Good burgers with a great selection of optional toppings. For me, the toppingss are what makes this place amazing. Aside from there signature burgers, you can add just about anything you want to your burgers. The list of toppings include: a fried egg, avocado, blue cheese, american cheese, cheddar cheese, pepper jack cheese, spicy aioli sauce, sriracha sauce, bacon, caramelized onions and more!(*burgers are a bit smaller than average, but still a good bite!) They also have a great selection of fries(also served with a variety of different toppings). They serve alcoholic beverages and unique juices. My personal favorite is the mint cucumber lemonade –DE-LI-CIOUS! Last but not least, the free cookie!

This could very well be my favorite burger joint in the state. Really. It’s unassuming inside, as Lexie’s looked like a former bar. The restaurant is small and it’s popular with the kid crowd during lunch. I can imagine this place to be really cramped and maybe take-out is the best option. The What’s Up Doc special was amazing. The burger wasn’t too greasy but had a juicy flavor to every bite. Plus it was the right amount of savoriness to it. The bun held up throughout the meal. The cheese was melted nicely, with a nice texture to the good amount of bacon inside. The chimichurri sauce was a hit and the caramelized onions were a bit sweet. Lastly, the sriacha aioli provided a little kick to the flavor profile. The combination of all the ingredients presented a well-orchestrated symphony and everything tasted fresh. The only kinda douche-y thing was that I wanted that sriacha aioli instead of bbq sauce and got charged extra, even though I didn’t ask for an add-on, just a substitute. Didn’t see(nor told) substitutions being charged extra. The truffle fries were crisp and well-fried. There was a good amount of truffle-fry flavor to it. I liked the size to them as well. They weren’t matchstick thin but not thick either. The only gripe was that fries were a bit too salty. Prices are really reasonable here and having add-ons won’t kill you, budget-wise. Having the mini chocolate chip cookie was a nice touch. Service was generally good. It’s a haul for me to get here but I have to do it again.

Craving a burger I decided to try this place while on my lunch break. Service was excellent, I had a very tentative waiter. My order was a 4oz blue cheese burger, lettuce, and the sriracha sauce with their bistro fries. The toppings and selection was perfect. Not too many items but just enough to get the creative juices going. Order came fast and tasted pretty great with the Allagash white beer I got. Burger was cooked well done which had I realized the waiter never asked how I would of like the cook on the burger I would have gone medium, medium/rare. So not sure if they do burgers normally one way or not but check. Thought the burger was under seasoned but the sauce and blue cheese helped it along. Bottom line: great vibe, great menu, great service, small technical problem with burger but fries were excellent. Would and will totally go back.

Maybe I went on an off day, but I was less than thrilled with my experience. To give them credit, the place was full, but that doesn’t take much. It’s pretty tiny. I ordered two burgers, an order of bistro fries and two cans of Coke to go. I was told it would be 10 – 15 minutes. Sure, no problem. It’s a nice-ish day. I can wait outside where I won’t feel so claustrophobic. Hm. More like 25 – 30 minutes. When I finally got my food, the fries were not warm and the patties were dry. I had ordered a burger with avocado, cheese and chimichurri. When I opened the wrapper I thought, «Wow! This is going to be a sloppy mess!» Typically, I find the sloppier the burger, the more delicious it is. To my dismay, the ingredients added little flavor. It was actually quite bland. I will say, despite the cool temperature of the fries, they were quite tasty and the bun was soft and fluffy. I’ve been to the Portsmouth location and loved it! I won’t say I’ll never be back, but I don’t know that I’ll make a special trip out of my way to hit up the Newburyport location on my way home from Boston next time.

Great place for a quick, reasonable and delicious burger and fries! The burger was everything I could have ever imagined, skinny string fries were delicious and the fried pickles were on special were so worth it! Just moved to town and we will become regulars.

Love their burgers, great flavors on a nice thin patty. Their truffle fries were amazing, I couldn’t have liked them more. Thin crispy fries with a great taste and flavor. A VERY small little restaurant with limited space, so don’t be in a rush or get their before busy times.

Small burger joint with in my opinion the best burger around– Fresh, reasonably priced, good combination options. The menu always has something worth trying. I prefer larger cut fries but thats a small quibble.

Lexie’s is a great place to stop for a great shake, burger and fry. My fav is the Instant classic burger, order of hot fries and a coffee shake. Sometimes when I am downtown and just want a casual bite to eat this is my placeto go.

