Dined there this holiday weekend and I really liked their 5 bottled beers(bartenders choice) for $ 15. It is a really awesome idea to sample new beers at a great price and not spending a fortune if you end up not enjoying the beer. Now to the food: We ordered the nachos for food which were just broken tortilla chips and cheese with a side of salsa nothing to brag about at all especially the broken chips part. I also got their award winning chili with brisket that didn’t have much flavor and tasted so smokey you couldn’t really gather any other flavors in it sadly I was hoping for some damn cool chili. Oh well moving on They did a Great job with the pork osso bucco OMGGGG it was to die for really tasty with the pan drippings I throughly enjoying soaking my baked potato in(this was on the specials menu) My boyfriend ordered the all you can eat wings which were large in size and he said the different sauces had a nice verity and lots of celery and carrots to choose from too as well as a baked potato for a starch — can’t beat that deal for $ 13.99 plus you get a nice side salad as well Overall I’d go back just don’t get the nachos people!!!

This is my favorite place to eat. I encourage you to try everything on the menu. From their home made soups to their weekly specials, everything is always amazing. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad dish there. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and wonderful food.

I’ve stopped at The Hotel two times and have had an A-OK experience both times. They always have a decent selection of beer, including some awesome craft/import options that I was surprised to see(Stone, Lagunitas, Young’s). The food has ranged from 4 stars(the prime rib) to 2 stars(the chicken marsala). Service has always been efficient and friendly. If you’re in the area, it’s a great option for a beer and a sandwich.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I was expecting a dive with poor quality food and a ho-hum menu. Instead, it was a lively restaurant full of families with a few young people at the beautiful, historic bar, warm and festively decorated for Christmas. The menu is divided into«Rooms» featuring different meats and every permutation of sandwich you can imagine, including rubens and French dips. The specializations are unique and refreshing. I had a not-so-small«small» Timay sandwich for $ 6, which had some of the best corned beef I’ve ever had. Fries were flavorful and crispy. I can’t really speak on the quality of any healthier items, which in my experience is usually lacking in this area, but I would probably give it a try given how impressed I was with the sandwich.

Always a great meal. Many unique entrees and the desserts are amazing. Steak night on Tuesday is awesome, especially their rib eye. If you are fortunate enough to visit on a night that Glenda is your server, you will have a 5 star experience. She has never faltered with her recommendations, has a great sense of humor and is a seasoned server. We have a vacation place in Newfoundland and visit here often. Every October, we have dinner for our anniversary here. Never been disappointed.

The kindness and care we received from our server, Glenda was stellar. She made the whole experience memorable, despite our late night arrival at the restaurant and frazzled state from a long day’s travel. The food was lovely — tasty, fresh diner food served with heart and soul. Our group ordered the onion rings, salad and fisherman’s stew, all of which were wonderful and full of flavor. The menu is extensive, and everyone was impressed with their main course. Wings, a toasted open faced turkey sandwich(Glenda’s Flying Monkey Sandwich), and the prime rib were all delicious and served with a little extra pizazz than typical diner fare. Glenda(our waitress) was unusually sensitive to one of our party’s Celiac disease, and literally sat down at the table with us to troubleshoot the menu with us to make sure this diner felt welcomed and safe eating the food. The desserts(which we usually skip, but everything was so good we had to try them!) were great. We got the flourless chocolate lava cake(YUM), the sweet potato-whiskey bread pudding, and a chocolate sundae. Everything was delicious and we were totally stuffed and happy at the end of the meal. Despite how tasty all of the food was, the most wonderful thing about this restaurant was its staff, who all clearly care for their customers above and beyond typical service. I will certainly stop again if I’m in the area.

The food was really good here, visiting from out of town and the food was edible for the prices. Except the kids menu, took a hot dog with fries to go for my little Brother and I believe that was $ 7. But otherwise, cheap food and good food.

