These«log» cabins are wood covered mobile homes in various stages of disrepair. The river had an odor, and if sludge bubbles indicate pollution, then pull out your waders not a swim suit. You can use your swim suit for the hot tub on the off chance YOURS might be working. But don’t worry, the«cabins» are so close you can enjoy vicariously watching your neighbors in theirs. We left 4 days early — no refund. They did promise a free week within the year, but who would come back for more?

Linville River Log Cabin rentals are in the heart of Averty County, conveniently located near Granddfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, Blowing Rock and less than 20 minutes south of Boone. The cabins are nestled along the Linville River, just off the highway. Although you won’t get the spectacular views as some of the other rental properties, the scenery is delighful. Firepits are located right along the water, so bring folding camp chairs. Also bring water shoes because this part of the river is shallow and you can wade right in! Cabins themselves are spotless, nicely decorated and well-stocked. They are close together but surprisingly private. The owners are really nice and obviously hardworking; we were greeted by Shane who showed us around and gave us maps and sightseeing suggestions. All cabins have hottubs, fishing pole rentals, cheap firewood bundles($ 4 compared to $ 5 at local stores) delivered right to your firepit, and grills(bring charcoal.) Our cabin was Mountain Haven and we had directTV with premium movie channels and a DVD player.(Shane might be getting wireless back next year.) This is the third year of operation and even though they claim to still be learning about the business, everything was smooth as silk for us. We loved every minute of our stay and highly recommend them!
