Well good thing something from the movie«Deliverance» didn’t jump out of the woods and throw me off the bridge and into the Chattahoochee River! Cause I was scurred!!! Siri told me there were unexpected delays ahead, and since I had gotten a late start driving from Alabama, I decided she knew what she was talking about… and I took her advice. Bad idea! She directed me to a street that I turned right on and immediately saw the DEADEND sign. I thought, this can’t be right, but I kept driving! Soon the narrow one lane road wasn’t paved anymore. It was now a gravel road, and the road could fit only one car. Yikes! Uh-huh!!! :/ I kept driving to the end, which was about a mile long. In making the way, I passed a few double wides and a few small houses, spread far apart. I got to the end, made a 3-point turnabout and hightailed it out of there! Dusk was settling in and I had to find the highway back to the interstate. So I pulled over and cracked my window to take a couple pictures in case I was never heard from again! Some good that would’ve done, cause it all looked the same, WOODS!!! I re-entered my address into the GPS(which I forgot for a minute since I was sure I’d be dragged away by some maniac). After I reprogrammed the GPS and posted on Unilocal where I was, my Brother called me to make sure I was headed in the right direction(he knew the area). I did drive over the Chattahoochee River and was grateful I was safely locked in my car and no gremlins tried to flag me down. ;) It took me another 45 minutes to find the interstate!!! And perfect timing, cause it was just getting dark. I had lost over an hour driving around in circles, even with a GPS!!! Haha! Thanks a lot Siri! Another thing, Siri… I’ve never liked your tone. You’re a little too snooty for me. But it’s okay. I’ve switched my GPS voice to the male version… *sigh* Much better. Except he calls himself«Siri»???

My wife and I visited Chattahoochee Bend State Park last week and we had a great time. Although the park is way off I85, directions to the park were clear. The roads weren’t crowded and the ride took us through some beautiful country. The park is well maintained and it’s easy to navigate through the park. The facilities were like new. We stopped at the Visitor’s Center and the staff treated us like we were family. We went for a short hike from the boat ramp down to the observation tower. Even though it had rained a few days earlier the trails were all in good shape. We saw a beaver and several armadillos on the way out to the tower. We had a great view of the river along most of the hike. For the most part the forest is old hardwood with light undergrowth. The trail itself was easy to hike and wide enough that my wife and I had no problem walking side by side the entire way. It was a fun, relaxing and beautiful hike. Only negative I could find were the size of the campsites. They were small, close together. There wasn’t much screening between the campsites. I got the distinct impression that you wouldn’t have much privacy on a camping trip. I plan on returning often and will give camping a try when the weather warms up a touch. If you’re looking for a great way to escape the city, the stress and the noise for a few hours, take a ride down to Chattahoochee Bend State Park. You won’t regret it.

Great facilities. Park map could be more accurate but very nice well cared for park. Took our boy scout troop there this weekend. If you camp with a tent bring a pad to sleep on. The sites are all set on very fine cut gravel but gets uncomfortable to sleep on.

I don’t even know where to begin. This place was such a letdown. The trails were overgrown and uninspired. You could see the road from most of the trail we were on. At one points we were walking under power lines this is where we picked up the ticks I think. I’d never walked into that many spider webs before we went there! Not really the parks fault but it does say something about the lack of hikers. There wasn’t really a pay off on the hike. Just takes you to the Chattahoochee, again I’m not sure what I was expecting. I’ve just set a high bar having visited so many parks. We won’t be back and I really can’t give this place any more than a star. The shop was overpriced and the shirts were really boring. Everything we’ve come to expect from GA state parks this one didn’t have. Bummer.