Don’t trust them with your food allergies, or indicate you don’t eat something. They were very casual about it, barely apologized for not mentioning that they couldn’t remove the ingredient from the dish! If someone says, no meat with my dish — you should say you can’t remove the meat, don’t serve it! Never acknowledged it took over 40 minutes to start bringing food — the children even had to wait. Didn’t bring bread to our table until we asked, we spotted it at another table and we were starving! Took 3 requests to bring napkins. The good– nice chili, cheese steak, onion rings. But since we were so badly neglected, they were so dismissive over having made a huge mistake with the meat — made several comments indicating it was our fault… yeah, unprofessional.

I was visiting the Poconos for a retreat with my sister and was looking for somewhere to get a satisfying lunch in a casual setting. After some research on Unilocal I found«The Hotel» in Newfoundland. Over all really great experience. It’s definitely locals place with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re away from home in the country but home. The seating for dining includes comfortable, large booths adjacent to the bar with little windows that give just enough natural light. Lots to look at to occupy yourself and soak in. It took us some time to decide on our meal selections because there were so many good choices — from big salads, to open faced sandwiches to a steak under $ 20. The best part other than the wide range of tasty sounding food, a great selection of beers offered as a flight and reasonable prices was the exceptional service. I’m not talking about Michelin star, «yes, sir» white or dark napkin blah blah, I’m talking friendly, happy people who like their job. There’s no training for that, it is what it is. Our servers were genuine, patient and cared about our experience. They made sure we were happy with our meal from start to finish. This place just does it right. A spoon in my unsweetened iced tea to stir in sugar, lemons in the waters, extra napkins. It’s the little things. The salad was massive and fresh, with perfectly cooked grilled chicken. Crunchy tasty fries were just what you’d expect and want, and my side of chili had hunks of tender brisket meat and a unique aromatic, spicy flavor with varied beans. I didn’t get to try the seafood bisque because my fellow diner didn’t give me the chance. I love writing good reviews for places that deserve it. The Hotel is a spot you can have a nice meal, focus on your company without«wondering where’s the check!?» and just be. s

The best little restaurant in the Poconos! You can get food that satisfies the comfort food palate or cuisine that excites a more sophisticated palate … Known for Michael’s Veal Marsala and Chef Jessica’s innovative works of art on the weekends… Hometown feel and extremely friendly staff! Open year round… Reservations not necessary but suggested! Check it out

The Hotel is a shockingly good diamond in the rough. The food is such a step above what one expects from a place as casual as this, and at prices which are beyond fair. The service is so friendly and the environment so comfortable the food seems almost out of place. I mean come on, it’s a bar. With true gourmet food. If this were in the downtown of a major city it would be called a gastropub and be filled with hipsters. To say the menu is extensive is an understatement. It’s huge. Enormous. Usually that indicates that a restaurant doesn’t do anything particularly well… but in this case the kitchen can do no wrong. That being said there are some highlights: any steak dinner, the burgers(soooooo freakin’ good), and the wings. More on the wings later. Dinners come with a very nice salad, the steak fries are exactly as you would hope they would be, but the burgers and steaks are ALWAYS cooked exactly to order, and somehow done differently… I’m not sure if it’s the seasoning, the actually cooking surface, or the quality of the meat… but in any case delicious! Appetizers are nice as well — soups are many in number and all done quite well(and obviously home-made). The Irish Nachos are neither Irish nor Nacho, but frankly a great starter — big fresh jalepenos, cheese, chili and those steak fries… so good. Now for the wings. The huge selection of styles pleases everyone, and they are all different and delicious. My personal favorites are the Timay, Thai Peanut, and Teriyaki. The best way to have wings here, however, is to drop by on Wednesday for Wing Night. I feel as if this is done on Wednesday to be a treat for the regulars… us summer folks are rarely there on a Wednesday… but when we are we come here and gorge on all the flavors of wings and baked potatoes. You cannot go wrong — and I’d recommend avoiding wings for a while before coming here to really maximize the awesomeness that is Wing Night at The Hotel. The rest of the week has really nice specials as well — Friday Prime Rib and Sunday Ribs highlight the non-Wing Night choices. Beer selections are not huge, but diverse enough to allow beer snobs one or two decent choices. Full bar service. Prices are quite good — you get huge bang for your buck at The Hotel — you will never feel as if you didn’t get your money’s worth. Service is good, the dining area neat and clean(and they go all out when decorating for Halloween — worth a trip). Family friendly, kids welcome. The bar is clearly a locals-only haven though — you may get the stink-eye if you aren’t from the area… though otherwise you will be left alone. My only complaint is a frequent sewer-ish smell near the bathrooms… occasionally reaching the first booth. Don’t sit near the bathrooms. Television is regularly tuned to racing… but can really only be seen at the bar anyway. Not a place to catch a game. Outdoor seating is very close to a busy dusty road — not really an option. Parking is limited, and you may have to walk across that busy road, which at times can be a bit tricky. The Hotel may not have five-star atmosphere, but the food and staff make it a really nice place to have lunch or dinner, with family or on a date.

