homefries are the best I’ve ever had. They tasted like bacon! Also, the bacon was thick and delicious. The irish eggs benedict(hash instead of canadian bacon) was amazing! The regular eggs benedict was good too. Even the coffee was tasty. For 8 of us including full breakfast and coffee and juice the total billl came to just under $ 70, for 8 people! Prices were great, food was great and the service was good. We tried to go somewhere else that was our regular spot but they were closed on new year’s day and now we have a new regular spot!
