I visited Newburyport this week on vacation. I wanted to go in this store because it looked cute. I entered the store with my sister-in-law(13 years old) and my mother-in-law. I will NEVER go to this store ever again for the simple fact that an employee followed us around the store. How uncomfortable! Is this how you treat people?! You should be ashamed of this and I will never give any store that acts like this my money. So tacky! I did like a few things but was so put off by this that I had to leave.

One of the coolest and certainly the best smelling store in downtown Newburyport, Soak is a fantastic store featuring all your personal bath and grooming needs, made quite easy to be gifted in a basket or collection. The staff is great and graciously donated a large soap basket to one of our theater fundraisers. Have fun browsing and sniffing the products in this unique shop.

Great, quality products; sweet and relaxing atmosphere, good people and reasonable prices in a picturesque community! Wonderful place!

Tough store to deal with. Tried to return a Christmas present and was told I would have to take 15% off. My husband went back in with the receipt and was told no returns when the owner wasn’t’t there. Thankfully, AMEX reversed the charge. Too bad, I always spent a good amount in there on hand creams, soaps and bath rugs. Not a nice owner to do business with.

I visited Soak five years ago when last visiting Newbury Port and loved it. Talked to the owner, bought some soaps, definitely planned to return the next time I visited the area. I’m here today and literally was just in the store. Things were… Meh. The best part of my experience today, though? Squatting down to look at a foot lotion on a bottom shelf and being immediately pegged as a shoplifter. I was not planning to steal — and was actually planning to purchase some lotion — but nothing turns one off faster than being followed around a store by a teenager who obviously thinks you’re shoving their product in your pockets. Rude. I wasn’t going to share/rate until I saw another review of a person who had a similar experience. Don’t look at products that aren’t at eye level!

I found a cute card in the store that I wanted to buy, and needed 2 of them. They only had 1, but I was assured that they could ask the creator of the card for more, and«it would only take 2 days max». They said they would call me when it arrived. 6 days later, I called them and no one knew what was going on. After 2 phone calls, the owner finally called me back and said that she couldn’t get in touch with the creator(would have been nice if I got an update on that). She said she would call me when she got a hold of her. 7 days later, I called again. Whoever picked up the phone said«oh yeah, they are here»(as if I asked something stupid). I couldn’t stand the thought of facing these people, so I sent someone else in to the store to pick up the card. Then there was«confusion on how many I wanted». Seriously? I won’t ever go back, and I would recommend the same to everyone else.

I have no particular attachment to this place, but on a daytrip with the princess, she lost her shit over it. Coolest little collections of highline soaps, shaving materials(that’s right, for the men’s), and candles. Not as nauseating as a yankee candle, and they had a little something to draw my attention while the wife rifled through looking for unique hygiene related gifts.

Cutesy little store selling mostly soap. You know that glycerin soap you see for sale everywhere with the deisgns in them? Well this place sells them all. Some overpriced robes, towels, and the like can be found here. Nice to browse.

Used to love this place, but new owners aren’t nearly as friendly and their choice in product is on the cheesier side. I’ll go elsewhere for the stuff I used to go to Soak for. Anything to avoid attitude, seriously, this is Newburyport, not New Canaan.

What an amazing store! It is full of original, interesting and gorgeous-smelling soaps that make the most unique and personalized gifts ever! Every time I visit Newburyport I make a beeline for this place, just to ‘soak’ in the ambience. They also sell wonderful ‘cozy chic’ hoodies and robes that are made of the softest, most luxurious fabrics in the world — again, *perfect* gifts(for yourself and others!). Importantly, the staff are extremely knowledgeable and flexible which I find rare nowadays. The owner(Dianne) is a gem: goes out of her way to help and was extremely generous to me with regards a return. One of the best stores I’ve visited in a very long time!

I must say this is one wickid pissah bath shop(That means wickid awesome for those of you who are new to newburyport or new england) It has a huge variety of soaps you can sample with various scents, and other items as well includng a variety of other gift items. It makes for a great experience. Not to mention the staff is friendly and surprise, knowledgeable. Not often you find knowledgeable sales staff at a local department store or mall store anymore. This is more of a hometown store… and a neighorhood feel too it. It makes for a great shopping experience! Also have gift ceritificates. Guys listen up here. this makes for a great holiday gift for your special girl! :)

Soak is a great little shop in downtown Newburyport with loads of different kids of soap and other such things. I bought some super nice moisturizer and some local soap here as gifts, and they were very well received. The girl behind the counter was nice as can be. For such a little shop they have great variety.

Every scent of soap imaginable is sold here! Makes for great gifts. They cut the soap block for you. They also sell essential oils and face products, I believe.