I can only comment on the bar, as I have not yet had food here. I think the bartenders and drinks they make are pretty darn good! I like crazy, weird, new, unique drinks and the girls here can make some unique cocktails and martinis. I actually DID have a small snack here(half a sandwhich) once, shortly before a new years’ eve, but it was ‘gratis’, so I don’t know if I could comment beyond it was good. That was nice of them to do, though!

Just OK experience here. This could have been due to my specific menu choices as well as the poor service received. The rest of my crew enjoyed their meals and the majority of the menu sounded great. GOOD: I like the vibe here, great atmosphere. Cozy and casual. The FRENCHFRIES are fantastic!!! Trust me. They were crispy and delicious. If you are confronted with a myriad of side options, choose the fries. And if not, order them anyway! Really huge menu with tons of options! They have a bar. I noticed they had a pretty decent beer selection(written on the blackboard). They even had a mystery beer bucket(5 beers for 8 dollars if I remember correctly, it was a good deal). I opted for a cocktail however. My food was good. The crab bisque wasn’t amazing, but it was pretty good. It looked like it was made with imitation crab meat. I can probably get a similar tasting soup out of a can. Side salad was fresh. I ordered the scallops in butter — they were good but nothing special. Honestly, what stood out the most was the French fries! BAD — My Bloody Mary was very watered down — the whole glass was full of ice. It tasted like spicy water with a hint of tomato juice. We had some service issues. Our waitress wasn’t attentive at all. She only came by to place the order, not once asking if we needed anything. We kept having to flag down someone else to request ketchup, etc. Maybe they were understaffed, I understand that. However, she then forgot a plate. She brought out everyone’s food, omitting someone’s steak. We assumed it would be out shortly and was taking a bit longer to cook. She never came by to ask how we were doing and we had a hard time flagging her down. Had to ask someone else again. He found our steak laying in the kitchen — she had forgotten it. After the other waiter brought the steak, our waitress finally came by, asking how the food was and saying sorry about the steak. The person who ordered the steak(who is generally a sarcastic person) told her it was terrible and cold. I then watched her scoff and walk away, shaking her head. I thought this was inappropriate. She messed up, she needs to apologize and suggest some sort of compensation. Eventually, I guess she realized she needs to work for her tip and came by offering 20% off on the steak price and a comp drink.

If there was no such thing as upscale bar food, it was just invented. Only a fifteen minute drive from our lake place in the Poconos, we decided to drop by the Newfoundland Hotel(pronounced locally New-Found-Land) to see what all the hype was about. It far exceeded our expectations. We ordered four different entrees — the quesadillas, an half rack of ribs(served with a veggie and a potato on a wood plank), the crab cakes, and the veal parm on a(king size) bed of linguine. All served at the same time piping hot from the kitchen and perfectly cooked. We gazed at the dishes brought to neighboring tables in amazement how good they looked. Generous portions. Artfully presented. Creative side dishes. Folks, we’re just saying, we’re shocked to find such a fine dining establishment here-abouts, We’re blown away — from the quality of the food to the outstanding service. You gotta try this place and hope it stays this way.

I tour all over the country and the world. I’m from this town and have to say The Hotel has the best wings I’ve ever had. Jessica whips up the best food in the back! Also — amazing burgers! And the bisque is great. Don’t forget to order a Yuengling ;-)
