Lake’s Nursery

The Lakes Nursery web site boasts that it has the largest selection of Japanese maples in Northern CA. Boy, they weren’t kidding. My husband and I made the trek up to Newcastle in search of a specific cultivar that we had read about, but were unable to locate in the Berkeley area. We found it, plus so much more! Instead of buying 2 – 3 trees, we ended up with 6.
Laurie and Joe were so friendly, and very knowledgeable even on some of the more obscure varieties that we had never seen or heard of before. Great advice, and amazing prices. Definitely worth the trip. We will be back!

They have an amazing selection of Japanese Maple We purchased one in the fall. One of the staff took the time to walk the entire grounds with us, showing us her «favorites», and pointing out the sun tolerant varieties. We selected one of their largest trees, and they had it planted at our home within 2 weeks. It looks fantastic this spring. We’re looking for another tree now. Lake’s is where we’ll buy it.

When it comes to Japanese Maple, all other nurseries don’t hold a candle to Lake’s Nursery. Great prices, huge selection and the staff excellent. I discovered them last year when I did my backyard (ok, the wife discovered them). Joe, Faye, Laurie and Jorge were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful last year that I decided to come back this year for my front yard project. Lake’s Nursery is #1 on my list. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.

Ohhhh, heaven! If you like Japanese Maples, welcome to the nursery of your dreams. They have rows and rows and rows of them, in all different sizes and colors. We came home with two (a moonfire and a beni kawa) and they are so beautiful. The nursery is huge, shady, and gorgeous. They have plenty of other plants and trees as well, and the staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the incredibly nice woman who walked around with us, answered all of our questions, and helped us find the perfect trees. She also made sure that our trees were secured in the truck. I live in Oakland, which is a ways away, but I will definitely make a point to go back because it’s just a wonderful place.