Let me start with this, I LOVELEXIE’S! They are super cheap, and the food is amazing. Literally anything you get will be great and I can say that confidently because we’ve tried it all. Service is super fast, and they burgers don’t make you feel like a pregnant sow afterwards.

Best bang for your buck in Newburyport. The burgers are all very tasty and it’s affordable. The restaurant itself is super small but still worth being cramped.

How do you make a hamburger smile? Pickle it gently! There are three reasons why I like going to Lexie’s on State: 1. It’s inexpensive. 2. It’s quick. 3. The burgers don’t make me feel gross afterwards.

This past weekend we went to Newburport for a day trip and needed a great place for food and this was recommended to us. I am not even typically a burger and fries fan and it was GREAT. You can do some of their specialty burgers(or even grilled cheese), fish tacos, or build your own entrée. We had to wait 20 minutes to be seated because it’s a small place, but it was worth the wait. Each server has an ipad so that orders immediately go to the kitchen. It sped up our order which was appreciated. Their house shake was one of the best shakes I have had recently and my husband enjoyed that there was a local beer selection with option in the can or on tap. It was a great place for the kids because it was a noisy atmosphere, had high chairs, and bench seating. I had a burger with a fried egg, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado. Husband got one of their specialty burgers and loaded french fries. Our toddler got a burger with an egg on it and she was thrilled. All of our food was SO good.

This location is just as good as the Portsmouth location. They are equally as small inside, but worth the wait. The menu is slightly different than the Portsmouth location but the staples(burgers and fries) remain the same. I’ve only tried the veggie burger(with a variety of toppings) and I’m a big fan. This is a great spot if you are in downtown Newburyport and want to grab a quick bite to eat that is really inexpensive and casual. I wish that they would open a Portland, ME location! But for now, I will visit them in Portsmouth and Newburyport!

Went today with my Gf. A tiny place with a counter to sit and maybe 10 tables. The burgers are small but they are priced right. We got the hot fries and asked for the aioli on the side. It came out perfect. We got a couple burgers. I ordered mine Med rare. it came out well done! It had good flavor though. It’s a strange place where the kitchen is above the dining area. Also the only bathroom is upstairs some very narrow stairs.

Absolutely love their Portsmouth location, but I like this one even more! My only real complaint about the Portsmouth location was how dark it was inside — not the most inviting place. Despite being very small inside, Lexie’s on State is bright in both its décor and character. But Lexie’s is one of those locations where the«joint» itself doesn’t matter, because the food is that darn good — they can do no wrong. The burgers, although small are priced right at $ 5 – 6 a piece and have the juiciest patties cooked to perfection. The price encourages you try more than one, or they give you the option to double your patties. I’d rather have two burgers, though, because it means I can mix and match different topping combinations from their inventive menu. And seriously, the fries! For $ 2.25 you can get a hefty order or perfectly fried and crisp French fries doused in house-made aioli and herbs. I recently had the sriracha aioli and ketchup fries topped with jalapeño and scallions and I can’t say I’ve ever had a better tasting batch of fries anywhere else before. And I don’t even really like French fries that much! We left for under $ 30 with a tip, three burgers, and two orders of fries. Best possible value for something so delicious. This place is as close to perfection as you can possibly get. Love.

We each ordered a different burger protein type — regular, cluck(chicken) and beanie(vegetarian). We were all happy campers. Farmhouse burger — loaded with tons of topping — bacon, avocado, fried egg, ect… this burger definitely hit all the high notes for my hubby Burning the house(cluck) — love this combo — pepperjack cheese, chipotle sauce and jalapenos. gave my mouth a good kick. the ground chicken patty was meaty, moist and flavorful. Build your own beanie(vegetarian) — traditional — lettuce, tomato and pickles. the black bean patty was tasty and filling. Truffle fries — shoestrings, not overly truffled flavor but very salty. we can skip this the next time. Overall, everyone was pleased with their burgers. Service was quick and friendly. At the end of the meal — the server brought us mini cookies as a treat. That was a sweet ending to our lunch.

What an awesome burger joint. The service was friendly, its normally crowded(for a good reason), and the burgers are delicious. I got the ‘Burn down the house’ burger, which had spicy aioli sauce and jalapeño slices, it was very tasty and well done. Perfectly buttered buns with great spicy flavors. We also got spicy fries(spicy aioli and srachia sauce) and truffle fries, they were absolutely delicious and well worth $ 4.25. We also had the chance to try their fried pickles(friday only) and it was also really good with the sauce that it came with. A very solid burger joint and I’m glad to have trusted Unilocal since its the most highly rated restaurant in the area!
