Lunch around 12:30 on Monday. Your typical Taco Mayo, except dirtier and worn out. I don’t expect much out of Newcastle, and I tend to give small towns a little more slack, but I’m starting to not see the reason; they should be able to keep up the cleanliness and maintenance that all other larger cities seem to achieve. A little mess and wear is understandable, but this restaurant looked as though the maintenance was anything but regular. Now, the food is good. Black beans were bland; lacking salt today. Pico, lettuces(romaine and iceberg), refried beans, chicken and cheese were all tasty and above average for a Taco Mayo. The taco salad taco shell was crispy and fresh tasting(didn’t have a chewiness or a bitter aftertaste like I’ve experienced at other Taco Mayo establishments). Bottom line: there was no food wasted on this visit. The drive thru is a nice feature, parking lot is tight. Would visit again to see if they can clean up their act.
