One of the best things about living in a small town is that there are businesses like Handy’s where you can stop in, have a conversation with a friend(not just some random employee that takes your money) and start your day with a smile. Sometimes I can find gas a little less expensive in town, or they may not stock an item I am looking for, but the people who work here definitely make it an anticipated part of my daily trek to the office. Spina, Sam, Alicia, Jose, and Toni(and the very nice lady that works in the morning whose name escapes me!) are all very nice, genuinely kind and caring folks. I had lived in okc my entire life until I moved to Newcastle, and I finally understand the phrase«small town charm.» in the City, you get what you want and you get out, but here you get a kind word, or an inquiry about something that is happening in your life, or maybe even catch a little gossip about what is happening in town. Heck, I even found a sad little wounded pup wandering around their parking lot(someone had shot him with a shotgun) and they assisted in the fund raising to get him healthy again! If you live in Newcastle or come through from Blanchard on your commute and this isn’t your regular stop, you are missing out!
